4th - K.I.D.Goggles (Sonic/Lucario)

Snakeee came to my tournament and won it. I was the only one to beat him in a set the entire tournament. I won game one ZSS vs sonic. he CPd battlefield, I thought I would be able to better deal with the platforms with lucario, but he kinda wrecked my lucario. Then I CPd jungle japes because i thought i could mess with his side b and throw him off. It threw him off so hard that he picked mk, and I two stocked him with lucario. It was rapetastic. and it felt amazing.

then I had to play him in losers. once again I won game one, come back from a full stock down. I SDd at like 6 on my second stock. got him to his last stock while i was at like 110% and still came back and won. My gimps were the stuff of legends. He once again took me to battlefield and narrowly beat my sonic.
Than I CPd final D. I was hit vertically and trying to get back down, and some body hit the table that the tv that I was playing on was on. Now if youve ever seen the ripple effect when you let a drop of water go into a completely still body of water, thats what I saw in the TV when the table got hit.i really thought the tv got like 3d for a second, which screwed my spacing and let snakeee, up air me for the kill.

I had to pause the game because my eyes were flipping out from it. Everyone that was watching the match said that I played pretty terrible from then on, and I ended up losing the second set with him. winning that set would have put me in 3rd place, and would have made me some money... I hate how close I get while still having nothing to show for it. at the very least, the set that I lost to him in got recorded...

whoever he is

:093:
I see whut you did there. <3 fizzie and X

But really, i need to be more consistent and surpass this barrier MD/VA has up around Sonic @_@
Its ridiculous with them, seriously. I need to stop running to Kirby bairs (KID says so), and...i dont know. do SOMETHING. And get OoS more.

Going to a bi-weekly side tourney of Joker's in Iowa tomorrow. Probably gonna be a small tourney but driving none-the-less, wish me luck.

I'm back from HOBO21. Not many showed up, but the skill level overall was ****ing amazing.

Probably the most fun I've had since Final Smash 5. I had to play Tree (Sheik) in the first round, then went up against FK (Zero Suit Samus).

I was scared ****-less about playing versus any Zero Suit Samus players, since the only time I ever played the match was against another ZSS months ago, and got wrecked in friendlies. Snakeeee, Shlike, and FK were all present. I kept praying not to go against them.

Luckily FK had no Sonic experience, so we were both going into the match unaware of each other. First match was pretty tight, but I pulled off a win. He CP'd to Halberd, and I net two gimps early on, and the game was mine.

Then I had to play against ****ing Razer.

I will say this, and only once: Camping. ****ing. Works.

They were recorded too. They aren't going to be flashy, and they aren't going to be full of Sonic gimmicks. Just spins, spins, and more spins, with a bunch of running away and camping to top it all off. Having said that, the matches were incredible and extremely close.

After that, I play against Fliphop (Diddy), and do okay in the first match, but I eventually lose that game. I countered to Jungle Japes, and camped the heck out of him by looping the level and spin charging toward the center. I win that game. We go to Pokemon Stadium 1, and it plays out more or less the same, but eventually I lost my patience after Flip sneaked in several consecutive hits, and lost the match by one stock.

After that, I played against Trela (Lucario). He just outplayed me. I made a bunch of major errors in my game, but what was so frustrating was KOing him. In the games we played, he never died before 150%, and that alone is problem enough. Both times I lost it went down to the last stocks.

Lucario HAS to be 65:35. 6:4 is bull****; Lucario has so many ways to stop a Sonic from doing anything.

I did pretty icky in Regular 2v2, and decided to split 1st and 2nd with Xyro and Lee in Low Tier Doubles because of time issues. Phantom X's Ganondorf is way too good.

Overall, I'm pleased with my performance this weekend. I did great in singles and low tier, and it was a great learning experience with Sonic overall.

PS: Sonic is STILL low tier/bottom mid tier. Thinking otherwise is just foolish.

Supposedly there were videos recorded of my Sonic vs. Razer's Snake, and vs. Trela's Lucario, so you get to see my campiness and my idiocy in one go.

PSS: Oh, and I got two Homing Attack KOs in tournament. It's legit.

Yay.

Lee Martin (I think the best Lucario in the nation) was in my pools at NOKOASTv2. Honest to god, once I got him to 100% and he had Aura, I could not do jack to him. Plus I actually have to pay attention against people who don't take brawl seriously that play Lucario. I miss Mewtwo..

Anywho, got back from the small local tourney in Iowa yesterday. My friend and I were the only ones that showed up OoS and the Singles had 12 entrants. At the last minute they decided NOT to have an entry fee so it's nothing official, but I ended up getting 3rd out of 12. Lost to Joker (Snake) and then a GDubbs, who I tried timing out on Pictochat in which he turned the tides with 20 seconds left and ended up getting 4% under me, and then just planked 'till it timed. ****.

