I would be happy if it's real and I haven't seen anything yet to write it off.

Despite this, I hate not having Rayman, Tails, Dixie Kong, and Skullkid. Would love to have any of them over Mach Rider for example.

Just remember, if this leak is indeed 100% correct and we have characters like Issac, Geno, and BANJO & KAZOOIE, two characters that were previously thought absolutely impossible and off limits, getting into the game, let alone the base game, I can assure you if DLC is going to become a thing, characters like Dixie Kong, Bandanna Waddle Dee, Skull Kid, Incineroar, Spring Man/Ribbon Girl, Tails, and Rayman will be sure to be the first to be included as DLC characters.

If Banjo does wind up being in, I really do hope that the trailer is tongue in cheek. For example, I want Kazooie to be a smartass and have banter about Nintendo selling Rare to Microsoft or have Nintendo characters have dialogue like in the Banjo Kazooie games like Link with his signature yells or Mario and his "wahoos."

A Banjo-Kazooie revival or reveal trailer probably should poke fun at how they were dead for so long. British self deprecating humor was a huge parts of Nuts and Bolts where they made fun of the originals, Rare's own old games, and the game industry. 10 years later it would be a nice piece of cartharsis to see all that garbage made fun of too, and everyone at Rare knows people make fun of them. They are only reminded if it constantly by hundreds of fans on every social media platform.

If Kazooie were an actual well written character I imagine she would crap all over the split and the Nuts and Bolts situation, and it would be all in good funny humor.

Phil Spencer doesn’t own Microsoft or even Xbox. I’m sure he can take a joke but he’s just one person in a huge corporation

If Square is so stingy they’ll only give Nintendo 2 songs and Sega won’t let them change Sonic’s color, I don’t think openly mocking a third party, even in jest, would fly

I keep reading both sides on this mural thing and it's really ticking me off that they're forgetting one (or several) crucial element of this whole thing: This mural is specifically made for a sky tube display, not for a wall poster. These are not just simple paper/posters, this is completely different material separated into three parts. Plus, there will possibility be light inside. If you wanted to make the characters standout and not get clashed with certain elements in the background, you would make certain edits to the background itself. And for a light being inside, ever tried a lamp with a different shade? It looks different when the light is on, right? Whatever colors their using for this sky tube, it's to make it so the light brings it to life.

I don't understand why no one talks about this. Unless I've missed it.

I'm no expert at this. Just observations I've been making. People are forgetting what this mural's purpose is for.

I feel like the only company who could get away with openly mocking Rare is Rare themselves since they've done it before. Smash is more a place for reverence. If anybody goes to mock Rare, let it be Banjo and Kazooie in the opening of a new game complaining about how they haven't done anything in 10 years.

Completely agree. If anything, if this leak is indeed legit, they should be grateful to Microsoft for giving them the chance to finally reunite with their Nintendo family in one of the biggest, most anticipated games in Smash history! I know for sure I'll be grateful to the combined efforts of Sakurai, Nintendo, and Microsoft for working together to bring about this joyous reunion that I've been dying to see all these years. I mean, sure, it doesn't excuse the years they've wasted away to practically nothing and even been called a dead franchise despite being hailed, revered, and remembered as one of the greatest 3D platformers of all time, but if they manage to get into the base roster of this game, on their 20th anniversary no less, and right before the 20th anniversary of the Smash series in general, it will be the greatest miracle in video game history. The inclusion of Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta, & Simon Belmont has all lead up to these moments. To one of Nintendo's own finally coming home after being stuck in their little blue home in Spiral Mountain for the past 10 + years and being included in video game's hall of fame, that being Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as truly the Ultimate Smash game. And being ushered in alongside the likes of Issac, Geno, the Chorus Kids, and Mach Rider, all except Rhythm Heaven having not had an official return in over 10 (Issac), 20 (Geno), 30 (Mach Rider) YEARS. Its their time to shine in this game celebrating Nintendo's and video game's greatest celebrities and icons.

We thought the same about the August Direct when Simon was pretty much leaked, but it was still amazing.

That was music supporting one character scenario. Richter rocked the internet. (as well as Luigi's near death)

Everyone getting a general blurry picture of the cast with a guy cussing Nintendo is very... different.

So basically the shock and excitement still exists for the first reveal then after that the characters are confirmed and I no longer have to just hope my favorites are in I just know but I still get to enjoy the awesome trailers later. Yup, still not seeing a downside.

The roster being fully leaked in a ugly blurry mess with a message telling off Nintendo and laughing about leaking their stuff... it's not a pleasant way to find out Isaac, Banjo, or anyone else is joining the roster. Seeing them jump out and get their little joins Smash banner is a lot more fulfilling than some ugly leak from a ugly person.

I don't see how anyone could say a blurry leak with a message telling off people is a "good" way for everything to get spoiled.

I'm gonna be excited just to finally have Banjo & Kazooie confirmed to return to a Nintendo console in one of the most anticipated games of all time as part of the greatest fighting game roster ever conceived. And possibly set the stage for them returning to the spotlight with new remasters or new games on both Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

I don't console game as much as I use to by a huge margin, but I could see myself buying or playing some B&K if they brought it back around.

Banjo himself looks like the Smashified render but he’s flying in the banner and Kazooie is making a scared/surprises face that I’ve never seen. Also both of them seem to be looking to their left as if something is coming at them (from their position it looks like Snake is shooting them)

Just the thought of this potentially being real puts a smile on my face. Almost wish I never saw this because I’ll be crushed if it’s fake

I keep going back and forth on this grinch leak. On one hand it just seems to well done to be fake, on the other hand it being too good to be true has me on edge waiting for the dream to end. Also there are some decent arguments against the background. I’m rooting for the Grinch leak, but I am trying very hard to not get my hopes up, but I’m afraid I am failing in that regard.

