I can't do it. There were so many good sets that people won't ever get to see let alone what was recorded. Some hyped Pools and even more hyped Bracket Matches. All I will say is AXE is forever my hero. The way he was playing brought tears to my eyes it was so ****ing crazy.

I think #1 for me is Axe vs Shiz. I was kinda congratulating axe on how well he did to that point. I won't say I thought he couldn't win but I was looking at it like Armada vs Hbox GF's. Maybe but unlikely. Some how he did it and did it convincingly too.

"DO IT NOW GOHAN!!!!!!" That won Apex.

My favorites were Axe vs Jman, M2K vs Armada, and Taj and Diakonos in crews. Axe definitely stole the show this time. My mind was in a continuous state of being blown when I was watching his matches.

The Armada vs Axe set was crazy intense, mostly that second game. Taj vs Armada friendlies. Shiz vs Mango commentating their own match, funny as heck and slightly educational in a weird way. The falco tourney was amazing, did they ever finish? I heard Wobbles vs M2k was good. I got AZ biase but who cares, AZ repped hard at this tourney.

I remember before apex asking him about it and he said basically bump everyone up a spot in my absence lol. Aside from Amsah(didn't go) everyone did move up a spot from pound4. A few went back though because of shocking upsets or ruleset->upsets etc.

Vanz also went Fox. He's a chameleon.

Interesting though since he took a game off HBox with Fox in Rainbow Cruise, while the same match with Mew2King didn't happen (though both were air tight).

Also I definitely couldn't just pick one set; there were too many good ones.

You do not want to see the crew battle, it was really bad.

I'm a bit surprised that no one mentioned teams yet, WF, LF, and GF were amazing imo.

m2k vs armada was terrible, ar wasnt playing well. ive never seen him mess up so many edgeguards and sdi's. i could barely beleive it was the same armada i saw playing at stig just a few weeks ago.

Yes, he was messing up some edgeguards, but to say he was playing bad? No, not really.

To compare his Apex peformance to what you've seen from him in Sweden is also ridiculous. The amount of pressure playing against a player like M2k (who is a lot better than anyone from Sweden save Armada) in the losers finals of a huge international tournament isn't comparable to playing people you're used to beating at a local tournament.

And before you say "See, you just admitted the pressure made him play worse", performing under pressure is a skill.

Oh and for the love of God, don't reply to this post, you'll only make yourself look worse..

That said, congratz @ Armada for placing 2nd.
I know it sucks to hear that becaue (like me) you probably aren't happy with anything other than winning, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's one hell of an achievement.

You'll get that Puff next time man..

All of Axe's matches where he went Pikachu. How can you NOT love those matches? Honestly, way too much hype.

APEX = AXE P

I was so glad he put Jman's controller johns to rest. Heck, he apparently put Jmans smash-career to rest:laugh:.

Jman can't break into those top 3 spots at big tournaments no matter what. I know he must be so frustrated by that. He did well Axe just out played him. AXE should put up an avatar of Pikachu in the Captain America suit because AXE is pretty much America's hero right now. I kind of want to play pikachu now. Infact I played pikachu in friendlies yesterday for the first time since like...2003 LOL.

Jman says he is going to "quit" all the time then as soon a theres a significant amount of money he can earn from melee he always pops up to win it. Like when tristate has 50 person no johns hes always there. Or 40 people saffron city's there again. Or when a national rolls around and m2k or some one really really good offers to team with him hes there again like at that huge thing in Illinois dark rain hosted not to long ago. Cactuar and chu have "quit" like 90 times, no one really ever quits melee. :)

Tristate smashers just like to create drama and john all time time and "quit" and "unquit" and stuff.

so what, you want me to say that armada playing worse due to pressure made the set better when it made it worse? :ohwell: (in your own words)
thats unrelated to wether or not playing under pressure is a skill, fact remains that it made the set less entertaining, which was all that I was saying.

No offense to all the axe lovers, but axe vs armada was NOT an incredibly good set. It went as follows:

Axe got beat pretty solidly
Axe made amazing clutch come back
Axe got his *** handed to him

Axe IS an amazing player, and did play well at Apex. Please do not tell me him getting beaten solidly 2/3 of the time, with the last match being a 3 stock, was a favorite set from apex.

@Mike, hmm armada was really off, you're totally right. It's how he 3 stocked m2k's fox on Battlefield... playing terribly right? 'Nuff said.

PP vs anyone except Jman were my favorites =D PP had an amazing comeback vs Wobbles, and people often forget that for a comeback to happen, the other player had to do some crazy asswhooping first; aka, good job wobbles as well :D PP did really well vs armada, and could have really had it.

@Kanelol, where are the axe shiz matches put up?
Does anyone know if shiz vs mango with both of them commentating was recorded? I heard their commentaries were really funny, but I missed it.

M2K vs Armada was a good set overall, and his marth always comes so close, but he can never quite get it.
GJ Axe at beating Jman in a really close set, beating out the camping, and keeping cool under pressure.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Zhu vs PP!!! That was a really good set, with PP playing amazing, and Zhu pulling out some crazy stuff as well. I can't wait to rewatch that.

Edit: Grand Finals: Just because it's jiggs vs peach with bair and turnip spamming doesn't mean it was a bad set =D Watching their shield play against each other was really entertaining, and the matches were ridiculously indepth, albeit not flashy. While lots of everyone's favorite sets are the flashier ones, the pure thought put into GF makes it worth noting as a great one.

i dont think Axe vs Armada was that great, either

don't get me wrong, i was mad hyped when Jeff made that comeback game 2, but other than that, I sorta shrugged the set off. i wasn't really paying attention to anything in games 1 and 3 other than who was losing stocks.