December 13th, 2009
out of 9:
3rd - Kinzer (Sonic)
7th - Tails (Sonic)

I can't speak for Tails' perspective of this tournament. Although he will attest for me when I say that he hasn't been to a tournament in two months, so he probably wouldn't done as good as he wanted to. I know he has what it takes, but he still has a lot of things to work out, and just needs to get a bit more active in the scene to start placing in the same place I do, and then some. I'm not trying to john for him, but there's always next time, right? Regardless, I'll train him...

Let's see. How did I do?

I did great. I think I did anyway, considering I had sandbagged to my 9th place in the normal bracket. I got my entry fee back for getting third in amateur, and I could've tried to play against Hino 2nd time around, but it was already time for me to leave. I think I'm getting a little bit better in the Falco matchup. I need to find a way to play on Japes, if Espy can beat Falcos on Japes, I should be able to work for the same result too. Hino got better himself actually, I used to be able to beat him, but he's gotten better and adapted... well, it's time I caught up, and take first place, I play the fastest thing alive afterall.

Doubles results aren't counted here... oh boy, good thing they aren't. Me and Tails didn't do so hot this time around. B'ah @#$% it, either we both need to better, or find other partners, because a double Sonic team is just so silly... but it's sooooo fun too! :<

Uhm... Trendsetter... Yeah, don't ask me why, but he demanded that I play a Ganon ditto with him in-tourney... I don't know why I agreed, but I did. Of course I lost, because he plays Ganon (and had the Billy Mays texture hack... teeheehehaha). Next time though, I promise I can defeat him if I just hold true to my oath of going all Sonic. I know I have it in me to defeat his Meta Knight, if I just didn't get predictable at the end. I had the lead the entire time until we got on the last stock. People counter pick with top/high tiers, I counterpick with Ganondorf. XD Not exactly proud of that, but whatever. I can do this.

I don't remember/know who I had beat after that. Either newbies, people from OoS (who aren't that great), or just randoms... or something. They probably didn't put up anything of a fight except for one of them who used Meta Knight and got his butt handed to him. If either of them are reading this, they're going to not want to blame me, but themselves for not being good enough to beat me/a Sonic.

Then Omega... I'm not sure if any of you from the Midwest heard of him, but now I guess he lives in Vegas and is a part of this scene... A fine addition indeed, nobody but Dannykat; who is retired, plays Marth, and I need any conditioning I can get. I lost, but both games where close. First match was down to the last hit.

Amateurs Bracket is kind of pathetic too, witht he exception of our very own TO, Vicko, and his lovely GF Teresa.

My C-Stick wasn't working first match, so all attempts at Spinshot were null. I lost. :( Take away Sonic's metagame away from him and suddenly he can't compete. I was able to win in the end though, that's all that matters.

Then Teresa has to go Jiggly on me (and on Japes) and beat me one match. Braaaaaaah, Kirby < Jigglypuff now by Inui logic.

Then yeah, as I said before, lost to Hino. Grah, I need to get some more tourney matches uploaded dammit. I alone cannot find my own faults, and Tails is unfortunately not able to help me beyond motivational support at the moment. If anything will help me get better, is being able to review my matches and if me, other people can dissect the videos and point out to me what I'm doing wrong. My problem must be I choke when it's getting close and end up losing because I panic and do desperation attempts which majority of the time fail.

I won't give up! I just hope Tails doesn't...

Bolded, added effects to the things i feel strongly on. But really though, nice job man. Keep it up.

@Kinzer
duu, keep at it! just keep on practicing when you get the chance to, and break the top 3! Also, why did you do that Ganon ditto again?

@_X_
you gonna take top 3, so im not worried at all. good luck!

Don't worry Kinzer. I promise I won't give up at all.

This is my first tournament since Kinzer's tournament back in October so I haven't been too active so my performance wasn't at my best.

I'll just start with doubles. I kinda have to blame myself for messing up. I lost track where I went and I kept attacking Kinzer multiple times which one of them I accidentally Sonic Punched him to his death. If I didn't kill him, we probably could of had a chance to win that set between FireBullet and Hino. I guess I panic too much. Hopefully next time we got this. Sometimes I do think it's my doubles skills which is costing us.

For the regular singles, first I had to play against GreddyBreeze and his Pikachu. His Pikachu was kinda easy to beat. So I really didn't have too much of a problem, compare to Z's Pikachu.

My second match, I had to play against Xero which he plays Olimar. I have zero experience in that type of match up since he's pretty much the only person who plays him in Vegas. I was lucky to get 1 stock off of him in both matches. It also didn't help for Vic to put me down at the start of the match.

