This works on several levels though. They don't have to be on you, you just need to hit them. Samus' first hit of the Screw Attack, as you all should know, sends your opponent straight up with a LOT of force. Every hit after the first is designed to stop momentum of anyone caught in it. However, pikmin are so light that they go flying very fast when hit, meaning they are only hit by the first hitbox. Unfortunately for Olimar this one hit isn't even enough to kill the white pikmin.
The result? pikmin fireworks. They go up real high, then before they get back to the ground they explode from separation anxiety. Plus they come in many pretty colors. ^_^
But yeah, I doubt Sauna thinks Samus has an advantage, just that he never proof-reads anything he writes. I'm pretty sure he meant that this is "an" advantage Samus has "against Olimar. Not that Samus has the advantage in the match-up. Olimar's speed and range of grabs can easily make up for anything Samus can do to him. Though maybe not this.
But here's a strat you Sami can use!
When you see that Olimar is desynched from his pikmin, do your best to land a Screw Attack on Olimar. You'll get any pikmin that are close to Olimar to go flying. There is a point in the Screw Attack where the hits no longer just stun but actually are meant to send the opponent away from Samus. Pikmin trying to catch up to Olimar will run into the screw attack and potentially go flying at this point too. Plus the kicker, the Screw Attack actually manages to desynch pikmin from Olimar on occasion.
Final thought worth mentioning. The aerial Screw Attack does not have the same upwards knockback as the ground based one. Keep this in mind as really sweet opportunities may pass you by.
EDIT: Video coming soon.
