I'm fine with waiting for Banjo as of now. Now that I know that he's in, I'm resting easy knowing that by the end of the year I will be maining him and Kazooie. No more what ifs and no more Steve VS Banjo ****posting makes everything a lot calmer.
I agree, especially about being able to rest easy, but I know that in about 2 months I'm gonna start to be impatient.

I'm all for being patient, but the fighter pass is really starting to drag.
They announced it back on november 1st, and now, 9 months later, we still only have :ultpiranha: and:ultjoker:. 2/6 characters. I guess the Hero will come around EVO, so in the next 14 days, but still, that's some weird pacing. The last 3 character will have to come out in pretty quick succession, if they want to finish it before next march.
I can only imagine how slow september and october will feel, since we will be waiting directly for Banjo then...
The weird thing is that, if the updates really coincide with amiibo patches, then we're getting Hero in the next two weeks, then Banjo by the last week of September/first two weeks of October... and then the next three release in November. With the last character probably releasing in February, this might mean that the gap between Banjo and Challenger #4 might be smaller than the others - makes sense, because if DLCs 1~3 were worked on at the same time, then the team could have started DLC 4 right after Joker released, in April.

It's weird... like, if all of this comes to pass, then we'll have had 4 months between the game's launch and Joker's release, then another 3 months to Hero, then 2 more until Banjo, then possibly 1 until DLC #4, then 3 more until the last one. Plus the few off days I didn't count, that's a very strangely divided 14 months of DLC.

Then again, we literally got 3 out of 7 Smash 4 DLC on literally the same day, so...

Well, to be fair, there was also Plant. So all in all we kinda get one character every 2 months, except for the gap between Joker and Hero which is closer to 4 months.
I think the really disorienting thing is just how vague they're being with the release dates. Well, and that 4 months gap.

Though Banjo and the Hero both look like they got more than the average amount of work. Banjo and Kazooie are still 2 characters that require to be animated separately, and Spiral Mountain is probably the most complex non-ripped stage in the game. The Hero, meanwhile, has 4 different costumes and a metric ton of special moves, which is probably a nightmare for balancing, too.

Not that disorienting, we know at which seasons the characters drop, that's enough. Best to assume the characters get out later rather than sooner. It's not like the downloads will disappear as soon as the release day ends.

The only thing I'm uneasy about is knowing when Krazy will get his Banjo suit and try the skydiving stunt reenactment, exactly. That's roughly within BK's release timeframe, in theory.

I still feel the Fighters Pass was hastily added to soften the blow for those who believed The Grinch leak. Joker's trailer proved that, only having his model shown around March or so before the actual release a month later. They're not taking their sweet time perfecting the characters, more like they had to make plans for more fighters a lot more earlier than they anticipated. They hadn't even decided the five supposedly when the November Direct dropped and it shows. Sakurai even says don't buy it if you're not confident in its value. Just wait it out, not because more time = better polish but because it's clear we really weren't supposed to get this pass as early as they announced it. Maybe around 2019 or so they could have made an announcement when Ultimate settled in properly.

That's my overall take on it.

That's hilarious. If there's one thing we can be 100% sure of it's that Nintendo doesn't make a DLC bundle as a response to a leak that gained traction. These characters negotiations started well before Sakurai announced the DLC pass was announced and the executives were the ones who wanted a bundle that's why it's here despite Sakurai not liking it. As for the announcement coming early one was because Nintendo wanted an announcement at the awards show right before release and two because the last game was coming so we already all knew DLC was coming. They announced the pass because they already were expecting announce the first character before a month later (as we know all the elements in the direct were finish before the day of not only because they obviously have these finished before they air but because people saw the direct well in advance which is why the whole Grinch vs Insiders was happening)

Good point. Rare specifically said they've been working with Nintendo for about a year to get Banjo into Smash, but yeah Nintendo totally did this whole thing because of a fake leak that came out in October, while so far only including 1 character from the banner. Seems legit.

Banjo’s probably going to take ages to come out but as long as I can play as him by Christmas it’ll be worth the wait.

Mind I’ll definitely lose my **** if he’s not out by 2020 when there’s still two more characters to add by February lmao

Hopefully that won't be an issue, since that definitely falls far beyond the Fall 2019 deadline. If that happened, I could only surmise the other two characters would be pushed back too. Has there ever been a DLC Smash character that suffered delays? I don't recall that off hand. If a Smash DLC character ever got delayed, the only reason for it I could possibly imagine is an Overwatch scenario where somehow a tool or multiple tools combined or a character's gimmick in a moveset was so fundamentally broken they had the scrap the whole concept and go back to the drawing board, but such a scenario seems hard to do in a game like Smash. Very few moves/characters fall under that radar and when they do it's usually not caught until post release when Smash players figure out how to optimize a character in ways the play testers never intended.

I thought of something funny. What if Banjo & Kazooie release on the same day as the Area 51 raid?

I'm very content with waiting til the Fall. Like I said before, this year's autumn season looks to be full of stuff for me to look forward to. Personally, though, I'm more anxious about their page finally being available on the Smash Bros. Ultimate website. Of course the ONE PAIR of characters I've always wanted and they're still blocked off from me being able to bask in their backpacking bear and bird glory! I just want to see some new screenshots and their alternate costumes! Hopefully when the Hero releases and they reveal the next character in the Fighter Pass (hopefully they'll have some Direct or something in August), Banjo & Kazooie's page on the Smash site will finally be available!

We are just getting impatient is all. I remember when folks started thinking Joker would not release in April after growing impatient then. I am still sticking to my initial thoughts of early August for Hero and early to mid October for Banjo

The lack of Steveposting has made life so much calmer. It's been a solid month since I've seen grotesque steve and I couldn't be happier

So after some extensive playing of Yooka Laylee, I feel I can give some opinions on it.

