It depresses me how Sakurai said don't expect anymore high budget reveal trailers because it's hard for them. I am honestly expecting Ryu level reveal with its just some flashy effects when Banjo does a taunt or something.

It’s hard to really tell since Joker was Atlus themselves making the trailer in the Persona 5 intro style.

What would you like to see as his reveal? I got 2 scenarios, one referencing Banjo being part of the N64’s legacy or shenanigans with K Rool and/or Diddy due to Rare relations

A giant K. Rool (or Bowser) as Mr. Patch? (especially if they can get his theme in there) Red and blue Ridleys as Chilly Willi and Chilly Billi? ROB as Mingy Jongo? Some of them might be stretches, but there are some options.

Yeah but seeing how Sakurai Loves Persona 5 it's likely that Joker just got the royal treatment and everybody else will just get gameplay trailers (that includes the hypothetical Erdrick reveal too, i mean Cloud's was just gameplay).

If they do have only ingame engine to do newcomer trailers, then I’m hoping they are more dynamic with it. Ultimate’s intro showcase shows how dynamic they can be and Ryu’s trailer was especially a great use.

Truthfully there's nothing actually going against Steve at this point. A lot of that is observation that thought he might be leakbait. I do think leakbait is very possible for him. Minecraft being mentioned for over 6 months(almost a year now) with nothing is suspicious. But that applies to Erdrick too, who I feel could easily be leakbait. With Sora's apparent disconfirmation... it's possible the whole Square Seven thing was just that. I mean, other SE characters exist, at least?

We open to Bayonetta fighting Pit and Dark Pit. She KO's them both and taunts. Rodin assist Trophy suddenly pops up and we get some voice over work.

Interesting, this is only pushing the fact that the DLC just got started and decided.
It’s not a definitive answer, and we still won’t know because again, Atlus themselves were the ones who made the joker trailer

Honestly, I took that to simply mean that the other DLC Fighters won't have fancy CG animations for their trailers like the base roster ones and Joker got; instead, they'll be more like the Smash 4 DLC trailers and Piranha Plant's, where it's only using gameplay with some cinematography.

This is a very good point. A company like Square would want to avoid that big of a leak months before that product is supposed to come out unless someone was incompetent and majorly screwed up. While I still think Erdrick is possible, it's also possible that he's leakbait.

Same goes for that fabled "Minecraft content" that were supposed to get in the base game that never happened and still hasn't happened for the DLC.

Because that's not the only reason characters are chosen. Joker wasn't chosen to help advertise games. He was chosen because he's an interesting character.

Steve is a gaming icon. That's enough of a reason alone to pick him. That alone is a good reason to pick Banjo too. Not everything is directly about advertising. It's just the fact that Smash has an effect on advertising stuff due to its nature.

Also, looking at how much PP and Joker's stats changed, I wouldn't take Brave's stats from months ago as the proof of anything, especially looking at how much of a Rorschach Test they can be (like the name itself).

Mojang has no control if Steve gets in or not. It really means nothing. If they don't want to treat him like trash, it's whatever. It's pretty dumb to do so, since it's an important icon to the company, but all it does at best is make the company look childish.

It might be more telling if Microsoft said something, though, since they own the character. If Mojang went out of their way to make it clear Steve wasn't in, which would mean they aren't an NDA, it would matter, though. But they have not said anything close to that. Just they dislike the idea, which again, is an opinion they are allowed to have(whether it being a healthy way to act or not).

She never actually remotely said at any point the character isn't coming. Just that she dislikes the idea.

So it really doesn't matter because her words have zero power in context as is. Her letting off her mouth was a bad idea from the start. But it's probably more Microsoft would rather not have one of the major characters being badmouthed like that. Her position does not really give her knowledge at all. She's only there as someone who is more PR talk... for the game itself, not for events that she has zero control in. People are vastly overestimating her importance. Being a spokeswoman for the game is her position, but that doesn't give her special information. Either way, see the problem with the logic that "bashing equals disconfirmation". That's just a fallacy. At best her being told to stop only proves that the talking, despite her likely knowing nothing, would give the impression that she does, and Microsoft doesn't want that. So basically she's giving bad PR for the company and Microsoft stopped that. It can be as simple as that, which is why it's too flawed in thought to think she means remotely nothing. She has done nothing to legitimately lower his chances. "I dislike this character" is worthless coming from her. Now if Microsoft themselves or Sakurai said it, that would actually mean something. But that's all she has to give at this point. Which makes it fairly difficult for many to take seriously.

I could care less about Sora getting deconfirmed yesterday, But I would have been cool with Rayman making it in... Oh Well.

At least Banjo-Kazooie is still alive and fair game and that's all that matters to me at the end of the day.
