Microsoft isn't out to buy tons of other companies like Disney is also Microsoft is no longer a rival to Nintendo since the two companies are now friends.

Did you even read my reply? I'm saying Disney owning him doesn't change that Sora is a video game character as he was designed for and debuted in a video game.
Also, nice to see that you conveniently ignored my point about how Disney is working with Square Enix for at least 18 years now and has yet to buy them.

OK, so you are opposed to Sony getting in Smash because of a so-called "rivalry" that's been dead since the mid-00s - but you constantly ****post about how happy you are Banjo, a Microsoft character, got in Smash?

so another Sora hater who is salty about him being 1 of the most wanted?
all of a sudden people post negative things about Sora now that hes very popular, i find it silly but funny at the same time!
didn't your favorite character made it in the most wanted list? cause that would explain the behavior.

Everyone here is saying what I would’ve said, so…yeah.

No company is officially barred from getting into Smash, they just choose whether or not they want their characters in there, that is all. At most only pure licensed properties are restricted, but only for convenience's sake.

Just because Sora is popular doesn't mean I have to like him.

Then just say you don't like him. Resorting to irrational fear mongering and gate-keeping his fans is uncalled for.

Like it or not, Sora haters are allowed to say any negative things they want about him. I loathe it when someone hates on Banjo but they're still allowed to hate on him.

You're not saying anything bad about Sora, which you're free to do, by the way.

You're hiding your dislike behind a ridiculous "Disney will buy Nintendo even though they work with SE without absorbing it because I say so" excuse to make it look like Sora in Smash is objectively bad. If you want to be salty, at least own it.

Not like Disney CAN buy Nintendo, anyways. Plus, they even held back on buying Twitter, purely because of how bad it is THERE.

Oh geez this has a lot of replies. Anyways, are you serious about the Sony thing? Smash is supposed to be a celebration of gaming and not giving Sony a chance because of a reason like that is ridiculous in my eyes. Fanrules about who can and can't get in just make the experience less fun. I apologize if I come off as rude, but try to be less dismissive when it comes to speculation

Sony could be possible. Remember Microsoft? Exact same reasoning. Anyways, Disney won't buy Nintendo simply cause they'd work with them. Not how Disney rolls man.

Microsoft's connection to Nintendo is way stronger than Sony's connection to Nintendo though. Nintendo and Microsoft made a commercial together to advertise cross play and Microsoft allowed some of their games on Switch. What have Nintendo and Sony ever done together?

>Sony holds part of the rights for the Advent Children movie so people speculate they were involved on the rights to get that costume in Smash.

>Sony and Nintendo originally worked on a scrapped project for a disc reader of the SNES which became the PlayStation

>Reggie, Phil Spencer and Shawn Layden (the heads of the American division of Sony Interactive, Nintendo and Microsoft Games) held one of the most famous speeches at the Game Awards.

>Sony once contacted Nintendo to work on an animated Mario movie around the time of the Infamous Sony hack

>Sony has offered on surveys the possibility of adding remote play to the Nintendo Switch in the future.

All in all, while not as strong as the Microsoft collaborations, Sony is far from being the Evil rival company they are seen as by some people in the Nintendo fandom.

Not to mention the big 3 once sent a letter together to Trump, complete with all 3 logos adorned on the top https://www.polygon.com/2019/6/26/18760087/trump-china-tariffs-nintendo-microsoft-sony

Q*Bert, a game character owned by Sony (albeit their movie branch, not their gaming branch - confusing, I know) appearing alongside Mario characters in Wreck-It Ralph and Pixels

The developers of PlayStation All-Stars like Mario enough to have wanted him in the game: https://mynintendonews.com/2012/07/17/playstation-all-stars-developers-want-super-mario-to-join-sonys-brawler/

In a history of bad takes, this one stands out. Nothing mentioned in the original post holds any water and the logic is incredibly flawed. I’m very doubtful that Disney would seek to purchase Nintendo just because they got Sora included. It would make sense to use Sora as a stepping stone to purchase one of the biggest game companies; an industry that Disney seemingly lacks any interest in entering aside from a few noteworthy Disney games here and there. The legal gymnastics and franchise rights seems like a way more convincing argument than “Disney might buy Nintendo.” That just seems like a very late-knee jerk reaction to Disney purchasing LucasFilms and Marvel. Disney purchasing Nintendo would also lead problems to Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan.

Sony snd Nintendo are not bitter rivals. Yes, they are rivals in that they both producing competing consoles but the console wars are more or less over in the eyes of the public. Microsoft and Nintendo are still technically rivals in that regard. Regardless, Sakurai has gone on to say that he doesn’t consider the “console wars” when considering characters. However, nothing as of recent suggests they are “bitter”. A lot of people previously used the “rivalry” between Nintendo and MS as a way to argue against Banjo/Steve?/Chief/etc but suddenly that’s no longer the case. I’m not going to write off a Sony Rep just because “rivalry”. I’m skeptical of a Song Rep myself but that’s because of a lack of notable IPs to use (Sly Cooper, Ratchet, Kratos, Parapa, and Kay and Ana being frontrunners but they are still a stretch.)

Your post should of said “Some companies that I don’t want to be put into Smash” because that’s the feeling your post and subsequent replies are given off.

Continuing from the whole "Disney will buy Nintendo" thing - did you even see Wreck-It Ralph? Hell, Toy Story has Barbie and Mr. Potato Head but Disney never intended to buy Hasbro or Mattel! Roger Rabbit? Angry Birds Star Wars? the countless Marvel/DC crossovers? Thanos in Fortnite? the TMNT, Power Rangers and Barbie appearing at Disneyland?

Disney aren't just some eldritch hivemind born from all the woes of capitalism - it's run by actual people who want the best for their company, employees and fans, through it may not always seem that way.

I’m cool with Sony and Disney. Though while I love(d) their games; Activision-Blizzard is one I think shouldn’t be in Smash. As much as I love Warcraft/Starcraff/Diablo/Overwatch, Activision-Blizzard’s actions in the Hong Kong protests left a very sour taste in my mouth.
