Hola gente, hace tiempo no paso por aki. Well I'm posting because uriel told me yesterday bout the tourny and I was supposed to tell him if I was going yesterday. I definitely can't go to the tourny. Like I said to uriel, I'll be staying in cabo rojo for the week, but coming back to bayamon on friday. Uriel I'd consider OC2 if I were a better player, but I'm still lacking. Need more expirience.
I'd gain it there yes, but I'd rather wait and go to a tournament where I know I'll kick ***,lol.

Today I went to Nelson's (remember him from the Isabela Tourney Uriel? the Doc Mario?)
House to tell him if we could practice for the Mayaguez tourney at his crib tomorrow. He said yes and then suddenly told me if we could go smash with some locals in Cuchillas,Moca,P.R. and I said sure, and then I picked up Moca and Bam we went over there.
I met Narutards!, Halo Players, Yugioh Card Game Players, all sorts of weird people over there but there was good Smashing there, so good that my Directional stick that doesn't have the lil plastic cover gave me a wound, splitting my thumb open at one part, I didn't bleed but I definitely can't play with that controller anymore,lol.
I went to Aguadilla Mall a month ago and there weren't any controllers anywhere there (Kmart,Kaybee,Gamestop) so it sucks. I wonder where I'll find a good controller
(Moca's gonna lend me one of his for the tourney but I want one of my own >< )

That’s why you guys aren’t getting better (exceptions). You make excuses as to why you can’t go to a tournament, someone’s house, or wherever. You take articles and advice on Smash, competition, etc., for granted. And when told that making a private Smash forum just for the PR community was a good idea, I go ahead and do it, then no one takes advantage. You guys are being lazy and making no real effort to do anything about it. Mayagüez is not too far. PR is a small-*** island. People in the states travel (in car) 5-7 hours to get to a tournament, and gas is more expensive over there. They make arrangements, give each other rides, chip in to make gas/tolls cheaper, and overall make the effort. You guys would pass up a tournament for a dumb excuse like “oh I can’t, I need to bathe my pet rock that day!” And from what I’ve seen, this applies to more than just Smash. Carlos even offered a ride to people, and yet again people prove their incompetence by not accepting and making excuses instead.

Sadly I have to agree with HDL on this one. People are not putting enough effort into gaming, and are taking competitive gaming for granted. Most of them just get absorbed becuase they are beating their neighboors and cousins just to face the reality when they go to a tournament. Then make up excuses so they don't have to face the facts that you haven't gotten any better. Going to the All Starts tournament got me grounded for the whole summer, I've only been allowed to use my car for errands, and once in my B-day for fun, in fact I don't care cuase the tournament was worth it. Yeah Mayaguez has been slacking off, some of us kept working, but you take in mind that most people from the GG have graduated, gone to other universities or suspended. Is funny cause that how El mono and me came up with the idea of a website, since the GG was centralized in Mayaguez. The good thing is since now we are more dispersed, maybe the comunity can grow more. Summer is a slow time so lets wait up till the new semester starts.

Rasalas took the words out of my mouth, also, I'm on NewYork, unless you want to come pick me up here too. HDL, don't take this as an offense, we aren't obligated to come to tourneys or anything, now, I know some offered rides, but not every parent would let their sons or daughters go with what they think are complete strangers to some other town without knowing who will take them. When the All-Star tourney, dad wasn't going to take me, since he didn't knew any of the organizers or anything, but he took me after a while of explaining, and just because you're winning tournaments doesn't mean everyone here is a "scrub" as you call them. Think about the different lifestyles before posting next time.

Also if your parents dont know who you are with. Simply invite your friend home for dinner and so that you parent meet him.

But its a fact PR's people are lazies and prefer being home than trying to reach what they want. It's a pity, but truth is truth.

