And how is this worse than if you were to play someone like

? Nobody,
not a single character in the game, wants to be above their opponent. Some characters have burst movement such as Bouncing Fish, Flip Jump, or Monkey Flip to help them escape the situation, and that's why they're top tiers. For everyone else, you have to figure out how to land past disjointed anti-airs, and that is pretty much universally "challenge it with something risky or throw them off with weaving and b-reverses" unless you're a puffball with multiple jumps

"Zelda's landing options suck" is probably true as a general statement, but relative to the cast I can think of worse characters to be.
Ganondorf's run speed > Yoshi's air speed, for what that's worth.
I'm okay with calling a bad character bad, I'm not okay with acting like she's uniquely horrible at landing when she has more options than characters more viable than her.
Actually, I'm pretty sure out of all the characters you listed there they probably have an easier time landing and getting back into safe territory than Zelda does, haha. That could just be me!
If your argument is "Zelda's landing options aren't as bad as other characters" and you're okay with acknowledging her short comings as a whole, I don't really understand why it's so important to make this distinction on "uniquely bad" and "bad" when... they're both bad and it doesn't really change her overall standing?
In fact, the person you were originally responding to (Rickster) didn't even say it was "uniquely bad". He just said it was one of her greatest weaknesses, which is not the same thing:
- terrible landing options all around. Perhaps one of her biggest weaknesses
That's all I can think of for now. To me, her lack of landing options and inability to deal with hyper defensive playstyles are her biggest flaws.
I think you may have misunderstood his argument? Haha.
Honestly, I literally only play Zelda when I play Smash. She's just a character I've gotten attached to ever since I started playing her in the Melee days. I really don't feel right playing any other character than her (though upcoming Cloud is someone I'm predicting I'm gonna enjoy playing, if only because I am a huge Final Fantasy fan).
I really understand when people want to make arguments for her viability because I do my best to make her work in whatever match I'm in. But just kind of blindly saying "she can do this and that as an option" without a giving it a scrutinizing eye seems like a big oversight to me?
As frustrating as it is to be met with harsh skepticism, it's almost more infuriating when you're met with overwhelmingly misplaced optimism in this regard because you're trying to give us solutions that... really aren't solid solutions.
This is just based on my observation, please tell me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you don't even play Zelda? Haha, or did you used to but you moved onto Rosalina? I'm a bit confused.
In conclusion, let's not get caught up silly, shallow semantics and let's discuss real solutions and analysis. Not just ideals, best-situations and/or throw out answers with no evidence or application or experience to back these claims up!
Sigh!
God, I need to play some Smash now. Jeez. Out of the way ladies!
