I had to sacrifice my TPHD preorder to do dumb prom and college stuff...there's still a really small chance I'll still be able to get it with leftover money but I doubt it. :c

I didn't buy TPHD (despite TP being my favorite Zelda game of all time) due to the fact that Final Fantasy XV is finally going to be upon us... Persona 5 too, but mostly FFXV. I'll probably wait to get TPHD and Pokken after price drops and I come into more money.

Btw girls. You can now get Regirock, Regice and Registeel with their Hidden Abilities.

Regirock gets Sturdy (Immune to OHKO Moves. So it's basically a free Focus Sash). Regice gets Ice Body (Restore 1/18th of HP in Hail). And Registeel gets Light Metal (Its weight is cut by 1/2). It's cool that we can get their Hidden Abilities now.

But competitively, I cannot see these being viable. Since Clear Body is really good for them. One example being Regirock can get +1 Attack from a Power Up Punch, and be immune to an Intimidate. Looking at the HA, they're all gonna be gimmicky competitively.

The new Paper Mario game looks very similar to Sticker Star, which is a shame. A lot of people are probably dissapointed by that :( I think it looks interesting though.

(Inb4 the final boss is Bowser as a blob of paint)

So I guess we all saw the Direct. Just to recap for anyone who didn't see it:

StarFox Zero - That SNES Arwing killed me.
StarFox Squad - Looks interesting.
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games - Eh. Pass!
Super Mario Maker Update - Hooray! More level designs and ideas! <3
Splatoon Update - Least SquidKids will be occupied
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE - I really wanna get this now. It looks like it'll be a bucket of laughs. Since I've seen what happens at the end, and it is hilarious.
Lost Reavers - Fix that Framerate Bandai Namco. :V
Paper Mario - Dammit Nintendo, I know that we all want a new Paper Mario in the style of TTYD. But one in the style of Sticker Star... :c (It looks very pretty though)
(US Only) Pokken - I hope Pikachu's ending will be Pikachu dropping Raichu down a cliff with this expression:

Twilight Princess HD - Looking nice and pretty there~ :3
My Nintendo - Eh, don't have/use a phone anyways. So it won't effect me.
(US Only) Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge - Looks cute, but I'll pass.
Animal Crossing amiibo - ISABELLE! <3
SNES Virtual Console on 3DS - That is damn awesome. Looking forward to that. We won't get Mother 3, but at least we'll get Earthbound on the go. :secretkpop:
Pocket Card Jockey - Horse's Horsite is reacting to Jockey's Mega Bracelet!
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 - Yo! Where Mighty No. 9 at!?
Fire Emblem Fates - Finally got a release date for the EU Version! 20th of May. Get hyped.
Hyrule Warriors Legends - Medli as an extra DLC Character. Neat. And the Wind Waker Ganon costume looks fun. :yeahboi:
Disney Art Academy - ...NEXT!
(US Only) Bravely Second - Catmancer looks hilarious, but I'll call it Nekomancer; since it sounds much better and rolls off the tongue better too. I should try the Bravely Series.
Dragon Quest 7 - Looks cool, but I'll wait for Dragon Quest 8.
Monster Hunter Generations -
(But seriously. I'll play the hell out of this, plus the extra content from MH4U!? Yes please! <3)

Metroid Prime Federation Force - So... who's ready to check the Dislike Bar on the trailer? :secretkpop:
Rhythm Heaven Megamix - I really wanna play the Rhythm Heaven series, guess I'll get the series. :yeahboi:
Kirby Planet Robobot - We Gundam/Lagann now!? :yeahboi:

Overall, a great Direct. Some of them are cool choices.

The Paper Mario series has been dead to me since Super Paper Mario reared its ugly head. This new game looks bad and I doubt I'll pick it up.

TTYD (and PM64 to a lesser degree) is still one of my favorite games ever, though.

Don't know about anyone else, but that direct was HYPE as ****.

