If I played BlazBlue I'd main... either Jin or Tager.

Jin would be my high tier and Tager would be my GnW

I'm here, enjoying Brawl for all its worth. :3

It's fun when you're using such a broken character, and people allow him in tournaments. It's like using Mewtwo in R/B. :bee:
Metaknight? :x

what happened to Olimar

I don't have patience to stand still and wait for my opponents to run blindly into my attacks anymore. He can't force someone that has taken the time to learn how to deal with the camping to do anything. Unless their name is R.O.B. or Ganon, all the characters have really reliable ways to kill oncoming pikmin to refresh their attacks. (You don't even have to kill them to refresh your attacks. You just have to knock them off/keep them away/prod them. And considering they don't take damage below 2%, some characters can just poke at them over and over until they get bored. >_>; )

An opponent can take all the time they need to just play it safe, wait for those inevitable pivotgrabs, and get him to the ledge. It's boring and frustrating when someone actually does it correctly for a bit.

Oh, and did I mention...

  • Stupid-horrible rolls.
  • 3rd floatiest character behind Jigglypuff and Samus.
  • 8th worst horizontal maneuverability.
  • Virtually non-existent priority (too difficult to explain, really. Trust me. T_T)
...yeah. Not good when you're cornered.

MK is easy sauce. You don't even ever get cornered because he can just reset the position with... half his moves if he's ever put in a "bad" spot. In fact, the tornado, an attack with literally broken priority (I've heard that it was actually programmed incorrectly by the developers.) is probably best used when under pressure, lol.

Let's look at MK as a whole now.

  • Best approach game.
  • Best offstage game.
  • Quickest attack to range ratio out the roof
  • Ungimpable recovery by 99% of the cast excluding himself (Marth can do something at least.)
  • Most general frame traps.
  • Great shield pressure. (Two dairs and a tornado will rip through just about every shield, if not every.)
  • Great combo game.
  • Top MK players around the nation getting praised for doing well with a laughably easy character to use once you get used to his style...
How can't that be fun.

/rant. >.>

edit: I forgot to mention that few people even like fighting Olimar. I always have more fun when others are having fun. :) Though I will resort to camping to get the job done sometimes. <_< I'm a Spike inside.

You need to drop Brawl and play Melee. You could of just said "GAY" and it would of summarized that whole post.

But yeah, I understand, it can be hard to play a character you love. I understand switching to a higher-tier character.

You've certainly done a lot of thinking about it, Dan. Just do whatever you enjoy the most, no matter what that may be (as long as it's not hurting anyone else, hah). Have you gone through most of the cast yet, as far as playing goes?

I like them both. I recently started practicing my technical skill in hopes it'd help me in Brawl some. I couldn't even do my regular pivotgrabs correctly sometimes at the last tournament I went to. >.> And as mah man Moogle once said, you could put it like this: Brawl is flag football, and Melee is tackle. Both fun in different ways.

Indeed, I have. I'd have to say I find Meta Knight, Jigglypuff, and the ICs the most enjoyable to play with at the moment. Sheik's a beast as well, but she's waaaaaaaaaaay, way too technical than I originally thought. T___T She seems more technical than a lot of Melee characters. ;X

And yet despite all those silly failures Olimar has, you still do very well with him :)
It's much easier to do well with someone you've grown to love in the original games. :)

sheiks a beast and she's probably the most potentially technical character in brawl
but honestly all you have to do with sheik is aerials and jabs and ftilts lul learning to DACUS greatly increases your options, but its really not necessary

i like when people like dangr who actually know something about brawl talk about it. it makes me remember that it's a good game.

then everyone else starts yapping and makes me .____.

olimar is sort of a balanced character. he's just a pain in the *** to fight because he has the weird, huge, disjointed hitboxes that stay out forever that you can barely see on the screen.

like i want to go to tournaments because they are fun but i really think i lack the ability to get really good at this game

Meh, I was too hasty in reverting back to the good 'ol "Melee>Brawl" argument, but I just hate it when I see a very good Brawl player essentially say "Play Metaknight, win games."

I think Olimar is top tier.

-Kills really early
-high damage grab combos
-pivot grabs
-2nd best projectile in the game (Falco's being the best)
-whistle armor
-great range (wierd priority shenanigans)

If you can just DI right and whistle cancel at the right times then Olimar's recovery won't be such a huge issue (unless he's facing Meta Knight/ROB).

Olimar's a great character, he just has difficulties with Marth, Meta Knight, and maybe Wario.

But I support more Meta Knights. I hate fighting Olimar.

if olimar had a good recover or even a recovery that wasn't ridiculously terrible he'd probably be 1st or 2nd on the tier list.

honestly what put metaknight over all the other characters is his utterly unstoppable recovery. that's really the only 'broken' thing about metaknight because since day one half of what smash was about was that 'being off of the stage is supposed to be disadvantageous"...with mk though he's like untouchable, ungimpable.

i'd much rather fight metaknight than olimar though.

Dan, we are going to hate any character you start maining because you will probably be kicking our butts with them. So, I suggest you just play the character you love to play instead of trying to stay on everyone's good side. I personally like the fact that you play olimar and not metaknight because it reminds me that you don't have to main MK to be a pro. Of course, Reflex also reminds me that you can just be pro with PT...

I'm not quitting everyone but MK all the time. I'll still use a bunch of other characters for fun, haha. It's just that I'd like to use MK/ICs more often for tournaments.

It's really not a big deal, guys. T__T

if you already have a case, you could look into purchasing just a motherboard + 2gb ram + a cheap radeon 3k/4k graphics card.
i think if you don't mind keeping your
1) case
2) hard drive
3) monitor
4) keyboard
5) mouse

then you possibly could upgrade your desktop for under 200.

actually if you get a mobo with a decent gfx card built in (geforce 8k or 9k possibly) you could DEFINITELY get a decent computer for under 200!

whoops, i forgot to mention that you could probably get a cpu + mobo deal.

It seems that I'm off work for the next three days. Except for some time Wednesday morning and Thursday evening, I'm completely free to do whatever. I guess that means Melee for at least some of the time.

Kevin, I could hook you up with something that will last for about $500-$600, or we could go as ****ty as possible while actually working like Sleepy recommended.

That's pretty awesome.

Could you hydroplane into a jab or uptilt, end up behind them, and then maybe dtilt to shield poke more?
Yes, it's very possible. In fact, when the opponent tries to get close, it's among the best options, outside of a hydrograb.
