Hey guys, I'm thinking about making A.S.S a website. It would be for both brawl and melee. It would list members and their elo. Still trying to decide on other stuff to add.

More Importantly, if I did this would you guys use it? I would hate to build something that disappears into the depths of google's last page.

good games yesterday I really had fun. I'm sorry I enjoy hearing the twins argue so much, I used to kinda think it was all in good fun but I realize now that they are being genuine.

We're super competitive. ridiculously. it's usually all in good fun for me. trolling and stuff. jason sometimes takes it too seriously though. which is when we end up in fights.

I drove back went I visited jack and the flash blizzard happened over night and was crazy, saw about 20 cars in ditches cus it was so bad (mine being one of them for a little bit cus it was so bad my car slide off the side when I was going 5mph in it). fun trip, just never going to visit when a blizzard is coming lol.

So it looks like I can't play quake anymore. Cox is sending all my connections through Georgia before going to Texas. In short the only way I can play is to predict where my opponent will be 2 seconds before they get there. Kinda hard and not fun.

Also... what is something I should practice in melee that's not super obvious but will make me a better (shield-dropping, light-shielding, shield angling, etc. [doesn't have to be a shield tech... those are just the ones I thought of...])?

It didn't flood in Fayetteville, but it rain a whole lot.

Something very useful that you could practice is wavedashing in and out of shield. And when you play against someone, try using it against them. If you know they are going to attack wavedash at them with your shield up, make them hit your shield and grab them.

Psh, that one doesn't count. Iori is a scrub and should be treated as one. Everyone gets lucky every once and a while.

meh, they call me bad. All they did was stand at a distance and spam ****. Most of the time, they spammed so much ****, that I couldn't see my character. You just wait, I'll go out and buy my a ps3 and graces eventually. I'll then proceed to beat it on it's hardest difficulty by myself.

I can teach you all 3 of those character , well maybe not marth, I know what to do with him, but i can't do it lol

arby would be best for marth/falcon since those are his main, now for just over all skill and becoming a smarter player, i can teach you a little bit if you really put your heart into the game.

I'd love to dump myself into the game, my only problem is finding someone else that will do the same. Yoshiman is a great help, but he's not always available... Maybe I can get one of my good friends on here and that'll make him play more.



EDIT: Also, I'm planning on getting some kind of recording device so I can track my progress. Any recommendations? (remember, college student budget)

If it wasn't for this job, I would play all day any day, but I can't let myself off the hook for taking a break from college. I'm almost to the point where I'm ready to be a full time student again. I basically decided, why should I be comfortable with a job that I may or may not be layed off from. I figure I'll be more comfortable with a high paying career that might interest me a little more than babysitting dumb people at a hotel. I've got to wait maybe another month or so until a couple more nerve endings pop to blow this joint. Gotta make sure I know what I want in life.

I'm currently considering taking all those general ed courses that I still need at nwacc. Why pay extra for classes I don't care about.

Arby, I will not be moving until I finish my BS in computer science. It's just something I've got to do. By moving, I mean going to California or something crazy like that.

The Dazzle DVC 100 is a reliable standby. It's what I (and most of the community) use. Gamebridge is fine too.

I'm sorry G. Vice but it's the best way to do it. If Elo becomes as successful as it could, what's to stop somebody from dodging a match just to keep their Elo from dropping? I explained earlier how we would do it but you may have missed it. If you don't show up to the tournament at all, you will not lose any points. If you show up and don't play your matches, you will lose points for those matches. Even if you have to leave because that is very subjective. All I can say is that for now, don't put too much stock in the Elo because it's still very new and needs a TON of more data to be more accurate. What other tournaments did you go to and do well at? Lets find files for them and upload them. Or even bracket images, I'll recreate them in .tio for you. Or results on AiB, which I can extract into .tio very quickly.

I can say this though, at that Intimikill one, I tied with both KosMos and AustinRC in my pool, but the matches say that I lost. Also that this Jenzo guy beat me but whatever. I play melee because I love the game not for an elo rank. I don't think I went to any other tournaments besides MIST, Intimikill, and a few of the Arkansas specific tournaments.

I don't see what the problem is except you having an ego about your elo. Trust me, not a good idea. Even in the chess world, if you concentrate on your score you will only get worse.

I don't know, I wouldn't say I have an ego about my elo score. I have an ego in general yeah, but would anyone want something that they felt as untrue posted up for the public eye to see?

I just have my pride man, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

I'm free during the day, and probably the majority of the night as well. Spring break is sadly almost over though, and it'll be harder to get a session together.

ALSO, Seif! I was talking about this with Arby. You know when I couldn't beat that wolf for a while? I'm pretty sure the thing that was happening was that when I was doing thunderblade to make him vulnerable to a hit, I was accidentally holding down "O," which I recall now "alters an arte." So I think you can literally alter all beta-artes by holding them down. In my case it had alot of landing lag and was doing more harm than good, but it definitely could increase the depth of the fighting system considerably.

Also, Yoshi, there's a good kind of pride and a bad kind of pride. I've got a touch of each.

I discovered something too. Remember how Cheria got the Accuracy buff and I said "Man, who cares about that?" Turns out ACC determines how likely your attacks will interrupt or stun the enemy. Likewise, EVA determines how likely YOU won't be stunned. Suddenly that stat became way more important.

Yeah Ziv, can the database reflect ties yet? Intimikill pools were best of 2, and there were 1-1s all over the place (such as Vice and ARC/KOSMOS). Also Iori and darkrain. They were tied for first in the pool (and 1-1 in their set), and played a follow-up third game, which Iori won with Mewtwo. Is there a way to show this in the DB? As it is, it shows darkrain winning - about the furthest thing from the truth.

@Seif: The twins still want to see Hunger Games tomorrow. Whatchu say?
