Request: Seeing as these threads will get to have clever or cool names under your rule, can we PLEASE name any main data thread "Fairy Fountains Research II"? (A nod towards Brawl Zelda's data thread)

Edit: oh yeah, if any of y'all play the for fun/for glory wifi modes, look out for me. (BJN39/BJN_39) I'll be 'round as Zelda and WFT mainly.

We should all friend each other. If not to play against, at least we would recognize each other better if we see other SB Zelda's.

I'll keep an eye out when the game finally releases in NA. My tag is usually "Ricky". I'll probably be using Zelda, Sheik, Lucario, and Fox. But mostly Zelda, of course.

This is going to be like the Brawl Online Social thread and Friend Finder, haha. Except only Zeldas.

This is easily the best Zelda performance I've seen so far. Uses EVERY move she has in good situations, and I learned a lot about how the character should be played in this game from watching.

I think Zelda is probably a very viable character in this game. Yeah, she still has to take risks to approach, and her OOS options aren't too great. However, she has a REALLY strong edge trap game, which is important to consider given the nerfs to edge invincibility, and Din's Fire likewise is a lot more scary in a game where airdodging isn't as safe and of course when it also allows safe edge pressure. Her air mobility is pretty good, and threatening when Up-B is a legitimate KO move, which gives Zelda a lot of creative spacing, combo, and escape options. Zelda in general has a lot of potential to easily punish you HARD for any mistakes, due to her huge range at which she can set up juggles/traps.

Another thing going for her is having a reflector. When characters like Robin and Duck Hunt look solid, having a reflector is invaluable for checking some of their stronger options.

So some people were talking about this tier list:
http://morchudat.tumblr.com/post/97705258893/beginning-smash-4-thoughts
Obviously, tier lists don't mean anything this early on, but it's still nice to see Zelda being listed higher than she was in Brawl.
B tier? Whoa.
I'm not putting too much weight into that since the list was created by a single player and the game is very new, but it is certainly refreshing to see all those other characters below Zelda, lol.

Zelda does has a history of appearing much higher on initial tier lists, only to fall as the meta develops.

Is that guy who made that tier list credible/known at all or just a random person?
Damn Falco, I heard a lot on him being bad this time around. I gotta check gameplay vids of him.
Nice placement of her though, I feel she'll debut high as usual, say around B. And then once people understand her mechanics better, including Phantom, they'll do a better job. But the same goes for us as well.
As @ A2ZOMG A2ZOMG pointed out, we have a reflector. Projectiles are rampent it seems this time and since Nayrus improved, we're going to be looking good against Robin/DHD/Megaman/ROB etc. Them going away to camp won't phase us as bad as it did in Brawl.

How do I view this match? I see no play button.

Ideally you should get yourself a free Nico account, but that link also works. In general Nicovideo is a pretty good place to look for footage of スマブラ3ds/wiiu right now.

Oh hey I didn't think of using Nico for Smash. Not a bad idea.

Really nice Zelda play. Finally got to see someone use Nayru's. It's sooo good against rushdown, and I think it'll be our go-to option against characters like Falcon and Little Mac who like to go in hard. Great find!

Unless I missed something, Zelda probably has one of the strongest Jabs in this game besides Shulk, Little Mac, and Bowser.

While it only does 5%, it is INSANELY safe, looks like it has very respectably fast startup, and at mid percents, you can combo people (usually with Dash Attack) for not teching. Generally has amazing utility as a poke and you can get easy combos from it.

One thing I noticed from that video is that Zelda immediately used f tilt right out of the jab, there was barely any lag between them. I wonder if tiers are even going to be necessary this time around seeing as how every character is pretty well balanced.

loveee that video, it shows us moves that aren't used as much. Nayrus is a beast, I think it's better for our new Panic move, and down smashed is saved for when we will need it most.

Also dins>>>
With air dodging being more difficult and risky, throwing a couple of these out won't hurt.

At 4:46 that fab walk to ftilt made me laugh.

That video made me pretty optimistic about Zelda indeed!

So that uploader has some other Zelda videos as well if you guys haven't already seen. All Nico again.

vs :4dedede:
vs :4dedede:(Again)
vs :4dk: & :4mario:
vs :4sonic:(Sonic looking as obnoxious to fight as ever)

I heard you can hit Dedede's Gordos back at him with most attacks, as seen at 4:41 of the first Dedede video. However, in the second Dedede video, at 3:15, Zelda's Fsmash clearly collides with the Gordo, but she still gets hit. Would that be because Fsmash is multi-hit, so you'd have to get the last hit of Fsmash to send it back?

I have a feeling you have to use a move that clashes with the gordo to send it back. Zelda's Fsmash never clashes, and so is probably not a good move to use. Someone will need to verify what I'm saying though, ha!

^ if Fsmash didn't hit it, perhaps Gordo can only be deflected by non transcending priority attacks? That would be pretty lame... >_>

Hnngg, more nico links. >.< I definitely can't watch them without a Computer.

