Just... don't have two MD/VA tournies weekend after weekend. It's annoying to those who have lives outside of smash (jobs, school, girlfriends, etc.) ~PS~ doesn't count. He's just weird.
LOL and PS does have a girlfriend at the moment.

noid comes in w/ the logic.

i third the two-a-month thing

or three a month on months w/ five saturdays.

i think that happens lol.

and i can make it to combo knight's castle, hat's and gaithersburg no problem.

then comes hagerstown which is a litte hassle.

everything else is too far. T__T

oh and the pound 4 venue is easy mode too, but that's rarely used.

actually, everywhere i can make it is rarely used, besides like gaming zone and hagerstown :(

needs moar diversity in locations.

I was merely preparing for his potential argument. He normally tells me he has all his other affairs in order and saves his weekends for smash. "No Johns."

I'm sorry, but I can't push my girl around and I'm taken for certain weekends. No johns for him, but it could be no *** for me. You understand.

G-reg:

Do special brawl, stamina (set to 1%, poison flower on).

Keep starting matches and they will instantaneously end. Thats the best advice i got for ya.

BTW, tant i love the ideas in this thread, good stuff.

Tantalus-

I will give an arm and a leg to help you achieve these things for tournaments is MD/VA.

After weaving in and out of the scene for the past 3 years, and attending a half dozen events along the way, I can definitely say your suggestions would make a world of difference,

As we speak, I'm looking for a venue near UMD for team and crew specific tournaments.

Thanks for getting this out there.

I dunno about top 5 but I have always been a fan of top 4. It is just sometimes we don't quite have the attendance to give 4th place an amount worth having.

Baltimore venue's and ours would probably be the best for tournaments hoping to get Oos. I am trying to coordinate things with PA.

I made the East Coast tournament finder as a way for each region to coordinate with each other on events. If there was a way to get more TO participation in it might be more useful.

My main goal is to try to grow the local tournament community. I think that should be a goal of each of the TO's in the region. I have started a gaming club at the community college and I have been holding regular free tournaments. From what I have found most times people don't mind paying a small amount for a tournament. The main problem as of now, is that the local players are unreliable. I practically have to remind them all of the time. We will see on the 27th if I am successful or not.

I am all for running "side" events. I really enjoy competitive gaming and would love to see the other communities compete. I have plans for Halo, TvC, Blazblue, madden, street fighter, guitar hero, and MW2 tournaments. Not too mention if they get to see how brawl works they may crossover as well.

Good folks, i'm glad most of you agree with me

Now we actually need to take action on these things. I've posted my standards, now I want to see you all take the same ideal into your own hands.

I agree with the thoughts, venue fee was an issue for me as well. Wish there'd be closer tournaments or smashfests around the Laurel area too - we got a lot of players from around that area and its less driving for us >_>

the most consistent tournys around here seem to be mostly c3 or hagers tournys and nothing really in between, other than sassys (mostly smashfests)

yeah
