i think its a lot more easier/common to overestimate your own skill in melee.

i overestimated my skill,

I don't think it's possible for a new guy to place top 3 in any area that has an ounce of a Melee scene. Brawl is a bit different, but it's still extremely unlikely. However, Calgary has no Brawl scene so anyone's fair game. =/

no, im sure he meant a long time ago. paul played the same time allan played, its just he flew under the radar most of the time.

TBH, when I joined the community I thought I was either going to:
1. Be like the only one dedicated enough to bother learning adv techs and stuff in the entire city and be ahead by a lot
2. Be destroyed by a few hundred people that were already into the competitive scene for a decade or so.

I never thought I would be decentish, but get into contact with the single digited amount of hardcore smashers left in the city through university.
