The game is only over when you make it over. 9 times out of 10 the reason someone rages is because they think they are better than their opponent, but they keep losing. Here is one very important concept that my long lost buddy, arby once told me. "Play to learn not to win."

If you want I can give you some hints on how to beat Ziv.

I'm not going to argue with you in the Arkansas topic anymore. I had a long post typed out but it's pointless. The last thing I'm going to say about it in here is this: You have many mental blocks that will impair your ability to get better at smash brothers in ANY community. Saying "It's just YOU" is a mental block. This is 100% factual because you have no supporting physical evidence of otherwise. In fact, I'm sure if you ask anybody if having a problem against a certain player for no rhyme or reason could possibly be anything other than a mental block they'll tell you no. It's not because of the skill gap, because you are supposedly fine playing other players that are better. It's not because of the character matchup, because I can use any character against you and get the same result. It's simply your mind making something up out of thin air. Hey guess what? I can't type very fast on Thursdays. I don't know why. It's not the keyboard or the computer. It's not my mood. It's not anything but a mental block and it's fake to anybody but the person that believes that it's true. Saying that you can play ANY smash player on the planet besides me is just silly.

EDIT: I can tell you how to beat me right now. Play patiently. I'm not a very patient player and will almost always move in to attack first. Bait me and then punish. Watch my recovery. I'm habitually bad at recovering. I use the same methods nearly every time. When you tech roll, use the most obvious roll choice. I consistently count on my opponents to make the "best" roll option. If you are near the ledge and tech rolling, it seems smartest to tech away from the edge. Because of that a lot of players will roll towards the ledge. I tend to tip my hand a little early and preemptively prepare for that option instead of being less hasty and covering other options better. Use characters I have little experience with. I will often drop matches in a set to players I'm technically much better than when they use one of the following characters: Marth, Jiggs, ICs, Donkey Kong, Link, Young Link, Zelda, Pikachu, Pichu, Yoshi, Doctor Mario, Mario, Luigi, Game N Watch. Make johns while we play. I have this bad habit of letting up when my opponent makes a half ***** excuse as to why they are losing. Maybe your controller is not working right, or your hand hurts. Focus on quick combo's. My reaction time is pretty below average. When I get hit several times in rapid succession my DI is nonexistent and I get to the point where I'm just watching the combo's. Use more pro-level habits that I'm not used to playing against, like light shield ledgeguarding Marth. Since nobody we play with actually does that, it really throws me off and will often lead to a stock for you at very low percent. Or do something other than trying to double shine or WD out of shine. Watch my most recent set vs cookie monster. He actually short hop nairs out of shines and then falls away out of grab. Nobody in our crew does that. We all just WD out of shine or try to double shine. Or land an aerial and don't go in to a shine. Try a jab, another aerial, a shine-grab, ect. The fact is I'm really not a good player and I'm not surprised at all that you or Yoshiman or anybody else knows several ways to beat/punish me in game. The game is about execution though and I can assure you that if you remove your lame mental blocks you will execute a lot better than you do now.

It seems to be that you're convinced that I care at all about losing you.
I don't care if you're better than me, and me losing to you has no influence on anything.

On a completely unrelated note. I'm awesome.
Totally
Completely
Awesome
Plus I didn't know Lily from How I met your Mother is the SAME actor as Buffy's nerd girl friend.
It just made my life.

Nah no drama in here really

MO is just silly with their drama ;), I'll come over to MO sometime during summer if someone will house me for 2-3 days and give some lessons to improve and become better than me lol

no worries, that's out of state drama. We don't deal with drama in AR. Except when i'm beating some people in soul caliber 2. Then there's all kind of drama. :awesome:
It's not really drama though. Seems like something that legitimately needs to be discussed. This thread also sees its fair share of BS, so I don't mind something serious going down for once.

I would also argue that we've had very similar conversations here and otherwise. Ziv and Wretched could have easily been me and Vts on another day.