My final match was against Vic. I lost to him in Battlefield since I think I committed suicide again on one of my stocks. I counter picked Smashville and barely won against that one with his Snake. The he CP Game & Watch on me and went to Rainbow Cruise. Since I don't have too much experience on that stage or playing his Game & Watch, I lost to him

In Amateur my first match I won against I won against Andreas' Snake. I tried to grab released him on his last stock (which I really have a hard time with that), but some how when he was recovering under the stage of Battlefield, I got hit by his parachute which it disappeared and killing Snake.

The following match I played against Hino and his Falco. I really hate all the Fox characters. I kept getting chain grab. If I didn't kill myself in both matches, I could have won that set, but when I found out who Hino was going to play next, I would of been even more scared.

I had to play against Vic again in my final match. He started with G&W. If he didn't up B under Final Destination when he was planking, I probably would had lost in a 0-2 compare to a 1-2. He was about to go to Rainbow Cruise but I banned it since I don't want to do a repeat so he picked Delifino Plaza with Snake. Even though I would never use Toon Link in tournament since he is not ready and my constant habit of Dairing myself to death, I kept thinking when I was going home, I should of went Toon Link instead of Sonic for that match since I can dair spike Snake in the water. But I just stuck with Sonic and died with an utilt. I counter picked Smashville again and I'm regretting it. Even though Kinzer said I had the lead, but I got too greedy and impatient to get the match over with and being a hot headed with Vic from earlier, I got killed by an utilt.

Kinzer been helping me out a lot by pointing out what things I did wrong in pretty much every match that he had the chance to watch. Also my rolling habit finally bit me in the rear. I've been practicing with a no-shield control scheme to help me with my rolling habit and learn how to play a bit more offensively. Hopefully I'll get a bit better and understand more match ups and actually start helping him out as well.

BTW Kinzer, I though there was 9 entries for the Amateur bracket.

Ah yes.

There were only 9 entrants.

I just C&P'd from the regular bracket, I didn't feel like typing all of that and then some. I'll fix it now.

Also I'll never be able to give any of you a clear answer as to why I went Ganon other than me not inheriting my Ike skills and giving sympathy. Next time though I won't do that again.

also, if I come to WHOBO, i need to MM you
Low tiers keep getting the ****. What the hell's wrong with the EC? I remember Inui saying how the EC was all into low tiers and whatnot.

What's the problem here?

Low tier tournaments are way more fun to watch/play in, anyways.

1. Inui does not speak for the EC

2. EC loves low tiers, low tier DOUBLES, are over the line tho...

3. mid tiers are the most fun tier tho.

Lost to Joker (Snake that got 1st) in winner's semi-finals, then made it to the loser's finals and lost to CBK (Pikachu that got 2nd.) Was a pretty fun tourney even though it was small, was one spot away from making money 'Doh. Woulda made like, $2.29!

Hey da kid. Tons of warning this time.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=9134615#post9134615

I'm hoping to set a stupid high record for attendance this time. I think the timing for this tournament is perfect. Please please please try to attend, there aren't nearly enough sonic mains goin to this.

Also, Shugo and I plan on winning king yoshi's tournament this weekend. So results are gonna be

1: Shugo (Falco & Sonic)
1: ITT (Sonic only)
3-the rest: Everyone else.

Also took 4 stocks in Draft Crews, against two of Alberta's best players, Arsenal (Zelda) & KillL0ck (Marth) (videos to come up later). My matches in the brackets for Singles will go up soon, but I'm not ashamed to admit that in bracket, KillL0ck beasted me to send me into Losers. I didn't underestimate Marth, but now I've come to realize just how much he sandbags in friendlies. He is on Isai's level of sandbagging, it's scary playing him now as he fights in tournaments (he is, by far, Canada's best Marth player). If I can space out and not think of anything else, however, I know I can beat him. For the most part, however, I did lose to people I should have. In Loser's I faced Frio (former Power Ranker, he'd be 4th/5th on it or something were it not for the fact he doesn't approve of the Power Ranking and requested being taken off)

I have to learn to fight Pikachu, I'm inexperienced in the match up. I was re-learning it partway through, however.

I could have beaten Frio, but I caught onto his antics too late. No johns. I should have gotten 7th. Oh well. There's gonna be some vids soon from Singles and Crews, and my DI in Crews has got Winning Steak all over it. Shame that Lylat Cruise ****ed me over when I was ledgehop Spin Charging back, since it tilted as I was doing it and I hit my head beneath the stage, otherwise I could have had my shot at taking KillL0ck's 3rd stock.

Oh, and last monthly in November, I got 7th going all Sonic. Sorry that I didn't do the formatting right. I'll get right on that.

My performance this December, despite the higher placing in November, was far more impressive.

Y'know, I just realized. In my region I have NEVER placed outside of the Top 10. Ever since March 2008. EVER. WOOHOO!
