I guess I'm mainly sad due to her words about Steve seeming a bit harsh plus Steve seeming like he could have a personality based on his surroundings and the silly stuff in the game...but, I guess I shouldn't care as she's not someone who's in charge of the game itself, she's just a community manager or someone who works on the Bedrock edition depending on what "Senior Manager" is. Of course, nothing against her opinion, it just feels sorta saddening from someone who may work on the game's stuff and not just someone who passes along community ideas, but Jens is the head developer and director for the creative stuffs or whatever alongside Agnes and they may feel differently, plus another dev said he'd like Steve/a Creeper in Smash so...

...ignoring all that, however, I can do without Steve if we get Banjo-Kazooie - there's always next game, it just kinda hurt to read...

I still can’t get the fact Aubrey actual said that about Steve in that tweet. That’s gonna keep me up all night.

The final shot of his reveal trailer is a recreation of the scene where he stands on the hill firing his gun over the chaos, only this time the Inkling is next to him and firing the Splatling Gun

"WHAAAAA-WHAAAAAAA"
"WHOOMY-!"
Not gonna lie, I unironically would like to see a TF2 character. Never played the game, but I have seen many GMOD/SFM videos with the TF2 characters and crossovers with other Nintendo characters. They have been very noteworthy for years. I would approve.

If that VNN video was truthful at all and Nintendo did approach Valve for stuff. It seems likely that a smash character might have been more of them. PC gaming is not represented in Smash at all. And Valve has plenty of characters they can use that represent PC gaming in Smash. But since that video claimed it was gonna be a Half-Life themed game. Gordon Freeman seems like the more likely choice.

But we all know Heavy would be better.

Now you reminded me of Kitty0706. I'm sad....I miss him dearly...

I'd want Heavy in smash just because I know it would've made him happy if he was still with us.

And yet Goku is somehow a-okay to suggest despite him being in two at the moment.
I feel like if anything, maybe Goku winds up as a Mii Costume, and even that is being overly hopeful.

Like, maybe if Erdrick DOES get in the costume comes along as a nod to Akira Toriyama and it's like what happened to Geno in Smash 4

Would unironically not mind it. It helps that Krazy Koopa TV on Twitter did this:

When you think about it, I don't even think Steve/Banjo are directly in competition with eachother. Yes, they're both under the Microsoft umbrella, but Minecraft is Mojang and Banjo is Rare. If Banjo gets in he won't represent Microsoft, he'll represent Rare (one of the biggest things pointing in his favour are the RARE spirits). I'm sure he'd come with Rare Mii costumes and such.

And even so, with 4 spots left on the pass, it's just as likely that neither are in, than that one or both are in.
Honestly the most damning part of those spirits is the Rare copyrights that were included. Like they could’ve just added them under the presumption Nintendo owned them but they were fully aware they weren’t.
Now this is just speculation but I’m thinking they could be exclusive spirits to those who purchased Rare Replay on Switch just like the Mario Party and Let’s Go ones, which now that I think about it both had 2-3...

I feel legit sorry for the few actual Steve fans out there, their character has been hijacked by a bunch of dedicated trolls.

She's primarily a community manager and not a lead developer (keep in mind, most Nintendo employees were as shocked about "Everyone is Here" as the fans because of how tightly they held it).

Someone tried to shut Aubrey down. She's not having it.

Just because she acts arrogant about it doesn't make her right. She's not a "nobody", but also doesn't seem to be someone so high up in the hierarchy that they'd know firsthand about a super secretive crossover deal.
It's far from the equivalent of Frank O'conner saying Master Chief isn't happening.

She is kinda in the right since the previous poster called her a "nobody". Lots of people are trying to downplay this with petty insults. She's still a higher up in Mojang and would be trusted with the info of Steve's inclusion if he's in. NDA's are quite broad, and if she did break it then she'd be forced to take the first tweet down immedietly, even if she didn't know if he's in or not. Even then, her position would clearly hear rumblings of Smash talk. Is it possible that this can be related to the 100% Steve not happening event leaks by PolarPanda? Rumors are based in some kind of fact, so it is possible. Again, grain of salt here.

Perhaps. But it actually makes LESS sense for her to reply like this if she doesn't know anything. Her "I'll frame it" reply pretty much tells us that guy was completely wrong about his assumptions.

She's a big figure. If, down the line, it turns out that she's wrong, it would look pretty bad. I dunno, I wouldn't say things like that in that position if I didn't know for sure.

Grant would certainly not know anything about Banjo being in Smash, as he's an independent contractor, and doesn't own any of his music for Banjo & Kazooie. He does know the business, and knows Rare, so he may have legitimate reasons for viewing it pessimistically, but it says nothing about whether or not he's in. He'll likely find out when we all do.

As for the possible deconfirmations, I don't consider any of those deconfirmations. The only people who would likely know are those directly involved in the licensing would be my guess. May not, and rumors do get out, but I don't think she or most people working on Minecraft would know.

People forget, the only DLC character in Smash history that was punted into the rumor mill for reasons other than a datamine was an SE character-- and SE's something of a leaky boat (with the closest to that in Smash 4... being a vague Cloud tease that was identified retroactively).

This seems like something that would directly involve Phil Spencer and other Xbox/Microsoft management; while the chief community manager is higher up than the average dev, I still think any sort of MS character in Smash would be something thoroughly above most people's paygrades.

There'd be no reason to even directly consult the devs on this, as Microsoft owns the IP and this sort of crossover would be technically unprecedented.

The guy who asked one of the community managers about Steve in Smash at Minecon also heard a dev there say that he'd love to see Steve or a Creeper in Smash.
Do you have the link to where he said that or did you forget?

There's about a 0% chance that Grant would be told about Banjo being in Smash. He's freelance, so someone would have to break their own NDA to tell him. And there's no way Sakurai would ask him to produce music as he has his own go-to preferences where remixes are concerned.

Steve Mayles (the actual creator of K. Rool/Banjo/Dixie/Yooka-Laylee) had no idea that K. Rool was going to be in Smash.

I think they would at least tell major community managers so they wouldn't act exactly like this in the case of being wrong. They are gonna be all the people spreading the news around the community and hyping people up for it were it to happen.

This is essentially almost word-for-word what Rare commented saying during previous Smash speculation periods (wouldn't be for us to announce) and was seen as a deconfirmation of Banjo.

In fact if this doesn't confirm Steve, then honestly Cuphead is still game.

"After I stopped recording the ACTUAL devs had a light chat about how cool it would be to see Steve in smash and thanked me for the interesting question. One more thing: these devs aren't really big names in the company, so there is a chance that these specific members of mojang are out of the loop, but I figured it was worth a shot because some of them were on the team that made Minecraft Switch Edition. "

well it might still disconfirm Steve but at least someone in the Minecraft teams likes Steve.

It took me forever to find the video, and by the time I find it, it's been posted.

I don't think it deconfirms it--even if they were in the know, I bet this is before DLC was finalized to where they would know, but I don't think they would be. Only those higher up in Microsoft I would think would know, those below would probably only hear rumors.

I was addicted to TF2 for several years, started in 2010 and then fell out in 2016, Heavy would be absolutely Welcoming, his Cartoonish style would fit right in with the Colorful theme of Smash and his personality would be absolutely hilarious in a game like Smash- Both Fearsome and Charismatic.

(if his Finger Taunt doesn't do damage I'll be so peeved)
