I'll be holding my breath honestly until we find out who the next two fighters hopefully are at E3. Really hoping they'll be worth the wait and anticipation. Also just really interested in seeing what games we'll get to see at E3 this year. Looking forward to Pokemon's Sword and Shield Direct next week, definitely a game I want to get when it comes out. A full fledged Pokemon game on a home console? Heck yes.

Same here, Pokemon Sword & Shield are my most anticipated game of the year and definitely a Day 1 buy for me and can't wait for the June 5th direct for new Pokemon and information.

In the mean time while we wait, Don't forget that there is a "Pokemon Press Conference" tonight at 6PM PT/9PM ET.

https://www.pokemon.com/us/press-co...n=pressconference&utm_term=conferenceannounce

Probably discussing about mobile, spinoffs or maybe even a Let's Go Johto (Longshot), I would also love a Pearl & Diamond for Switch as 4th Generation is next in line for a remake ,But I'm expecting that to be announced early or mid next year with a 2020 Holiday release.

First Sora, now Rayman.

I think a company talking about a character and making statements like this is a knock against that character. Why say something like this if your character is in? Same goes for the Aubrey Norris Steve comments that I think people are underestimating the importance of.

Microsoft and Rare, however, have been radio silent about Banjo since the DLC began. Silence isn't proof of anything of course, but I think if Banjo or another Microsoft character wasn't in, they'd probably respond to people on Twitter like Ubisoft just did for Rayman.

I don't think Rayman is making the season pass (as a hard Rayman supporter) but that statement sounded more like a "Maybe some day" which is vague wording, unlike a straight up "Nope" like Sora.

Side note, I recently regained a copy of the N64 version of Banjo-Kazooie after selling my original way back in the day to try and earn money towards a GameCube (a really dumb decision in hindsight since N64 was and still is my all-time favorite console) and have been playing that in anticipation for E3 and am simply amazed at how well it holds up even twenty years later. Playing it just reminds me of how much I really want Banjo & Kazooie in Smash. Everything about them would translate perfectly into Smash and it really would bring the lost All-Stars of Nintendo's past back to where they truly belong. Also just amazed my twenty-plus old N64 still plays like a champ even after all these years. Will probably try to play through Banjo-Tooie after I finish it. Getting to Click Clock Wood tonight!

Glad to hear that you enjoy it! I had a similar situation with Pikmin 1 and Zombies Ate My Neighbours - I don't sell my games any more as a result of that.

Sounds like you're making good progress with the game, and I hope that you enjoy Banjo-Tooie as well!

Oh Banjo-Kazooie & Banjo-Tooie are two of my all-time favorite games! I've played them countless times but I only had Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade until recently and my original copy of Banjo-Tooie is still intact with my initials still on it lol. So playing through them again is just a trip down nostalgia lane for me and hopefully it'll bring some good luck towards the beloved backpacking bear and bird buddies as we gear up for E3 ^^ I've been able to play through Banjo-Kazooie easy-breezy! Although Mr. Vile is a red-pimpled butthole and I hate his damn minigame lol much harder than I remember it being haha

Getting to Click Clock Wood tonight!
That world left me flabbergasted when I was a kid. A world that changed and evolved with the seasons. It added new challenges which required a shift in strategy to obtain the required collectibles.

At present day I’m still stuck in Gobi’s Valley. 100%ing that stage has been incredibly difficult.

It's the sand lol, was a problem for me too as a kid. But yeah freaking Click Clock Wood blew my mind as a kid. It seems like such an innocuous final world at first glance, but when I entered the Spring part for the first time and heard that catchy as heck melody and saw the giant tree in front of me that I would have to climb, I was completely blown away. What an amazing time to be an 8-year old haha

I just took Click Clock Woods one season at a time, from what I recall. (edit: might have misinterpreted what you meant by flabbergasted) What makes Gobi's Valley so tough? (it's been a while)

Now Rusty Bucket Bay, that was annoying. (especially in the N64 version, where you need to get every single note in one run through the level, and if you died before doing that, you had to start all over again) The propeller jiggy was one of the most frustrating parts of any game that I've played.

Was dealing with that all last night haha, actually surprisingly the engine room never bothered me but last night it was giving me trouble lmao but it's so worth it when the world right after it is Click Clock Wood.

Let’s pretend Banjo got confirmed.

