falco has punishable holes in his leg/laser silliness. it's not airtight unless you're playing against mango or peepee, and even then, i'm not sure. it's REALLY demoralizing to play a losing matchup against someone who's already better than you, thoughidk if this is a question you can really answer mango but
i play against a falco that will just sit back and laser till he can come in with a nair that's really hard to punish (or so it seems, maybe i just suck balls). so unless i can powershield, i end up stuck in my shield with a nair coming at my face, which leads to lots of pressure.
doesn't really feel like i can stomp oos without getting punished, letting my shield down in place in any form seems to get my punished because of shine, so i'm forced to just roll away, but falco has started just ****ing dash attacking my rolls which leads to another 500% combo.
so like, am i doing something wrong while in these situations, or should i work on just not getting in these situations in the first place
there's a lot that goes into the neutral game vs falco, so we can't exactly tell you "do X in Y situation, and things will be all good in the hood." since melee is actually a good game, it's not about one-dimensional mixups, but you just have to learn a lotttt about small details in the game that will each help you a little bit, and eventually (ideally), they'll eventually propel you forward and make a big difference. also, little tricks go a REALLY long way against falco because he's so fragile and because he thrives on being able to lock you down. everything you add to your game will make it that much harder for falco to control you, which means a lot.
a useful trick (idk how well it works with falcon) is to run at falco, take a laser or two to make him think that you're going to try and manmode through his lasers. if you convince falco you're gonna do that, falco is probably going to throw out an attack to beat yours, and if that happens, just DD back/WD back/jump over him if he tries to do stuff.
another useful thing (imo) as falcon vs falco is to use empty jumps (with wavelands) to claim some space and to make falco think you're going to use a fullhop/DJ approach. so like, jump over falco's laser and make it look like you're going for a fullhop nair/bair/knee. if you make them expect an aerial, they'll probably back away, try to fight you, or shield. if they back away or shield, then you're free to push a little bit further until falco's trapped in the corner. if they try to fight you, then successful bait is successful.
keep in mind, falco isn't always going to fall for these things either, so you're going to need a backup plan. if they don't go for the bait, then you'll be able to apply pressure or act aggressively in SOME way, although there's way too much variability in that to begin explaining it. you're on your own for that one. remember to keep your testicles with you, since you're probably going to have to try a lot of stupid ballsy bull**** before you figure out what actually works.
