for recent, airing anime (like the aforementioned sword art online) there are aggregator sites like animetake and animesenshi, if you don't want to bother with specific subtitling groups

for most other shows (anything not currently airing, basically) there are private trackers which i think a few people on here use

i don't actually remember where i downloaded galactic heroes from :\...your best bet is to find a private tracker (animebyt.es? i dont know if you need an invite to get in or something) or just traw sites like tokyotosho.info until you find one with a couple of seeds - anime is still reasonably non-mainstream so something like 8 seeds is already pretty great

for future subgroup reference, check myanimelist.com's anime profiles, they will list the groups that subbed the show in english so you don't get mixed up like that again
