On Pictochat...... Oh well still interesting right?

Spinshot inwards on one of the edges of Pictochat. If done correctly, you'll slide roughly the same distance as Marth's old WD.
And guess what....it can be interrupted with any move. Yes that's right....the real wavedash.

So what if it's situational...sue me.

It's difficult to get at first. One of three things can happen when attempting this:
1)Success
2)You instantly go into the slow dash.
3)You Spin Charge Jump at an increased angle.
Try fully charging while on the very point of the corner. The charge should pull you back into the right position.

I'll try to get some video up by the end of the week.

I'm glad you chose Pictochat for one of our matches.

I'm just your problem~
A lot of characters' throws chain right into the stage hazards.

I think Tenki mentioned something about Side B having invincibility here or something, though.

Oh, on stages like YI and Pictochat, you can take advantage of the edges to start iSDR (invincible spindash rolls) by doing side-B on the edges - same way you'd do an airdash, except you won't actually go into the air.

What you describe is more of a waveland than wavedash though xD.

Like doing a spindash and jumpcancelling it on a steep hill, you silly.

Eh, this would make Pictochat a little more Sonic friendly.
If we can find out what causes this... =)

DANG, Tenki already knows everything. T_T

Duh, spinshot = fast aerial speed.

Fast aerial speed > hill --> waveland.

Same thing with doing a lagless D-air on a slight slope (like say, Brinstar) --> waveland.

Foxtrot and DDP seems to be the closest thing we have to it lol.

Tenki is like the Emblem Lord of the Sonic Boards, the only difference is we're all insane.

Why do we have so many Accronyms?!?!?!
lol, I saw someone using it, so I followed suit.

it beats saying foxtrot dance/dashdance pivot.

Oh, and another difference: Emblem Lord is a good player.

Last time I played you, you weren't THAT bad.

You were like Umby.

Wait, I guess you do kinda suck.

This technique would be like way better if it wasn't on a stage like Pictochat. Not a big fan of Pictochat.

yeah... quoted for teh truth I'll have actual match situations (aka real games) with this tomorrow up on youtube.

It's a pain in the butt with wifi matches. The timing is hard enough without input lag interfering with your "audio memory training stuff" Jaybee was talking about.

So apparently I did a regular spin dash from off the edge. At some point near or on the edge of the stage, I jumped out of it and got the same effect as if I would have done a spinshot?

yes.

Spin Shot
Spin shot is the technique that allows you to do a "full hop" at something similar to running speed, allowing Sonic to have *gasp* high air speed!

The basic input for this is usually side-B (charge) > release + [Jump/Attack]

You may have noticed that it only works if you have a double jump remaining, and here's why: Spin shot IS a double jump. It will not work from a grounded Spin Charge because you are not in the air, and it will not work without a double jump because you can't jump-cancel the moves.

...But it is NOT a normal double-jump. The 'jump cancel' from pressing jump or attack during an aerial charge (both side/down-b), SD hop, or ASC is a little different from a normal double-jump, since you go into it pressing either [attack] or [jump]. I'm guessing it's this 'special' double-jump that allows you to Spin Shot.

This move only seems to work by jump-cancelling during an aerial phase change:
- Side-B (charge) > SD (Hop) + jump
- Aerial Down-b (charge) > ASC + jump
- SDR (roll off platform) > ASC + jump

You can't do it out of a SDJ because SDJ is the last move - it doesn't flow into any other phases.
That one?

No one reads Tenki's posts, silly. They just look at and say "OMG TENKI IS AWESOME AND KNOWLEDGEABLE!!"

He is, but no one reads his posts.

spinshotting back onto the stage is wonderful since you'll slide in a standing position.
I did it once to an MK user an Fsmashed him from behind as he dashed forward for an edgeguard. Ahhh never worked again afterwards cause its such a stupid idea.

Actually you can do this on more stages than that, even if the floor is flat, I've done it on Smashvill and yoshi's Island, and I think FD. It is situational because you have to SpinShot it just right, but meh.
