the localization of Metal Gear on the NES is one of the most glorious trainwrecks ever but it also led to Snake's Revenge and it made the NES Metal Gear games THEIR OWN TIMELINE (AU, if you will). It also featured the best Solid Snake ever, who is described as, from the Snake's Revenge instruction booklet itself....

Big DOA fan here, hello. The DOA Xtreme games are... Yeah, just fan service. The DOA community (the competitive one at least) doesn't quite care for the sexualization of the females, it's just a cash-in, and oddly enough people missed it so much that there was a cry from fans to make another. It's just one of those things that makes DOA, DOA... That being half naked women that are well endowed. Actually, the normal DOA girl outfits aren't too bad, it's usually the alternate costumes/DLC that can get a little too spicy. The gameplay is essentially almost a dating sim of sorts, but not...
You choose a girl to play as, play mini games, earn cash to spend on swim suits and gifts you can give to other girls to form friendships. I wonder what goes through the straight male's mind (or lesbian) as they play that... They probably are just there for the eye candy. It seems like a game younger girls would enjoy too, yet at the same time it's uber sexualized in every way. I don't really know about those games to be honest, other than the fact it's a way to make money off of the sexualization of women.

At least they're all 18, right.

I'll be honest. I played DoA Xtreme when I was younger on the original XBOX. I thought it was actually rather boring to be honest. :V (That and DoA Dimensions were the only DoA games I actually played.)

I think it speaks more to how ****ing smart they are. I think it's 1/4 the west but 3/4 making a mostly irrelevant game very relevant by sparking controversy and creating a market that's buying it for very different reasons. KA just made some big import do$h methinks.

I'm not sure how changing a native american outfit to a cowboy outfit is supposed to be better.

From what I understand about this game, these are not characters; they are character classes that the player can change at-will. That means you can change from being a "Tomahawk" to being a pirate or a knight. Native Americans' culture shouldn't be used as a costume for aesthetic purposes in a video game. If a game wants to create a Native American character, they should thoughtfully and respectfully give that character background and understand the culture they're borrowing from.

It's sad that we'll complain about the removal of a Native American costume while we're perfectly content remaining blissfully ignorant of many of the issues facing Native Americans and their nations today. States are still stealing land! I read an article that said one tribe in the Southern United States was asking the state for help to slow/stop the erosion of their land due to a bog that was sinking it. The state just ignored it because all the land that was swallowed by the bog became land of the state.

Native Americans are one of the most likely groups to end up in foster care, and they have very high alcoholism rates. Native women are often abused by men from outside the tribes and have trouble getting justice from the US criminal justice system. In Canada there's a highway where large amounts of Native women go missing, and the Canadian government has done little about it.

We only want to think about them when we can use their culture to make an enjoyable movie, book, or video game, but we can't be bothered to care when their people are facing real problems. I don't blame them for finding that offensive.

I hate all this talk of "giving in" to "Social Justice Warriors." Almost every time I hear that (or read it), it's someone complaining about an issue that negatively affects real communities. Sorry you (not you specifically - I'm speaking generally) thought this costume looked cool and you wanted to use it, but if the only time you're upset about issues concerning Native Americans is when there's been a change in a video game you want to play, you need to rethink your outlook on life.
