Wow. I come over here to tell you Im not culturally knowledgeable to understand what the little image you gave me mean and I see Gatlin's huge *** post talking about people who only listen to music off the radio to be "different".

I hope you don't think of me that way. I listen to music on the radio. Just not the pop/techno/hip hop/rap stuff other people do. I do enjoy some "mainstream" rock because they have addictive beats and sounds. But otherwise meh.

That's true. There's some people out there who only listen to music not played on the radio, as a way of being "a hipster" or whatever. I do hear the "sold out" term a whole bunch as an insult when talking to people about music, as if the band/artist they are talking about made a huge mistake or something, when really they are just trying to expand their fanbase. How would they gain any fans by dishing out the same shiz different album? Then you have the other people who listen to nothing but popular "radio music" or "mainstream" and drop artists when they convert to a style they don't approve of, and begin saying how "so much better they were in the old days."

It really makes no sense to me, people hating others for their music tastes, and people hating bands and treating them like they never existed once they try something new. I just listen to whatever sounds good to me, yet I get grief for liking a "sell out". I've always liked LP as well, ever since I was like 10, lol. In my eyes they haven't drastically changed "for the worst" like people claim, they are still the same LP I know and love no matter what genre of music they go for.

Ooooh very nice I listen to or have heard all of that! I don't really know why people seemed to drop LP after the Minutes to Midnight album came out.. I really liked it and the Thousand Suns album because they are experimenting with new styles of music instead of throwing out the same thing over and over. Kind of like a new refreshment each release which keeps me interested

By the way, is that the "Personal Charts" thing you have there? I saw it on your groups --> and I read it and it seemed like a cool idea, but no one posted in your thread Are you still doing that?

I just wanted you to experience a different type of music that you aren't used to listening to. I am in no way discriminating against the stuff that's on the radio but I also can't endorse it.

Just the community I live in has been completely destroyed. It used to be a bunch of kids born in Mooresville. Now its an insane amount of immigrants from New York and they've brought as we call it "Black people Music/Jiggaboo". Im just tired of this new music that everyone seems to worship.

Listen to whatever you want. Although I will send you a message every now and again telling you about a good song you should listen to. Like The Longest Time by Billy Joel. Go listen to that...well, you don't have to but its a friendly suggestion.

I myself listen to most of the music people seem to like calling "mainstream". Artists like Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Kesha, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, Eminem, etc. As well as bands like Linkin Park (old and new), Anberlin, and some other randoms here and there.

Just about anything and everything played on the radio.

Go find old artists when people played music for emotion, different sounds, and kept in mind that music was an art not a moneybag.

This is going to be wayyy out of your little selection of music. But I want you to listen to "Wayfaring Stranger" by Jack White. Listen to it 5 times a day. I want you to sit down and listen to it. Nothing else can distract you. When you listen to it you have to sit down and actually decipher the sounds. Find that "backbeat" and thump your foot to it as you listen to the contrasting sounds of the guy's voice. Its bluegrass blah blah blah but it is immensely GOOD bluegrass.

Sit down 5 times a day. And listen to it. Don't do anything else. JUST LISTEN. Close your eyes and feel the noises that are made.

Don't think of it as music but as noise in your ear. Separate each noise and put them together.

Do this for a week. Tell me what you think after that week.

A personal chart? Never done that before, I'll spend my $50 of Christmas itunes before I start that, though, the IL thread gave me some suggestions on what to get like Led Zeppelin from DLA, Cake from Compser, KANYE from Scythe, So far I;ve listened to led Zeppelin, and I liked it pretty well.

This is one time I am glad I asked them about music since I thought people were gonna recommend a bunch of anime/VG music and I've been working on getting away from that a bit more so I could expand my views on music. On the flip side they recommended some other bands that I've been working on sample so I can get a view on if I like them or not.

Defiantly feels nice with IL/WI and you with music talk.

Wow, I just had the biggest "Ohhh" moment, haha. I didn't realize iTunes could just directly export it to a .txt file like that (well, I think I explored that at some point, but completely forgot), thank you so much for telling me that -- I would've been manually typing all of my charts into a .txt file.