I'll just say that I think having someone who counters you is an amazing tool for improvement. Most people just make a mental block of the situation and miss the opportunity. That person is like a robot which has downloaded a number of your bad habits. Seriously, in what competition would this not be a good thing to have? Observe a particular scenario you are consistently punished in, figure out why this is happening, then work to correct it.

Success is immediately apparent, as that person's thoughtless domination of the situation is diminished. You force them to be consciously aware of your options again and re-enter the mixup game. I speak from experience when I say countering someone is like coasting your way to victory. No matter how well they are otherwise playing, if you've downloaded enough situations where they don't sufficiently mix it up, you are going to win without much effort. But this DOES NOT NEED TO BE THE CASE. Apathy and anger are worthless answers. Throw them out and improve.

TekkenxStreet Fighter tournament this Saturday in Texerkana. Corbin (the guy who constantly beats me) is going. This will let the world see what he is really made of. Hope he does well.

Any particular reason why it was so bad?
First of all, the cast were awkward playing their roles. There was very little sword play, which is something I want when I watch a movie with musketeers. All the action scenes were that annoying looking slow motion clips. It's basically main stream pandering. And it looks like there will be a sequel. All I hear from this movie is, "I wanna be Pirates of the Caribbean." You can go ahead an watch it, but you'll understand afterwards.

I would not be surprised if Arby was beating Mango and PP within a year with the way he thinks. It's inspirational.

Also lol @ yoshiman the above post is funny.

Oh and Arby, while having young children I watch my fair share of Phineas and Ferb, and Spongbob too. And I have to agree. They are both good for all ages.

A lot of the way I think comes from those extremely large PP posts lol. Or Mango's old three line nuggets of wisdom he'd drop here and there. Those guys (and KK, and others) end up saying a lot of the same stuff, in their own ways. You begin to see a pattern, a blueprint for what it means to be a good player. But the truly beautiful thing is how purely these concepts extrapolate to other competitive activities and life in general. Like I've said before, I really believe that getting good at something is just a big lesson in human psychology. That wisdom - learning to think about how people think - will always find application.

My mom's coworker has provided us with a recommendation that may well turn out awesome. He's a frugal type with an eye for value, like G. Vice, so this won't be another Brazilian disaster :bee: It's a Japanese restaurant that's been on Rodney Parham since 98 or thereabouts. The dinner prices are a little high (8-14 dollars), but the lunch special is the real attraction here. You get the same exact meal as at dinner (which is like three courses already), except with even more food. And it's super cheap.

Look at those prices! Chicken teriyaki has good reviews :D

So Adam and I were playing tonight, and I think he ended my ability to be annoyed at him for forever.
When the shiek's on peach's came up, he beat me the first two matches, and I was getting rather annoyed
But He told me when I was irritated at him just quote Lily from 'how I met your mother' and say 'yousonnaofa*****'

I 2 stocked him the next game on dreamland
And made him fall apart on battlefield and 3 stocked him.
Then he got his game back a little on pokemon stadium, and we had a very close game till I lost with him at post 100 percent from a down throw to slap :'(

That sounds almost Rusty: Adam and I are also bring a popcorn popper, popcorn kernels, rice, ramen, and some juice.

Don't know what happened to me on dreamland and battlefield. i forgot how to play.

And yum. i love Japanese food. i get to eat too little of it. i guess it's karma for betraying my chinese ancestry. Also yellow people food. Sounds tasty. Something to eat with the plain *** rice and popcorn jason demanded we bring.

Edit: Goodly lordly cheaply. curiously humanly negatively abusingly lunchly pricely.

This is not a viable solution for me. In fact, the issue is exacerbated as my cat hits every key on the keyboard when it lays down. Bad stuff starts happening all at once. It's a nerd's nightmare.

But man is he cute :awesome:
lucky, i want a cat ><

also talking to me ex to see if she wants to go play laser tag, since the twins will be down we can have a team of 5 people and own everyone during the week day since it's like endless play :)

but might just take her with me to make it a semi-date cus i'm lame like that lol