This was asked over on the Issac thread, and thought it was a good question to ask here! Outside of Banjo & Kazooie, what other newcomers, including those in the leak are you all excited for? Both confirmed and leak newcomers. Personally, this entire leak has been insane to me. If it proves legit, this will be the greatest newcomer roster I’ve seen in any Smash Bros. to date!

The Inklings were an obvious selection from the start and seeing how they play makes me very excited to try them out in Smash!

Daisy is a wonderful addition who looks like she’ll bring a ton of personality to the ladies of Smash! Will definitely be alternating between her and Peach.

Ridley. RIDLEY. Man, where do I begin with him?! Ever since Melee’s opening movie, I’ve been so disappointed with being unable to play as the Cunning God of Death. His inclusion brings another iconic, heavyweight villain to the mix and I can’t wait to terrorize the Battlefield with him!

Simon Belmont, easily my second choice for a third party rep. His unique weapon and immense history with Nintendo made for someone who needed to be in Smash ages ago. After Snake was confirmed to return, and Bomberman coming as an assist trophy, I was convinced Simon wasn’t far behind!

I don’t know much about Richter Belmont, but he was a welcome surprise! I look forward to trying out both of them and comparing and contrasting their style.

I have an avid dislike of Fire Emblem so Chrom’s inclusion made me groan. But I’m willing to give him a play every once in a while, especially if this leak is true and I get who I’ve been wanting for decades!

Dark Samus is a bit more intriguing to me as an Echo Fighter. I’m interested to see how she compares to Samus.

First Ridley, now KING K. ROOL?! What is this reality we’re living in?! Yet another long time want for this game, another iconic, heavyweight villain to add to the mix. I can’t wait to pit him against Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Ridley, etc.!

Isabelle is a precious gem and must be protected at all cost! A welcome newcomer from Animal Crossing who will definitely bring a lot of personality with her.

Mach Rider is not someone I expected but i absolutely wanted in. Either them or Excitebiker, if they’re fast and powerful like Captain Falcon, and bring in another retro NES rep, I’m all for it!

Chorus Kids were an interesting idea but I couldn’t figure out how they worked until people pointed out in the leak that the Conductor is with them. That’s an AMAZING idea that kind of convinced me that the leak might be real. Only Sakurai could come up with an idea like that. The Conductor conducts their battle movements similar to the returning Pokemon Trainer and their Pokemon! That’s a brilliant idea and I can’t wait to see their kooky style in action.

Geno is someone I’ve heard about for years but never understood his popularity. He must be a big deal if he was consistently so high on the ballot options and even Sakurai wanting him in. I’m eager to learn more and see how his move set works in Smash.

Shadow is someone I could’ve done without but if he’s in, I’ll be eager to try him out! He could be another anti-hero villain slot similar to Dark Pit, and it would be interesting to see how he compares to Sonic.

I’m all for Ken’s inclusion as the ORIGINAL Echo Fighter. It’ll be cool to see if he has flames added to his moves compared to Ryu.

My thoughts on each newcomer...

Daisy - She was a surprise inclusion but nonetheless I'm looking forward to play as Daisy as I've grown to like her more than Peach over the years. She definitely shows that personality.

Inklings - They were someone who I very much expected to get in easily. They're from a very popular new franchise and I like to see how they'll play.

Ridley - What can I say? His confirmation really hyped me for this game and made me return to Smashboards. He has been of my most wanted characters for years and has been dealt a lot of ridicule from detractors for years. He looks awesome and beastly to play as. A long overdue addition.

Simon Belmont - A highly requested 3rd party character who has been on Nintendo systems since the NES days. A very welcome addition in my eyes.

Richter Belmont - Honestly, when I first saw the name Richter on the Smash website, I had no idea who he was. I was surprised that Castlevania got two reps. He has a great design and looks fun to play as.

Chrom - He may be another Fire Emblem character, but as long as I got my top two in K. Rool and Ridley, I was very ok with Chrom getting in. Should be interesting how he differs from Ike and Roy.

Dark Samus - Dark Samus was AT that I wanted to see get the promotion. I was pretty ecstatic when Metroid got two reps in this game after getting nothing since Brawl. Can't wait to see how Dark Samus differs from Samus.

K. Rool - My most wanted character. I never have been so thrilled and hyped until I saw his trailer in August. One of the biggest inclusions and his moveset looks amazing. References to his boss fights in the DKC games and DK64 plus he has a kounter of all things too! Really hyped to play as K. Rool.

Isabelle - Not a big Animal Crossing guy, but Isabelle is a nice addition to the roster. She should be fun to play as.

Isaac - One of my top requested characters now. I've wanted him in since seeing his AT in Brawl. I recently started playing Golden Sun and I'm enjoying the game thus far. I can't wait to see how Isaac's moveset will look like in action.

Geno - I like Geno, but I never really understood how he got popular over the years as a popular request for Smash. Once he gets in, it'll be due to pure fan demand. It will an ultimate victory of irrelevancy. He does have some cool abilities from SMRPG and could translate will into Smash.

Chorus Kids - I'm indifferent to them. They never really interested me, but should be interesting on how they'll play. Plus a new franchise in Smash is a bonus.

Mach Rider - I remember well of the trophy and the music track in Melee. I wonder Mach Rider will look and play on the battlefield?

Ken - An obvious pick since Echos became a thing. I have liked Ken for some time now. He'll be fun to play as.

Shadow - Sonic Adventure 2 was fun game to play and you learn about Shadow's abilities and whatnot. I've wanted to see another Sonic rep and I'll be eager to play as Shadow to see how he differs from Sonic.
