im doing that up air tech chase on platforms

the only thing im having trouble is getting to float when i want to...
i was reading some stuff but it was still kinda unclear to me..

so i jump and to float i just press down?
do i have to hold whatever i use to jump while holding down or can i let the jump button go?

mad nooby questions but when i get this down my peach is gonna raaappe

For real. I can't do all that crazy technical FCing. And for some reason her CG is difficult for me. I can't get her to dash forward in time to regrab. I know it's just a timing thing, but I have yet to get the hang of it.

there aren't a lot of guaranteed consecutive hits with her, so I just practice my tech skill

Execution wise? She's not too hard. Playing her effectively however, is.

P. C. Jona, if you want to know how to float cancel correctly:

press x/y, then down, hold x/y, release joystick, then attack, after the hit-box comes out, release x/y, press down to fast fall, then you can jab/grab/run away.

That's the main way to do it.

Also, while in the air for whatever reason:

press DOWN FIRST, then x/y, then the same things from above. Pressing down first ensures that you don't waste your second jump. That's important if you're floating off the stage and need to attack, then recover.

Doing some of the crazy stuff is sometimes hard. But playing her effectively really isn't all THAT hard.

is this true? it feels like you have quite a bit of landing lag and can be punished really easily. unless you have a quick few frames to fastfall it or something.