¿Tu crees que eso es asi de facil? Entonces ven a casa de los que no nos dejan ir y pide permiso por nosotros. Si a mi ya me dijeron que no, es no y punto. Ustedes no nos pueden obligar a ir tampoco, y esto lo digo por que de la manera que ustedes se expresan parece un intento de manipulacion, una burla, como si nos quisieran obligar y "si no vamos los odiaremos por siempre". Yo puedo tratar de pedir permiso 1, 2, hasta 3 veces, pero cuando veo que ya me lo dicen en serio dejo de preguntar, ¿por que? Si te pichean pa jugar smash uno de los dos es un scrub, o tu y no quieren jugar contigo para perder el tiempo, o el otro que no quiere pasar la verguenza de cojer la pela y no hace un carajo para mejorar. Cuando yo no quiero jugar smash solo tengo que decir "NO" y si no les gusta se van pa buen sitio, pero no pongo excusas de que tengo que estudiar o a mi perro le dio Sida.

People are not obligated to go to tournaments, but you know who tournaments are for? Competitive players. The competitive Smash community goes to these tournaments. Those interested in playing Smash competitively usually go to them, and if they’re not able to they at least made the effort in some way. They at least put effort into their training. Going by what you guys have told me in IMs and in person, you seem to want to play competitively and improve. Well, that’s what you say, but everything else says otherwise, so it’s very misleading. If you wanted to simply be part of the community and play for fun, then I wouldn’t have anyone asking me questions about how to do something or whatever else it may be. If you want to improve at anything, then you have to put the effort into it. Middle ground is not a goal. Also I have seen the improvement people make when they put the effort, and I can tell many of you are not trying enough if at all. You’re not required to put this effort, it’s all on you, but if you really don’t then there’s no point in saying that you want to get better because it won’t happen. This matters to the people that try/tried to help you, because then they feel like their help was for naught.

By the way, I don’t have a job. And about the money won from past tournaments? Well let me assure you that I do not have any type of super awesome home theater with a giant IMAX screen. Most of the winnings I couldn’t even use for my own personal wants.

Vain don’t worry. The people on that list are those that can hang out and generally have a good time, regardless of Smash. And there will also be Mugen!

Yo no le tengo odio a nadie. No piensen eso por favor. Es mas, pal' proximo torneo, voy a hablar de antemano, pa' ver si si puedo lograr ir. Yo de verdad que quiero jugar Smash competitivamente, aunque no vaya pa' los tournies, siempre trato de encontrar la manera de llegar a los smashfests, donde se que puedo llegar easy es a casa de Yuca y a mis best friends que son j0Qr y Wandering Angel y porque no se donde vive Zyko si no me pasaba alli. Pregunten por ahi si H@wK hace o no gestiones pa' encontrarse con la gente por ahi.

No hay que usar la palabra scrub aqui. Nadie de la gente de por aca le ha faltado el respeto a alguien que yo sepa. Si me pichean pa' jugar, pues que puedo hacer? Se pierden de un buen rato de juego competitivamente y por diversion. No se si fui yo el que pone excusa de estudiar porque en mi post anterior yo estaba hablando de momentos futuros, cuando entre a universidad. El que piense que va a perder tiempo conmigo pues que se chave por que yo se que he mejorado demasiado y estoy aplicando todas las tecnicas que me han enseñado en especial Mind-Games.

Asi que, estoy poniendo esfuerzo y tiempo en mejorar mis skills como Smasher para que ustedes se diviertan en los torneos. Dame un tiempito, me veras en los torneos y cooperando en ellos, quien sabe si llegando lejos en ellos. Total, necesito mas experiencia de torneo.

Miren yo no se porque piensan que estoy dando excusas pero no es asi, en verdad que si no quiero ir yo lo digo y ya no hay problemas. Y pa que diablo querian que les avisaran los que iban o no, pa que empesaran a tratar de joderlos diciendo que todo lo que dicen son excusas y embustes? Pfft.

Si ustedes les interesa tanto mis razones pues aqui estan. Solo puse que era muy lejos y se acaba muy tarde como un resumen pero lo voy a poner to a ver si se acaba esta estupides.

1. No tengo pon. Carlos ofrecio pon a la gente pero esa gente necesitaban llegar a la casa de el. Y yo no tengo pon ni siquiera para ir a casa de Carlos. No tengo carro ni licensia de conducir.

2. No soy mayor de edad. Le pedi permiso a mi madre sobre ir al torneo y no le agrado mucho (porque cada vez que voy a un torneo es mas lejos y mas lejos y a ella eso le incomoda porque no conoce a nadie de ustedes). Y como no tengo celular pues ella no quiere que me vaya tan lejos.

