What happened in teams? And link the vids please...
This happened :(

Now, I will say *johns* that I was pretty darn sick and couldn't fall asleep the night before. I was also too nauseous to eat and get any energy until Steak and Shake after the tourney, which I... promptly threw back up. So a couple contributing factors lead to extreme loopiness.

ANYWAY, we've beaten Iori/Myztek before and I honestly would favor us to win over them every time. We were up 2-0 when they switched to fox/falco, then proceeded to lose to very silly mistakes and SDs for the next three matches. The games were close though, and I'm confident in our victory when Vts doesn't have to carry a near-useless teammate. However, I already accepted going in that this tourney wasn't going to be good for me, so it's OK. Still a little sad to reach the cusp of victory and lose though.

The matches are on the MeleeMemphisTV stream right now, but I think the TO plans on uploading to Youtube. Ace, Vts, and Vice all have good sets, so look for those (esp. Vice vs Nite).

And that look on my face in the picture is 99% one of sickness and exhaustion, not salt haha.

Arby looks like such a **** in that picture. Also he looks like he wanted to beat everyone else's *** into the ground with his bare fists. :D

looking pretty good, we should set up a video tab for streams and link to arby's youtube for tournaments at stuff.

over all good so far, at picture looks kind of meh tbh, maybe just a giant melee logo as wall paper would be fine.
I would have to agree about that picture, I just couldn't figure out what to add to split the navigation from the content.

I'm not sure how I would implement an elo system since I'm not that versed in web development. :urg: maybe it's time to learn some java.
Why are we making an entire website dedicated to arkansas smash?

I mean we're good and all, but we're not that good lol

The building of this website has nothing to do with how good we are. The entire purpose is to provide a user friendly tool for our community. It would be particularly useful for those new members that get overwhelmed by smashboards. There will be other awesome goodies incorporated as well. Such as, a state only elo system (basically a power ranking). There will be a lot of other cool stuff.

This might set a precedent for other smash communities.

Elo just for the state wouldn't work. Would you only count matches vs other players from the state? What about matches vs OOS people? How would you keep track of their elo? You're better off just going to the DB and using the regional tool to view just Arkansas. Maybe link to it from your site. Or link to player profiles, ect.

I would only count local smash fest to this. Any tournaments that bring in OoS people and OoS tournaments would only go to the DB. I did plan to grab the player elos from the DB it show national ratings. Ether way, the regional elo system will be far off because I'm not sure how to make it. It would have to be done in ether php or java or just a program on my computer.

I think a local elo system would be more realistic for new players to show where they are in the community. Another plus is the sample size would be much higher providing a more accurate rating.

Local tournaments are important to the overall accuracy of the db. I don't know how the sample size could be larger on a local scale than on a national scale.

You guys are overthinking this. Couldn't this be solved by simply posting a list of the current SSBPD rankings of all the AR players and just updating it as they change?

That was the original plan. Except I would do some awesomeness to make it automatically update itself. Honestly, I don't really wanna program a elo system. :urg:

First priority is to get the design of the site finished.

You should move to Springfield :)
:p

Just made up all those old brackets, including POE3. All that's left of what we've been to is FAP.

My tourney history is almost completely documented. Cool stuff.

Yes, we hope to design a nice-looking UI inspired by Melee's interface but made to include key PC features (mouse support, chat system) and common emulator options. We won't have a lobby for the initial release, but I do hope to implement it soon after. Another feature I hope to implement at some point is a "ranked match" feature which tracks wins and losses. Don't expect those things for a while, though.
Once we support custom textures, my plan is to allow you to select a custom texture for your character, and your opponent will also see you in that texture (if he has the option enabled). You can also enable sharing for your texture; after the match, your opponent will be asked if he wants to download the texture for himself. I think this will encourage people to design their own textures and use them against their opponents.
COOLER STUFF

You're so luck Arby. I'm missing quite a few 2005-2006 norcal and socal tournies, as well as 10 or so from a central Cali venue called level one, and about 5 darkrain/cherry smash tournies. Also MLG Vegas 05. Of the Cali tournies, I'm missing MLG LA 05, and two or three Ken biweeklies. Also pools from the first and second e52 tournies. And a Kansas tourney that Jace hosted.

This one even has brackets posted but they're expired :(

Ahh that sucks. To the future!

I do wish I had SMYM 11 pools. Beat An|)a1e at my first tournament ever and prevented him from making bracket. Still my funniest accomplishment

Course there was a good 1.5 year period after that where he would have owned me hardcore. It would be closer now, but I'd very likely still lose.

Melee online looks incredible. Hopefully I can keep my grades up while still playing.

:/

It's not like you come by to play me or anything. I've had my gamecube packed up for 3 weeks now.

Besides there is still a chance that I will change my mind, but it's unlikely. We still have all summer.

Arby, you should come with me. CA is too expensive.