It's a freaking good game. Perhaps not as polished as it should be but it's still very solid. I believe I've unlocked all the moves (a priority so I could 100% level by level) and it's impressive. But I must admit I keep pressing the wrong button to do one thing. Most often I'll roll when I mean to crouch or high jump when I mean to take off or turn invisible.

But I think one of my favourite abilities in any game ever is the bubble underwater. It turns lackluster water parts into a joy to explore. Every game should have be something like it. (with that said, it makes absolutely no sense at all)

I also appreciate how much personality the pagies have. My complaints so far are fairly limited to be honest.

Half a year, understandable. A month and a half? Not so much. At least wait until the last week of the month that the season ends in before complaining. :p

Sometimes I wonder if folks aren't being spoiled from information feeding these days. It's not like this is waiting for Duke Nukem Forever or anything.

Yup, it's actually possible to actually talk in here now. Unfortunately Conker fans (among others) are still going to have to put up with their own detractors for a long time, but haters pretty much crop up for any remotely noticeable character anyways. Just gotta deal with it.

To be fair, we did wait for 11 years to see Banjo in a videogame again (outside of Rare Replay) and nearly 20 to see him in a Nintendo system.

On the topic of Steveposting, some people are still salty, nothing new there. But if anything, I'm glad the journey got me to meet some cool Steve fans that convinced me he would be an interesting character. Even if I had to deal with a crowd of trolls and relevance/sales "specialists" to find them. As someone else said... casuals can really be the worst elitists sometimes.

I may or may not actually finish a moveset for him one day.

Well, I do mean more in the context of folks who didn't need to wait very long to see if someone they want would get in, but yeah. :ultjoker::ulthero:

In regards to the latter point, you can thank TheCJBrine TheCJBrine in part for that. It's refreshing to see other people that actually turn the other cheek in Smash fandom.

Yeah for a solid 6 months there was at least one or two falseflagging Geno threads made every day on /v/ basically just for people to **** on the character and his fans. That's commitment.
I just don't want two Mario flc characters. That makes 10 Mario Characters 12 if you count Yoshi and Wario.

Just because there are 12 Mario characters on the roster doesn't mean you only like 12, let alone those 12 in particular.

Well Mario is Nintendo’s premier franchise and second biggest next to Pokémon. So it’d make sense for it to have more reps than other series. Also it’s not like we’re asking for toadette or some other character that’s been in a bunch of Mario games and spin-offs. This is a fan favorite character that hasn’t been in a game in over 20 years and offers a very different set of potential abilities than any other Mario character. It’s really reductive to write Geno off as just “another Mario character” imo

Also, we got no control on the final selection process. We can't influence reality as if it were an ARG. If Ninty and Sak pick a Mario character, they will. Besides, nobody can influence Mario spin-off rosters at all anyway..

I'm glad you liked it. I watched a little bit of gameplay for their next game from a recent live stream and you can tell from the quality of the game Playtonic has improved greatly as a team.

I seriously hope no taunt parties happen in the arena I have set to create once our bear and bird join the roster. If there are any, then, I will kick them out!

It's funny how steveposting pretty much died out. Banjo quite literally killed steveposting. LMAO.

Feels good waking up every morning, looking online and seeing that Banjo is indeed going to be in Smash. I've had to have watched that trailer over 50 times by now. If you don't guh-huh taunt at the beggining of every match, we ain't bros.

It just seems so surreal seeing Microsoft at the end of the copyright section for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I wonder which company is next? Bethesda (Doom Slayer)? Activision (Crash Bandicoot)? Koei Tecmo (Ryu Hayabusa)?...
Rockstar Games (Trevor Philips/Arthur Morgan)? Well okay maybe not Rockstar Games but could you imagine Arthur Morgan after dying from his tuberculosis he finds himself in the Smash World?

It kinda hurts that “steveposting” is actually a term instead of simply trolling, since that’s what the fake fans with the deformed render were doing...
Well, they were trolling... by posting the Deformed Steve picture and the same old "cereal mascot" stuff. I think the specific term fits, wasn't there a similar one for Waluigi as well?

Because of this ****, a lot of people started seeing Steve and Minecraft in general as a troll pick when they really aren't. Doesn't help that a lot of BK haters jumped on that bandwagon because they didn't want a "dead character" in their Smash. People were mostly okay with Steve back when Vergeben said "Minecraft content in Smash", but it all went downhill after the Grinch Leak and the community devolved into "but muh relevance, muh sales" arguments.

Hopefully, it will happen like it did with Waluigi: the trolls will go to wherever they crawled from and leave the actual fans of the character to campaign for him. The salty people will just get over it eventually so that we can actually think of what Steve could bring to Smash instead of the same old discussions.

Speaking of, CJBrine: mind if I start discussing some ideas I had about that with you? Don't wanna clog up the thread.

Only thing those Steveposters didn't know, Smash wasn't theirs. :) It's Sakurai's.

I don't think these people care. It was never about Minecraft or Smash to them - it was about pointing and laughing at other people. Steve was just the convenient thing to use for that.

But let's stop talking about people who aren't fans of any of those things. Let's talk about the good stuff!

Apparently, the "VR Plant" leaker said Hero is "soon". We don't know how soon, but considering their track record, I think it's safe to say that at the very worst, it's one or two weeks into August if this really is the case.

I don’t know if “waluigiposting” was a term, it just seems sorta hostile towards the character when it’s not even the real Steve or real fans that were using it, but oh well...

Yeah I hope it gets better; and yeah I’d like to hear any Steve ideas :)
