I wont make a big *** post and tell you about how i called my victory LONG before we fought. im just gonna say i had a **** good time playing you and it was really fun to have a crowd watching us do our thing.
I most definitely agree--our set was REALLY fun, and I loved having the crowd around us hyping it up.

Like Hobo said, I'll be training for our future rematch. :)

EDIT--Oh, and watch game 2 if you love Bowser.

Gloat like a madman, I'd do it and would expect nothing less from my opponent. Bask in your victory while you can because make no mistake we've sent Zig to go train in the mountains, and when he returns he'll get his revenge.

Let the training montage begin.

Lol, in retrospect, we probably should have given Zig some tips. Like, I'm pretty sure you can Jab missiles or FTilt them at least. And I thought counter picking that Metroid stage (the name escapes me at the moment) was a bad idea from the moment the vid started. x_x

Good job anyway though, Zig. Now we just need to get you to play against some other decent Samus players to prac- oh yeah, my bad. Xyro's the only one, I forgot. :p

Seriously, firebreath instead of tilt/jab wouldve made the edge that much more risky...constant hitbox gives no openings

Just another day.
The fact that Samus still has invincible frames while doing the Zair makes it slightly less useful. You can trade, but that hurts us more than it would hurt Samus (in terms of positioning).

Zair goes straight through Fire breath and reduces the length of the fire. You can Jab missiles.

Yeah, I knew you could jab missiles, but I hadn't practiced the timing enough and didn't feel comfortable doing it this time around.

Something to practice in the mountains.

Well uh, I played Wes's Samus...I mean he's not a Samus main but he is that one Melee Samus guy.

JK, he's actually a really smart player. But uh, aside from that, I could have told you some things. I don't know why I didn't in the first place.

I told Zig a few things, he took on board a lot of it and it worked well for him (Castle Siege being the main thing). He forgot some major aspects however and didn't utilise grab release follow ups well enough.

Yeah, my timing was off on a lot of GRs in friendlies, so I didn't go for too much here, haha.

Yeah, with enough experience he'll learn to follow up more fluently on grab releases. Once he gets powershielding down and things like that, it won't look as bad.

Zigsta still seems as though he's not flowing with Bowser perfectly, but I do see improvement.

How many months has it been since you started really using Bowser anyway? It does take a while to find a good Bowser flow -_-

well, @your post Zigsta, I usually use friendlies as a main way to get my grab release timing down to a T before I go into bracket. If there's a free TV (usually not the case) I practice grab release setups on common characters I see like MK, Snake, Dedede and Falco.

I might be a hell of a nerd but I memorized grab release followups on like half of the cast in the air, but all grounded. -.- At first I used to think, "****, what move do I want to do when it releases?" now I just go with it.

Things like that take time, don't worry. I have faith in you :]

It's only been like a month or two since I've completely dropped PT in favor for Bowser. Prior to that, I practiced PT far more often than Bowser, but I've been using Bowser more and more the past 5 months or so.

One of my problems right now with GR timing is I haven't gotten around to buying component cables for my HDTV yet. They don't cost too much, but I've been saving my money lately for emergency film stuff with my two shoots coming up this week. I get my paycheck from Disney within two weeks, so I'll use part of that for component cables.

Next week, I'm going to start writing down all the GR options, both grounded and aerial, in groups of five, on an index card. I'll spend my walking time that week, which ranges from 40 minutes to an hour and a half a day on average, memorizing Bowser's options. Then after I've gotten my component cables, I'll get the timing down on all the GRs for those 5 characters.

I'll see how that process works. If I'm memorizing the options rather fast, then I'll add onto that weekly list.

Just give me a bit more time, and I'll be good to go. With the very rare use of Wario, Bowser's my sole focus in Brawl now.

Zigsta, you need to be working off of a standard TV. Having already tried playing and practicing brawl on both a monitor and HDTV. My standard TV helps with my CG timing so much....I even tried bringing both the HDTV/monitor to locals only to have my CG timing thrown way off -_- Cables for the HDTV and monitor will not help either as i have personally spent alot of money on both. The results are still the same, i get like 2-3 frames of delay. The Monitor also had REALLY bad ghosting going on. But that was most likely because I had to get a converter to go with it..so it was already running off of delay because the component signal has to be converted so the monitor can display the images >.>

Bowsers grab releases are pretty tight, you need to be able to frame perfect your grabs on some characters i believe.

If your working for Disney--hell any company/school that still has standard TVs setting in their building. Ask to buy those!! My place of work has 3 standard TVs they barely use and all 3 would work great for brawl. I even asked my boss if she were to retire those TVs i would be more than happy to buy them off her.