3. Tengo una dieta estricta porque estoy enfermo, tengo un riñon malo y no puedo estar comiendo hotdogs ni pizza como los demas. En el ultimo torneo en casa de carlos no pude comer nada de lo que habia alli y yo no voy a estar desde las 10 de la manana como hasta las 10 de la noche sin comer.

4. Estoy corto de dinero. Mi familia no es la mas rica del mundo y no me van a dar dinero para torneos porque nisiquiera hay para las cosas de la escuela.

Bueno ya les presente todas las excusas posibles (si dije excusas antes que usteden lo hagan, asi se evitan posts innecesarios).

To all those who cannot go because of difficulties: If you really try you can achieve anything. Those who don't get what they really desire didn't try at all, are lazy, it's extremely hard( life or death situation), or they don't really care much.

I've been in a lot of trouble for attending some tournaments.Troubles with grades, social life, my parents, and with my own future. But I am really interested in competitive gaming so I do everything in my power to assists those tournaments. Not only thinking on myself but on the organizers who took time to make the tournament happen for the community; for it's growth. But those desicions I made and it's consequences are my problems. I just wanted to let you guys know that. The OC2 thing was a miracle I made happen.My father said no 1,000,000 times until I tried my hardest and finally convinced him. I say it's a miracle because once my father says something it's final.

After what I've been through I only accept health excuses. I've also had to pay myself for the tournaments I have attended except for OC2 which was my graduation gift. This money comes from saved money from my birthdays and work.

P.S. If there is a will there is a way. No johns lol

u cant expect everyone to attend to all tourneys, and if i cant go, sad for me, if you guys are the ones who benefit if some ppl go and dont, then ur wrong, u cant make ppl go to the tourneys and thats our problem, not urs, and anyways, video games are not my life, i cant put personal affairs to a side and go play videogames, mabye you'll call me scrub for what i said, cuz scrub is the word of the year now, but i dont care, some ppl have an opinion, some ppl have other, and both have to respect that, so, u cant try to change minds just because u want them to play competitive, and no one has the right to call other ppl scrub. and if someone dont wanna go, then leave them be, its their problem, some ppl wanna go but dont have same priviledges as others that can go. and if you put games in first place, you will go bad in live, i have made sacrifices for games, but dang...going too far is just going to screw up my life.

I'm not expecting everyone to attend to all the tournies. I'm not making you go to the tournament either. I just said that don't use excuses for not going. It's a bad habit to give excuses. My life ain't videogames either you know? I live a pretty balanced life I work, I have a social life, I help my parents, I study hard. What I mentioned earlier was that for some tournaments it caused me trouble momentarily but my life didn't become a wreck because I tried a little harder. I still was able to make it to the tournaments and have a balanced life. I haven't called you scrub either. I thought you wanted to play competitive but it seems I was wrong. You fight for your privilages or you win them. If I let myself be controled by my parents I would be miserable. We can come to some deal of some sort. And also you buid trust with your parents and if your are responsible and respect your parents I don't see why they should not help you in YOUR interests in my case Melee. You don't have to put games into first place to become a good player. I'm a good example. You put your own limits in life I try to not limit myself and try to find a way to achieve my goals.

Some of you seem to be misunderstanding what the word scrub really means. It’s by no means an insult. Please do not comment further on this without knowing what it is.

And what, you guys think I play Smash 24/7? For the record I just played Smash yesterday for less than an hour after more than a week. My cube even had trouble loading it because it hadn’t done so in a while. When the semester is in, people in RUM play more than I do. You don’t need to play all the time to get good and put the effort, just enough. Please do not insert excuses on how you “have a life,” because you are insinuating that those who play serious do not.

And Moldredd is right about the parents bit. If they automatically deny you without even considering it (except drastic requests), then it means you must not be doing enough to gain their trust. I also have a very strict mother so I can say personally that if you show them you’re responsible, they will at least consider your request openly. Being a minor doesn’t cut it, because even if you’re 16 or 17 you should still be showing or starting to show that you can live up to the task.