What would you like to see as his reveal? I got 2 scenarios, one referencing Banjo being part of the N64’s legacy or shenanigans with K Rool and/or Diddy due to Rare relations
The sky is dark and there is a storm and thunder brewing hundreds of green energy blasts and a handful of lightning bolts begin to fall from the sky (along with Grunty's cackle in the background) and crash to the floor. The Banjo-Kazooie finl boss theme is playing and Gruntilda's minions come charging out of them like an army with various villains like Ganondorf, Bowser and Meta-Knight commanding their own group. Also with cameo's of some Banjo-Tooie bosses. The alliance of smash characters get ready to fend off her army. As they are charging towards each other ready to clash, Banjo & Kazooie swoop down and crash through the army using their wonderwing.

Then cut to gameplay footage with Mr. Patch's boss theme playing. After showing some gameply (with the stage being atop Gruntilda's lair), it cuts to the baddies surrounding Banjo and the heroes with Gruntilda laughing. Then from over the edge the Mighty Jinjonator appears and bashes into Gruntilda three times, and the shockwave knocks the baddies off the edge of the roof. At the end the sky is bright again and it's daytime, Banjo & Kazooie shake Mario's hand and the Jiggy collect theme plays. There are also Jinjo's celebrating the victory with the other smash heroes. Then cut the the smash symbol.

I think that would be cool my only problem is I feel you need to get Spiral Mountain theme playing somewhere. Maybe I made it too action packed and didn't add the moment for the right music pieces.

Traversing the world and the sand I'd have to say like Zoologist pointed out. Considering it's the n64 version, notes that are collected have to be recollected after death which compounds on the difficulty. That and I try to go relatively quickly across levels, so it's more prone to mistakes I guess.

I only really play the XBLA versions so I always forget that if you die you have to recollect the notes on the N64 ones.

I'm so proficient in the games as an adult though I don't think it would be an issue for me at this point.

I nearly completed Banjo Kazooie on the N64 until I got to Gruntilda's quiz show and failed because I forgot to ask Brentilda all of Grunty's secrets.

The propeller jiggy was one of the most frustrating parts of any game that I've played.
Playing as a middle-schooler on the N64, that was the very last jiggy I had to obtain to 100% the game (and I eventually did). That was absolutely the toughest get back then.

Yet on the Rare Replay version, I managed to grab it on my first try with plenty of time remaining.

Other than overall gaming proficiency improving, the only explanation I have is that the XBO controller/analog stick is orders of magnitude more precise and easier to use than the original 64 controller/analog stick.

Rayman is definitely one of my top picks for a third-party newcomer. I didn't play any of his games growing up but after watching a video showcasing how much potential his moveset could have, plus his neat cartoony design, I would absolutely love to see him in a future Smash.

I'd strongly recommend Rayman Origins or Rayman Legends. Those games are some of the most buttery-smooth platformers that I've ever played (both in terms of art and gameplay), and they basically give you an entire moveset for Smash on their own.

I recently beat Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie on the N64 last year around the holidays for their 20th anniversary and anticipation for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

It will be a little while until I play them again, But if Rare Replay gets announced for Switch I would definitely play both of them again soon.

But in the mean time It's Donkey Kong Country's 25th anniversary and Donkey Kong 64 20th anniversary, So I plan on playing through the Donkey Kong Country trilogy probably this Summer on the Super Nintendo Classic and Donkey Kong 64 on my old N64 a little later on.

Maybe once Rayman gets his foot in the door in Japan and Nintendo can find a way to make a proper Amiibo for him, Rayman could finally join Super Smash Bros.
Good point on the amiibo front. Having unattached limbs like he does makes an amiibo difficult to realize effectively, but not impossible.

I can't believe how many people are quoting "Only boomers want Banjo, lol" memes in the replies of Lenny's tweet. Not only do Kids These Days have no class and no taste, they don't actually know what a boomer is.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Those are the only Rayman games I've played and yes, they are fantastic. Rayman would be a fun addition to Smash but I worry he's not high-profile enough. Yes, he's allegedly Ubisoft's mascot, but how often do they actually take him out of mothballs? When I hear Ubisoft, I think Assassin's Creed first and Rayman second.

As for Rayman, there's many ways to make an amiibo work.

Even having his hands/feet slightly attached to his body, but positioned in a way it looks separate, can work. Also, I'm always weary of taking things from Twitter as confirmation/deconfirmation. Companies can be highly segmented, and support team might not know one way or the other. Same with that community manager who works on Minecraft--she would probably be out of the loop if something were to be happening. Heads of companies, though, they would probably know.

Heck yes.
I would think we're probably only getting one fighter announced at E3. Makes sense. #2 - June, #3 - August, #4 - October, #5 - December. Doesn't have to always be two months a part, but shows it's a manageable time frame spread out, and also has a two month leeway from the final deadline. Could be June, September, December, February for all we know.