Can't wait for Star Fox: Zero to get released. Super hyped for that game. I'm really happy that it looks more like its own game instead of Star Fox 64 2.0

I liked how Miyamoto literally said "git gud" at one point during the presentation lol.

Free Medli is pretty dope. They really won't stop supporting that game will they? Not a bad thing though!

Nice to see a new Paper Mario game even though it looks like Sticker Star 2.0

Despite that, it looks MUCH better than SS and I have a feeling it will be a decent game regardless.

Tokyo Mirage was cancer and Federation Forces still looks bad but I'll probably watch a play through of it to keep track of the story. It's nice to see that it takes place after Prime 3 though.

New Kirby game looks pretty cool. That RPG side game looks great and that Kirby Super Star Remix sounds amazing.

My man :068: kicking *** (or punching *** lol) like a boss. Can't wait to wreck stuff with him.

It's also good to see that Project Guard is still alive in a new form. Nice surprise. I'll be getting Star Fox Guard along with Zero for sure.

Finally, the best part of the direct:

Playtime's over SassQueens. :wolf:

Wolf's looking ****ing badass as ****!

I'm really happy that they're using the Brawl/Assault design over the 64 one. Whoever made that decision deserves a medal. I didn't even expect that to happen and braced for the 64 design so that was an incredible surprise.

It even sounds like he has a similar voice to Brawl/Assault instead of the accent from 64 which is fantastic.

Star Fox: Zero keeps shredding my expectations to pieces and I can't wait to play it.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it becomes the best Star Fox game in the series.

It'll be nearly a literal decade since the last, non remake, Star Fox game came out and it looks like the wait will be worth it.

And to think there are people saying they wasted 41 minutes of their life watching the direct lol. Weaklings the bunch of them.

Super Paper Mario, while different, still had the same charm as the first two in terms of story and dialogue.

Sticker Star was literally just a Mario game with "Paper" slapped onto it.

Gorls please help

I'm currently fighting this one person on FG, who's mad to the point of trying to beat me in Zelda dittos (The man can't even do dthrow->nair->bair properly) and I keep wiping the floor with him. The problem is, I can't think of sassy tags.

GORLS HELP ME THINK OF SASSY TAGS PLS.

It probably wouldn't be so trashed at if it didn't have the "Metroid" name in it.
:196:
That's what they said about DmC: Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy XIII... I'm willing to be they'd be compared to DMC and FF meaning they're still trash. *likes both games* :p

FFXIII was pretty good, they tried a quick paced and linear story and did a good job with it. It wasn't what people wanted from a FF. I'm POed at the Deus Ex Machina "plots" that were forced on FFXIII-2 and 3 though.

Super Paper Mario was a fun change of pace if you don't think of it as the next true Paper Mario after TTYD. Sure it wasn't a great game but I got my money out of it.

I haven't watched the direct but will do so now, btw.

Star Fox Zero... The voice director or the voice direction for Fox and the game in general seems to be more "serious" and less 90's campy. This is the voice direction that should have been used for Smash 4. Billy West's SFZ Fox sounds less ridiculous and just like 64 Fox if he wasn't campy. It's almost like Steve Malpass's Fox in Adventures which was fine. It's not older and wiser Jim Walker's voice, but it's not campy Fox which was fine for 64 and 64 3D, but is somewhat grating in a fighting game. People did overreact with Fox's voice in Smash 4 since outside of his spoken lines for Fire Fox, his Up and Down Taunt, and his victory lines, Billy West's Fox was just fine. I'm also getting James Arnold Taylor, Ratchet, and Tidus vibes with Fox in Zero.