Now it might be a little early to start thinking about this but I would like to propose the idea of having a thread devoted to teams. Like how well would Zelda and Duck Hunt work together as a team? There was one of these floating around somewhere for brawl and I don't think it would be a bad idea to have it for smash 4. Zelda is a great team player so having a strategy compendium for her team match ups couldn't hurt.
Thoughts?

Hnnnngh, those videos are awesome. Zelda looks like a nice choice for Dedede, and I'll be honest - I was expecting Sonic to just destroy Zelda, so I was really pleasantly surprised. This Zelda player is very good at making use of all her attacks, not just spamming Farore's Wind and fsmash

Every video I see makes me less and less afraid of Zelda being straight up unviable. I'm sure there are characters who outclass her, and she'll probably have a few very hard counters - but even if she's relatively low on the tier list as a whole (still can't even begin to guess at what her tier placement will end up being - everyone looks pretty great this go around, imo) I still think she'll be a viable pick for her mains and for matchups that she'll be able to clean up. Smash 4 is looking incredibly well balanced to be honest - I don't think there's a single character who stands out to me as unviable at all.

And yes, I'd love to exchange FC's with other SB Zelda players! Sounds like a great idea.

@ Katty Shepherd Katty Shepherd I think that could be really cool! Not if I did it, because I have zero experience with teams, but I'd like to see it if there's someone willing and able!

I'm so happy I found this friend. I'm not super great with Zelda, but she's my favorite to use in Brawl. Would love to exchange FC with anyone willing to fight/train with me ^ ^

Just a reminder: Brawl's online should be disabled thanks to Nintendo disabling wi-fi for their older systems :C

Still love to train with anyone in a few days once Smash 3DS comes out though!

Hello peeps. There is an online tournament coming up on October 11th where everyone is character locked before the event starts and I took Zelda all for myself! This is a 32+ player double elimination tournament and will be streamed on Twitch. Custom moves are allowed and equipment is banned. If anyone wants to come watch some Zelda tournament play you should check it out!

My top priority as soon as the game is released is getting the custom specials for both Zelda and Sheik. Mainly Zelda's customs so I can test different sets and prepare for the tournament. If anyone is interested in going a few rounds for tournament practice then hit me up!

My current custom set I have in mind:
Din's: all 3 are interesting so I will have to play around with these. Leaning towards the Delayed Din's Fire currently.
Nayru's: Nayru's Ardour. It draws in and explodes things! (regular Nayru's against anyone with projectiles)
Farore's: Default. This could possibly be the best move in the game. It makes top 5 easy.
Phantom: Phantom Breaker. Always launches the same distance and has a shield braker property.

Nayru's Ardour sucks, way too slow, I think you'd be better with default.
I agree here. I think Nayru's and Farore's customs look useless when default is just better than them always. I do think both Din's and both Phantom customs are better than default though, probably

Hello everyone. User Luminario told me to visit here for Zelda warm kindness as I am a fan of her. I use Zelda on the Smash Flash 2 Game after having seen user videos on youtube about a Brazilian player named TBS. Ever since I've been hyped to play Smash Brothers game but I don't have melee nor a wii for brawl. I've only played smash 64 on pc to learn the basics and Smash Flash 2 to be able to get a grasp of how Zelda behaves. I have the game pre ordered for 3ds because I don't have a WiiU so this will be my very first Smash game I truly own and are able to play with the real Zelda. I'm currently a participant in a 65 people online tourney and I'm the only Zelda player. I really like her and want to be good with her but I've had little support. Only one person sympathized with me on gamefaqs to be another Zelda player and looking for info on Smash wiki, the info about her is more negative than positive. While other user usually say her tier position is pretty bad and she's just a trash player lagging behind. This really has me hurt in spirits despite my firm position to main her and not backing down but i'm afraid i'd be truth and i'd get wiped on the first round and especially being a rookie Zelda player. If it were not for Smash Flash 2 I would have not been able to test Zelda at all. Luminario said this would be a good place to look for strategies and support. I hope you guys help me.

I've been playing some Multi Man Brawl (or whatever it's called) and Zelda is a real beast in it this time. Faroe's Wind is just too good lol, the CPU can't handle it. I've just gone through 100 opponents in Endless Brawl without getting hit and I managed to beat 6 CPU's in the Cruel Brawl in a few mins (just beating one with Ganondorf took me the same time lol).

I'll see what I can do. I have Oct 3 to practice and the morning and day times of the 4th. I'll be unlocking all characters by playing with Zelda one 1v1 and I'll use lvl 9 cpus for the challenge. That's 120 battles of which 100 will be with Zelda then do other modes to further nurture my skills. The Tourney will be 1v1 so I'll get the best practice like that. After I do all that I'll go online for human play. I hope all that can prepare me for the tourney. Thank you all. These are some of the very few positive feedback about Zelda I've heard.
