well you cant expect much to "happen" from an anime that was based off a 4 koma.
tbh the anime adaptation of lucky star was done quite well compared to other 4 komas->anime

EDIT: I should probably clarify. 'Cute girls doing cute things' is fine if there's actually stuff happening in my view. Otherwise I probably wouldn't watch Index or The World God Only Knows. But nothing ever happens in Lucky Star. I just can't see the point of watching nothing. Same thing with K-On!.

Ika Musume is a regular manga, not a 4koma. I think you can even buy it on JList.