Same goes for Falco. Mark Lund's combat clips were fine, but his spoken lines were just 64 3D, flippant Falco. Star Fox Zero's heading for a sharper tone. It almost makes him seem angrier than any of his other voices... BROOKLYN RAGE! Seriously, it does. 64, Assault, and 64 3D with Bill Johns, Mike Madeoy, and Mark Lund would be the middle-line; Falco was snarky and had a Brooklyn accent. In Adventures, Falco was basically Chris Rock, so Ben Cullum's Falco was a bit more mellower, but kind of off... It just doesn't "sound" like Falco. This link has clips used and unused in Adventures: https://tcrf.net/Star_Fox_Adventures/Unused_Voice_Clips#Scales_vs._Fox.2FFalco. With Brawl, Dex Manley's sounded angry, but mostly through his combat lines since Falco was still his old, snarky self with his spoken lines. And now in Zero, with some glimpses of Falco... Yeah, he sounds angry and on edge... The irony is that he sounds like a typical Call of Duty character, but it works since everyone else isn't. :p

For Wolf... The weird thing is that he's the only character? in Star Fox to go through radical voice changes. In 64 and 64 3D through Jock Blaney and Jaz Adams, he had a British accent and sounded smug and snobby. In Assault, with Grant Goodeve, his voice became deeper and more gravelly, he switched to an American accent, and he switched from being smug and snobby to being calmer and as an antagonist mentor. Jay Ward's Wolf in Brawl was more feral and more Southern?, but still kept Assault's feel. And now, whoever's voicing Wolf in Zero... he sounds older and more gravelly, but still similar to Assault's direction. I swear I know who's voicing him, but I can't place a name to it. Anyway, feeling like this Wolf is more of the canned Star Fox 2's Wolf who by design looked more rough and tumble than Star Fox 64, smug and crisp, classic British villain Wolf or even Assault's romantic, honorable space pirate Wolf.

TL;DR: Fox sounds great by being less campy and more like a young pilot facing the world, Falco got even angrier, and Wolf's going with the "continuation" rather than the original and remake's direction.

If Nintendo pulls a Hyrule Warriors: Legends with Smash 4 and the NX, Wolf needs to be in. There's no unreleased designs, no spoilers since he definitely is in the game and assuming the NX is released (way) after Zero which is a no-brainer, and come on, it's Wolf.

DmC is only regarded as bad because of its awful "2edgy" tone that doesn't fit the series at all (nor is it well written).

I haven't played it but I've heard the gameplay is fine.

the mobile versions of Monster Hunter are the only ones that sell well

3Ultimate for Wii U had online and it still sold worse than the non-wifi 3ds version

The Wii U in general sold poorly, sadly. That and Hyrule Warriors still sucks for non-3DS owners though :urg:.

My summary is this: Square Enix overestimated what the PS3 and Xbox 360 were capable of leading to about a game's worth of content cut from it, they decided on a weird idea to emulate FPS games which explains the extreme linearity until like +20 hours and by then, probably 70% of players would say screw it and stop playing, and like the linearity thing, combat doesn't get hard until side quests as you're dealing with artificial difficulty through locked levels before reaching Gran Pulse. Also, the equipment upgrade system was utter trash. I'd take MMO looting in FF XII over FF XIII's whatever the hell that was.

XIII-2 streamlined the gameplay and opened the world... Combat still wasn't difficult until late game and during side quests. At least it was getting difficult, but the spike doesn't happen until late game which is a problem as you don't really get a chance to mess with the combat mechanics throughout the game. I haven't played LR, but the main problem would be that it removes what's considered a core FF: party members. The game can be as great as it can be, combat, story, etc., but without party members not matter how trivial they are to you like in Kingdom Hearts, the game leans more towards action-RPG like Demon's Souls or a hack 'n' slash like Ninja Gaiden.

DmC is only regarded as bad because of its awful "2edgy" tone that doesn't fit the series at all (nor is it well written).