Also, I'll admit to being disappointed in what we're seeing from Sword and Shield (so far). First main game on console, and it feels like a backwards step from Let's Go--barely indistinguishable from the 3DS games, only higher res, from what I've seen. I hope the Direct proves that wrong. Going to miss all the improvements made in Let's Go.

EDIT: Re-watching the trailer, it actually does look better graphically than my initial impression back in Februrary--though I still prefer the vibrant color palette of Let's Go to the more muted colors of Sword and Shield. But my main issue is what I feel the gameplay might be like--I liked a lot of the improvements of Let's Go, such as Pokemon in the overworld, etc. Makes me wonder what other features won't be in Sword and Shield.

FFS. These people are making it really easy to hate on Steve. I guess that makes me a "Boomer".

I think Banjo has more evidence going for him than any other Microsoft character at this point.

Solid burn. I must also contribute this.

Microsoft are really sleeping on such a big marketing pitch to the kiddos. They really dont have much on terms of IP's the appeal to kids aside from Minecraft. If Banjo can appeal to both older and younger people then I feel that has greater lasting and widespread appeal. I can totally see all ages wearing Banjo-kazooie shirts and merch. I always see people of my age range wearing Nintendo 64 shirts as opposed to them wearing Minecraft stuff.

they don't actually know what a boomer is.
It's a meme to claim that someone who doesn't gobble up the latest pop culture is a boomer.

Also, a reply to that tweet is a little ironic: Someone with an Erdrick avatar going "hahaha boomer" when he's mostly relevant to the NES. Or should I say Famicom?

I blame the "30 year old boomer" meme for that perception.

I mean I'm already not a fan of Steve because I think Minecraft is better represented via stage, spirits, and a mii costume. One of the fans of the character being an ass doesn't help anything

Genuine MC fans should hope that Steve ISN'T in this DLC pass. Otherwise, it will vindicate the trolls. If he's not in they'll get bored and move on once their ammo is gone, leaving behind the people who genuinely wanted him.

I've had a Steve "fan" literally stalk me on twitter on and off since last year.

What do you mean by that?
Nintendo and Ubisoft are doing a wild amount of business together. Ubisoft have wanted Rayman in Smash before, and him being in would only further solidify their relationship with Nintendo.

Ubisoft not having a rep in Smash is extremely peculiar from a business standpoint, and Rayman’s the obvious pick

What could be the alternative to this? Because by the look of this Tweet they responded suggests that they aren’t involved with this (1st) Fighter Pass, does this mean they are being reserved for the next DLC?

I mean. Their only fuel is that Steve could be in. Once he does get in they have no fuel anymore when all of us move on. Their trolling is only effective in the speculation cycle. Why would we care about petty fan wars when we know we “lost”.

This is gonna sound weird from someone who is so passionate about Banjo-Kazooie, but Rayman wouldn't be my pick if I got to choose a Ubisoft rep.

Believe it or not, I'd actually be all about Jade from Beyond Good and Evil.

Unfortunately, I'm also painfully aware of the selfishness that lies in my choice, accept it would never happen and acknowledge it probably shouldn't in order to save so many fans the agony of feeling shorted after so many years of hoping.

Goodness knows we understand that position all too well.

So, Gregg Mayles did indeed comment on the situation, a little less than a year ago:

Gregg strikes me as a forward thinking creative type who doesn't think much of projects he's completed (on the 'come back in a decade' joke in N&B, he said he 'expected Banjo to have been long forgotten by now'). I can only imagine he was dejected by the response to N&B; judging by old interviews from the game's release there were a lot more ideas spring-boarded off of the vehicle concept that he wanted to implement in a "Banjo-Fourie", and well, fans wanted a modern take on old material. So it goes...

Rayman is like Megaman. Sure many people would think of Resident Evil before Megaman, but Megaman is the companies pride and joy, and one of the first IPs that put them on the map. (I also like to think of him as their all-around mascot whereas Ryu is mostly their fighting game mascot.) I don't know any Ubisoft IP that made an impact before Rayman hit the scene. It was one of their first biggest properties. The biggest thing hurting his chances is like what others said, he's basically a nobody in Japan. Of course, Erdrick is basically a nobody everywhere except Japan so maybe Sakurai can help both of those characters' exposure where they are needed.

This is a huge relief to me; one of my biggest fears was that Gregg Mayles would gatekeep Banjo due to his apparent disinterest in the franchise. So the decision is out of his hands

I don’t think this is the “business” approach people believe Nintendo are taking though. It’s more a matter of Nintendo wanting the dlc picks to draw in new audiences. Which Rayman wouldn’t really do, as awesome as it would be