If you really are working for disney now, they gotta have something....some TV they dont use and its just a standard TV.

I throw weekly fests at my place, and two guys bring their SDTVs, but aside from that, my place has 3 HDTVs. They're superior to SDTVs for watching movies, haha.

i understand that, i got like 4-6 TVs in my house and a HDTV/Monitor that runs XBox in HD soooo beautifully omg when i got the HDTV cables for it i **** my pants when i pluged this baby into my huge HDTV and saw everything in such wonderful sparkling colors <3333333333

sigh however your not doing yourself a favor by using a HDTV to practice bowser with. I tried practicing on my small HDTV/monitor for 2 weeks and have tried y splitting my cables and practicing on 2 screens[stv, hdtv] to see if there was really a frame rate issue and there just was -_____- i cannot CG marth on DDD with a hdtv. Just doesnt work...:(

i highly insist you look around at your place of work for a TV, or just ask people to buy their standard TV. Im sure no one other than a smasher would care about a standard TV now-a-days

I was literally JUST watching the trailer for Sharktopus a few hours ago! I'm a huge Roger Corman fan--he's actually responsible for starting the careers of a ton of famous directors like Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Ron Howard.

I've got 3 HDTVs because I live with two roomies, and we all have an HDTV, haha. Disney pays me $300 a month.

Hmm, I was worried about that.

How much do cheap SDTVs run? If they're not too much, I can definitely buy one for practicing my GRs during non-Zigfest days.

dunno depends on the size-- small stv's wont do you justice, try to aim for something as big as 22 inches and higher so you can see.

but like 150-200$ for a decently sized standard TV should be good-- assuming its going to be already used you should thoroughly check the tv to make sure no buttons stick/are broken off/power cord is intact/you have the remote too it and that the screen doesnt distort the images or blur them. Older heavily used stv's will do that. Being an artist myself that would completely drive me nuts if the images were heavily blurred all the time...

ill have to look into that film marker...your saying those directors were influenced by his work or they studied under him?

Yikes! That's a bit pricey for me--don't wanna use too much of my $300 check in one place.

I'll poke around on Craigslist and see if I can find something cheaper.

Yeah, thanks for that D.E it was really appreciated.

And thanks again for that Bowser picture you drew like a year and a half ago...lol

Zigsta it's SO helpful to have a normal TV. Like D.E. said, some grab release options you need to buffer through or be frame perfect on (aka Jigglypuff UAir? The reason why I **** it up so much..lol) It'll help if you have a normal average sized TV you can just practice on occasionally. And get one fast because quite frankly idk where all the standard TVs are going. :l

The whole index card thing--if it helps you, I guess do it. I just sat in training mode for 45 minutes and just figured out what I could and could not do on that list--what was easy to do with a flick of the stick or a few button presses, and what seemed to be more difficult. That way, I had the basic options down while the more situational or frame tight stuff deserved a different session.

No one's really rushing you dude, hopefully this game will be around for a long time. There really is no rush...I have to get through high school first before I can do anything, lmao.

yea no prob, i spent like 500$ on equip trying to find an alt for smash but no such luck. I always got a use for something so none of this equip will go to waste fo sure. Plug the monitor i got into the laptop it becomes a very effective work station and its highly recommended artists use dual monitors to work on. Its got great color too, very handy for coloring on. The converter box works as a digital receiver for my hdtv monitor and reg PC monitor fancy that? I can watch cartoon network on either one! Too bad the pc monitor dont have a HDMI port, i could of bought a cable for that for my xbox.

all tho i could prolly draw a better boozer pic now lol

Oh, well the one you drew was still amazing and I loved it. You can give it a try again if you'd like...lol

and that's a great deal Zigsta. I think my TV back home in my room is around 20" or something like that, and I've had it for about 6 years. The sound coming out of the left speaker doesn't work, but there's no lag at all or anything.

You'll only benefit from that TV man.

after playing ssf4 and seeing how inputs n canceling work yea you def need the right equipment to play the matches smoothly. Like you cant even play certain characters in ssf4 without getting a stick or game pad lol

Fast fall up+B worked on you over 5 times! Your little "training in the mountains" needs to be super intense cause you got ALOT of work to do if u wanna even come close to beating me.

I thought when i killed Bambi u would have learned i have no morals. I thought that i further proved it when i MOLESTED yo trash bowser. I cant believe you want another dose of decimation.

Zigsta I have to agree with Xyro for a while, maybe you shouldn't push it so hard. Xyro for now is just a lot of a better player, and I don't see any reason to raise the bar so high already.
