I just read about it. It's interesting. The main problem I have with food is that it randomly appears and because of this it can interrupt attacks. Let's say I'm trying to jab some one and food randomly appears and cancels the jab this I get killed for it. >< That would be so annoying.

There's this thing called DI. If you hold up, then you can either tech the floor or airdodge to the ground.

That "0-death" is so situational. If you're holding any direction on the control stick, then you're not going to get locked by the d-tilt. I wouldn't worry about it.
