Wow. I honestly thought I'd be somewhere up there. lol. I guess placing solid above 5th in all T.O. tournies doesn't really matter. AH WELL! S'all part of the challenge.

Erm. Bread pwns. GO JIH.

Aaaaand, more T.O. tournies = more opportunities for lesser-knowns to make the PR.

^_^

Peeeace.
I looked at your bracket from the past tournament, nothing impressive.

Vwins is correct. There are only 3 people from toronto on the list (one of them apparently has quit?) so coming top 5 in a toronto tournament doesn't count for as much as coming top 5 in an Ottawa/Quebec tournament.
It was Toronto + Chet, Bam, Vwins, Jih, and Jarc, so I'd say it's pretty impressive. Not to mention he went toe to toe with Bam's falco. Raynex for PR.

That does not really prove anything. Chet, bam, vwins and jih all placed higher than him. how does that prove something? I have not looked at the brackets for the tournament, but if Andy says they aren't real impressive then they must not be.

The fact is, previous NNR tournaments really do not hold much weight in this. (some may call this a john on my part)

And that is simply because we've only done double elim, and our average skill level in Toronto is not great.
So getting third for example in a place where there are only a few picks of the litter = not that meaningful

The Nov 25th tournament however had a much better turnout skill wise.

My $0.02

That shoul not affect Raynex's consideration on the PR, though. His bracket was laughable, and he lost when faced with people of actual skill. I've never met him though, so I should not be the one to judge. Same goes for V2k2 by the way, I don't know how good he is but his bracket was O.O.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that the brackets on the 25th were still lollable. Ron should not have won third, but that's how it works. I need to learn how to set up pools

Pools should be done manually and not by some random program, random gay bracket $hit is occuring too much in the past tournies, please put this to an end if your organizing a tournament... Take the little time it takes on break to put forth a serious bracket, with the top on PR spread out evenly, not allowing "Noobs (dont take it offensively) " to have a free ride to third since they would only have to beat lower players to get it.

The programs are good, it's just the users that have to use them properly.

At STYD, there was a seeding system used.
There were 2 programs used: 1 for double-elim brackets (crews and teams, no seeds were established) and a program for singles pools.

The program for singles (andy's) was perfect for pools, we tried one setting and it failed, so we tried again while tweaking stuff, and all the seeds were spread evenly through the pools.
Unfortunately, everything went too slow, the regional were too long, so we got out of time, and had to switch to double elim.
Sadly, we forgot to check if the seeds were spread evenly, but with the settings, the brackets were set to "worst to best", pitting the best against each other. If we had checked the bracket before announcing them, everything would have been alright.

ToS2 brackets were perfect. Fogel did a great job, and we were all aware of the rules. 1st in a pool would face 4th in another pool, and so on.
The top players went on, it was MLG worthy.

The last NNR tournament brackets were unseeded and sucked, because nobody bothered to create/fix them properly.

So basically the programs are ok, we just need to double-check on them, cuz the comps aren't doing the job, we are.

EDIT: Rimi called lucky 3rds "noobs". lol

Chester and I says: This is not the place to spam. Use the montreal thread, I don't care, but not here. In other words, don't spread your stupidity in every threads you see, especially not this one. I am more than kind to let you guys a WHOLE thread to SPAM, and notice that no one else on the board got this... ''privilege''.

So like I said, I'll not prive myself from giving infractions if anyone (especially jarc and vexed) posts something totally useless (jarc) or simply off-topic (vexed).

Jih, connel left his cube in your car. If you could bring that to the next tourny, or maybe we'll get it if we come there first, that would be great. Just hold on to it for now. Thanks

Actually more than just our community has the "privilege" that you have oh so kindly granted us with your magical amazing moderating powers. Every community has their own threads and they are all filled with spam.

Anyways, all threads no matter what the topic will have people spamming in them. It's the internet. Get over it.

my post wasn't even talking about you, Dice. Why are you feeling offensed by it?

Anyway, I hope you feel better now that you ''suggested'', again, how I should mod. And I don't know what you are talking about, since in every other threads, the spam level is WAY lower, sometimes inexistant (costa rica thread). If you read some other threads beside the EC Canada threads, you wouldn't have said that.

I find it funny how I all grant you, yes dice, the choice to spam in the montreal thread... You won the montreal thread war, you guys won it. You can post as much as you want, you can flame, I don't mind and I'll not ban or warn anyone because you all wanted it that way. But now that I don't want that chaos in THIS thread in particular (because I know it'll happen anyway, it's a PR thread afterall), you act like I am abusing my modship?

The montreal thread always been the spammiest thread on smashboards, It is just impossible to change what is said in it. But this thread is brand new, so I still have the chance to make of this thread a thread maybe as clean as the costa rican thread...

Yeah, you obviously can't do that... If retaining yourself from spamming is something you can't control, too bad. If you can't get satisfied of what you can post, it's not my problem.

Thanks for re-opening the thread Wak, oh and you should just delete those previous posts (or at least just mine), no point in having them there.

Hmm, for consistency, we looked as far as No Mercy vs The World when it comes to pkm, test, me. Other than that, everyone else has improved in a very noticeable manner, so for most, it starts around ToS1. Some tournaments were excluded (NNR tourneys, SFF). All in all, improvement was a big factor in the top 10 I'd say. Then tournament placings were influencial. At least I believe so, I'm really tired.

and I don't agree with you. All the crews were perfectly (and I don't use the word often) seeded so that each crew/region was perfectly split up in each pool. The brackets were made accordingly, placing the 1st from one pool against the 4th from another. This is how pool are supposed to be made. You fought your friends early in the brackets? Blame yourself and your friends for not all placing 1st of your respective pool.

hey Jih what does "J" stand for in your signature?

i think biweeklies could play a role in the power rankings. lets say Jarc is like owning everyone, we could make another section under the top 15 and put smashers in the to be considered section. or something.

Friendlies matches can't be take in consideration
I think it would be good for consistency. Like let's say jarc comes in 3rd in the next montreal tourney, his placement in the PR would obviously be way lower than that because he only has that one tourney to show. But if he were to get a high ranking in the biweeklies, it would be easier to give him the proper placement.

EDIT: 444 posts, and not a spam post! what are the chances?