I haven't played it but I've heard the gameplay is fine.
I blame both the developers, Capcom and Ninja Theory, and the fans. I blame the developers since their description of DmC was a freaking clusterbomb. DmC was a reboot and origin story. This meant not only was it part of DMC, but it also not part of DMC. Now, I think people, but maybe not the developers, settled on alternate universe like DMC's a DC or Marvel comic series. Basically, they confused the hell out of players interested in the story or lore of DMC.
I blame Capcom for wanting a radical change with DmC, but backing down from backlash. Capcom specifically told NT to go as far away from DMC as possible and when it was revealed in a sloppily, rushed teaser that received a ton of backlash, they backed down, let NT take the heat, and more or less developed the game to be more like DMC with achievements and random references that most of the time, made no sense at all. The thing is it was all Capcom's idea to make a radical DmC; NT wanted to make a DMC game. They wanted it to be like DMC, but were told not to and make something way different and they did. NT were just doing their job. Looking at their concept art had Dante looking like Geralt of Rivia and Hellboy. The Witcher's fine with DMC going to a more medieval setting, but could you imagine DmC stylized like Mike Mignola's art of Hellboy? It'd just be a different art direction probably in a different universe, but still DMC. Even with the radical shift, NT had ideas that would make DmC more of a Noir than an Ultimate Marvel comic. It would have been way darker and edgier which the teaser showed, but in the end, we got a more generic, over-the-top at times hack 'n' slash game torn from being a DMC game and not being a DMC. Freaking teaser even showed an assumed concept of Ebony & Ivory having movesets instead of combo filler like in previous DMC games and even in Bayonetta. Sad really when Capcom has Saika Magoichi in Sengoku Basara fighting with firearms not just by shooting, but almost as if she's hitting people.

I blame NT for backing down as well and I blame them for their elaborate descriptions of DmC that ended up being used against them because they failed to deliver a "Shakespearean" game. If they just said we're making the story cover relevant themes of corruption and disenfranchisement which they actually said once, then cool. Fail or not, it would have been known that's what they were heading for and not this failure to create a legend.

I blame the fans for the rabid, unwarranted, and over-the-top negative reactions. You can be displeased, but death threats and extreme public hatred is really not something you want to throw at fellow humans making a freaking game. You can't say Tameem Antoniades is an *** when you send him daily death threats causing him to understandably snap back. Capcom and NT were not making a nuclear missile named after DMC. They were not launching a chemical missile to Bolivia with the message: "KILL ALL DEMONS", or plastering any religious center with "___ MUST DIE". They were just making a game you didn't like, so just say "Screw you!" and don't buy the product. The reactions from them only fed it more attention than it needed. DmC as a game was at worse, DMC1 in terms of "content" or DMC4 in terms of failure to make a great, but not terrible game. DmC is nothing close to DMC2 which was wrong direction, but good ideas like weapon switching, a prototype Trickster, and it was the game that introduced the "standard" DMC control scheme.

If Capcom hired NT to make a DMC-esque game, I bet "DmC" wouldn't have received that much backlash. The title could even have "DmC" as if saying it was inspired by DMC, but is its own game and it wouldn't have received the kind of backlash. We'll probably never see the DmC NT intended to create with the psychological torture "Dante" felt; we got conveniently amnesiac Dante in DmC instead. Still, maybe there will be a collaboration in the future with a game based on DMC, but everything else was free reign under NT.

^Is this official info?

FFXII is simply an all around better game than FFXIII lol.

The NDirect was disappointing imo.
Being forced to pay for both Starfox games if you want a physical copy (and my wii u doesn't have room to download) is a d*** move. With that said SFZero looks good.
No strong feelings about Splatoon and IDC about the M&S Olympic series.
Mario Maker looks pretty cool; I might buy it after all.
I actually think the new Paper Mario might be good. It's too early to judge it as a Sticker Star clone anyway.
IDC about Pokken or TP HD.
Pocket Card Jockey, wow way to make a worse Solitaire game than the one that came free on my PC.
The FE crossover by Atlas looks annoying AF. Not my style AT ALL.
Metroid Prime FF, I wouldn't mind this if there was an actual Metroid game between it and Other M. Bobble heads, really? Even MP Hunters had the realistic sci-fi feel the series is know for. Everyone will tell you the first Metroid Prime was a fantastic game we want more of so stop jerking us around Nintendo!

The rest are either 3DS, which I don't own or I simply don't care enough to comment on.

PS no Wii U LoZ info? :glare:
