Melee is too fun.

I fully support Melee tournies at gigs. But this should just be a test tourney cause I'm sure everyone will feel bad for gigs if only 20 people enter when they could have had another 100 person brawl tourney.

I dont think havin this on the 19th is a good idea

Fast will be happening on that day and it will be melee as well (could be changed)
Its good to have a melee tourney on the same month fast is on since everyone will go to it for their brawl fix
but it cant be on the same weekend.

How about the week after?

Weren't there two melee tvs at the tourney? I think there were cause I couldn't play in the scary corner so I played on the hip little tv, it was fun. Oh and why does it say there are 4 tournies that day? could you elaborate?

Honestly, we're not entirely sure that FAST is going to happen.

As a tournament host myself, here's the line of thinking.
  • June: Georgia's best Melee tournament since Brawl. This eliminates any large FL Melee tournament for June, as SFLians heading north for Atlanta would hardly want head north again in a few weeks.
  • July: FAST--maybe. Probably not, at this point. If fast happens it definitely does the same thing as the GA tourney in June. Not that I don't think FAST can't happen and the people involved aren't working hard for it, but if they haven't had success yet, (and as long as we're being honest) there's little chance FAST is going to happen. Knowing this, it makes perfect sense for gigabits to schedule a tournament on this date. Honestly, FAST is a frustrating topic for any Florida host, because it probably wont happen but still must be scheduled around in theory. So good for Gigabits to ignoring some imprecise planning, and also impressive that they would take this risk of this as well.
  • August: Awfully late to be thinking about at this point.
Now I myself had been telling Darrel to let me know what was up with FAST so if it failed to happen in July I could replace it with an LTEC. However with this gigabits, Florida has a guaranteed July Melee tournament.

Again if we're being frank, FAST will probably happen in August if it happens at all, so I'm not sure when or if an LTEC will happen this summer.

Don't be so quick to make judgments. Most likely, FAST will be happening in July...I don't see why you say it probably won't.

Who said anything about quick judgments? "FAST (in planning stages)" has been around for almost a month now. I typically make rather logical decisions when I've observed something for a month.

And I say it probably wont because I've actually put together tournaments before, generally having the venue before announcing the date is the way to go. Not being able to find a venue after a month is also generally not very promising. That's my logic at least.

Not that I'm not at least a little hopeful (FAST would be sweet), but I'm also trying to be realistic. Good luck with the search anyways.

Um...we have venues...I've stated that a couple times. We're just solidifying everything before we give a definite so people don't get tickets and get screwed.

Also, we had a venue lined up originally...as has also been stated. You are making the judgment that FAST will not be held in July, and that is based on false information.

What is this fast thing btw, everyone's making a big to do out of it.
Um, look at the sticky at the top of the boards...>.<

Speaking of which, yea things seem unlikely right now, but people need to have faith, it will happen no matter what, if the date gets changed to august, then gigs is fine, but otherwise FAST will continue as planned. We need support now, not pessimism, and we just want everyone to be patient.
