It'd be hilarious if Ryu Hayabusa also got into Smash 4. I mean, we have('d) Link, Toon Link, Dr. Mario, Roy, Roy Koopa, Ryu, and Ryu Hayabusa. Oh, and Green Mario and Yellow Mario too. Then we'd need Toon Ganondorf, Toon Zelda, Toon Sheik - dear, Nayru, imagine the monstrosity of that -, Young Link, Wolf Link, Zelda Wii U Link, Dry Bowser, Tanooki Bowser, Big Mac, Nurse Peach, Cat Peach, Pink Gold Peach, and Purple Mario.
tbh I kinda want Roy to be bad for Fire Emblem tier
I could actually see that happening. Here's the thing: fast fall speed, low jump, and his recovery appears to be limited to Blazer while Ike has Quickdraw, Marth/Lucina have charged Shield Breaker, and Robin can at least throw something out to cover. Roy backs up everything with fast air speed, fast ground speed, and what seems to be fast attacks for a swordsman, but his range seems a bit shorter because of how he swings his sword compared to Link who makes sweeping cuts and thrusts, the Pits leaning into their attacks, Marth and Lucina using regular strikes, and Ike and Shulk's sheer range. Roy is kind of the Meta Knight of the sword users while being the Ike in air speed, Marth in ground speed, and Link in fall speed.
At the same time, Wolf's recovery was spotty because of ledge sweet-spot issues, he was a fast faller, his air speed was incredible, and he jumped low. Ground speed was meh, but in a way Roy and Wolf would be a bit similar. Both had range for melee fighters and attacked fairly quickly with strong hits. Difference: Roy's got a sword that needs to centered hits for power while Wolf's fighting with his claws and legs and doing consistent damage for the most part. Then there's the issue of auto-canceling. Roy's Fair apparently auto-cancels from what people have seen - yay, Ike Fair -, but that's just one move we know.
Roy could be like Little Mac, Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, etc. where so long as he doesn't leave the stage involuntarily, he's fine and a danger.
