Oh, and about seeding: Yes, it is crucial. Very.
When we were organizing our first local with Challonge, the first time, literally every single one of our good players was up against another good player, and that would mean a lot of big matches that definitely weren't fit for Round freaking 1 would be taking place early, and that would also mean some players basically would have to start on Losers. We had to come up with some seeds to atleast kind of balance that.

Kinda sad about how Craftis got the shaft bc he uses a Pro Controller and apparently they aren't allowed for Big House. I understand why they ban it, cuz low/mid level players tend to always forget them synced when they leave, but if the player is pretty known in their region and they go to tournaments often, they already know they should be held accountable and take the proper previsions to prevent stuff like that.

A player shouldn't be at fault for what type of controller they use

Fairly quiet tournament so far.

EDIT: Did every good peach in attendance make Round 2 winners side?

Dath's not out, yeah? I really wanna see that dude shine again. But Kogarasuma is above him, for me, don't tell 'em that -3-
He (Dath) kinda became one of my favourite players after that display. Woah.
Also, did anyone actually comment about Ally's win over victory in Crews? That was incredible. He carried that match right outta hell.

---

Well, just as another example to talk about importance of seeding: in that very same tournament I described earlier, before we did the seeds, we had all 4 out of 5 of our best players meeting up in the first round, and that created a few problems other than just "having the best matches too early".
The biggest problem it kinda generated was that due to the layout the bracket ended up having, one of our best players was guaranteed to be 0-2'd out, while it was also guaranteed one of our unskilled randoms would end up in Winners Semis.
Two of the good players were guaranteed to lose from the start, and due to their position in the bracket, the two losers would meet up at LBR1, and thus someone good would have to be 0-2'd instantly. Meanwhile, the other side of the bracket was filled with people that didn't even play the game all that well, and even though they lacked skill, they would never meet any real opposition up until Winners Semis. That was unacceptable. We had to redo everything and we made one bracket that was slightly less crap, and with proper seeding.

Can't make exceptions. Looks bad. High/Top level players can forget as well, particularly if they get salty over a match and leave in a fit.

Gotta know the possibilities when you pick your controller type. If you can be forced not to use it, don't pick that controller.

Are we really going to throw non-GC controllers to the dumpster like we did with the Miis?
Wireless problems are wireless problems. Can't really get around the fact that they ain't an option for massive tournaments.

Wireless GC controllers got the same treatment back in Brawl.

By my standards, not a single uncommon character breaking out at this tournament asides from King James and DDD. He is going up against one of the best, Dabuz though so the dream may die out quick.(unless someone whips out a low tier counterpick that's all well see from them)..bit of a shame viewing wise, there is always usually one underdog participating too. This may be the most expected tournament so far in terms of any upsets happening too. Very standard.

Ahh well. I predict Anti or Ally is going to win this whole thing btw. Actually,

1st: Anti :4mario::substitute:
2nd: Ally :4mario:
3rd: Zero :4diddy::4sheik::4shulk:(JOKING)
4th: Dabuz:rosalina:
5th: Abadango:4mewtwo::4metaknight:
6th: Larry Lurr :4fox:
7th: Salem:4bayonetta2:
8th: Void:4sheik:

Other close placing: Kamemushi :4megaman:, Ned :4cloud2: Nairo :4zss:

There. I win premium if my predictions are correct now k? (Joking, I gave my premium away last time I won it on here)

Actually Vivid beat Black Twins. Arc beat Dath, not sure if he's in winners.

Good lord, y'all better rewind and see 6wx and seagull joe get taken out in doubles by an insanely synergistic charizard/Mario team. Charizard may end up a counter pick character, but I can see a future in doubles, especially when his pretty great neutral and advantage tools can shine and his booty landing options are covered by a quicker teammate.

Here's a possibly better matchup chart for Peach. Little Mac is still her best matchup, it seems.
downloadfile-1.png

She doesn't seem to struggle with some top tiers. Heck. She even bodies the high tiers. The first one I posted seemed wrong to me when Yoshi was considered even for Peach. But I like this one. Please share your thoughts. How would Peach rise in the meta now?

That team would be Linus and Hawk, a twin brother team from Michigan that mostly only played doubles until recently. They've always been known for landing ridiculous team combos and maining roughly half the cast each. Good to see them on the big stage. Edit: mostly only played doubles. Don't get misconceptions

It's still dumb for Pro Controllers. I use a Pro Controller with no battery. Zero desyncing problems, because you just unplug the controller. Is that not allowed, even?

Those wily twins and their mind reading...

Anyway, looking forward to watching the two. Charizard's such a dynamic heavyweight.

Greninja beats Peach solidly. She has poor mobility in comparison, and has really rough time with shurikens as well. Greninja really rips her a new one in advantage state, her frame is perfect for Greninja combos.

That list is a little on the conservative side if you ask me.

People like to talk about Bayo/Ganon or Rosa/Ganon being the most one-sided matchup in the game but it might be Pac/Mac. It's that bad.

shogun was an even weaker link than i expected

Midwest is in a pretty good position in crews at the moment. The good news for Japan is that nobody on the midwest team is quite as explosive as ANTi can be.

Shogun seemed like he was on autopilot Fox for most of that exchange. Like, why so many FH dairs when cloud loves getting into an air game? Ned is super solid tho, and played well, so no shade to him.

Big house banned Pro Controllers without batteries (i.e., only wired) and 3DS controllers (which can't turn a game off).

EVO ran a 5000 person Street Fighter Bracket w/ wireless controllers only and no issues. We are years away from a 3000 person smash event, and years away from an event with 100 wireless controllers.

Kie has been the straight-up MVP. Shogun and Aba turned out terrible performances in crews.

Kinda surprised that Kie's doing this well after all his bad placements in the Summer but it's certainly something. He ran through Marss and most of Tweek's stocks and beat Ally head-to-head.

Maaaan, Kie and Ally was just delightful amounts of yomi. From ally literally running around Kies shield, to Kie strategically turning on Peach movement and set ups, I wouldn't mind seeing a full set between these two.

Rayquaza sweatin bullets over taking one stock off of Kie speaks volumes.

Edit: okay for good reason. Go figure peach edge guards Rosa like a savage
