It's the most suitable replacement I can think of for the Boomerang anyway. Even the actual beam looks like a Boomerang. :p

Beam launch? Yeah, I would like to see that as a kind of move. Perhaps an inverse Lucario-like effect, since making it entirely gone after one percent loss is kind of unfair, but it being at it's peak at low percentages and weakening as you get hit more is nice.

In Skyward Sword you can charge this beam at any time you like. Also, your idea fails when fighting Fox. pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpew :foxbrawl:

Eh, I still would like to reference the ability to use it only at full hearts most games have. That may be how Skyward Sword does it, but still. If it does get in, I'd prefer it replace his standard B though, his Side-B being Bows. Or some such. Mostly since Kirby getting a Sword Beam is important to me. :p

Side B as the Bow is a bit difficult though. And I'd want him to keep the Bow at all cost. Make it aimable kinda like the Cracker Launcher or Bowser and Charizard's fire breath so it'll become much better. Side B can be Skyward Strike, or Down B.

Perhaps Side-B to be Bombs, Down-B Bow? And I agree, I want him to have the Bow. I just want Kirby to go Sword Beam on enemies. Getting a Bow with the Sword hat always disappointed me.

I suppose the Bow and arrows could work as a side special move where you can also have the ability to aim with them. And then have the sword beam be able to be recharged like how Donkey Kong and Samus do and then he can shoot it out in any direction?

But I don't think that will likely happen since that could likely confuse a good number of Link player's.... Then again, they did move a few neutral special moves to become side specials during the transition between Smash 64 and Melee...

I think they could, but at the same time I think if they were going to do a Link beam they'd have done it by now. I think it'd be a good way to split up Toon Link/Link though if Toon doesn't copy that again.

Similar to how pit can aim his bow, perhaps. Does anyone want to see fire arrows returning?

I actually do not want Link's specials to change completely; I love the Boomerang, (even the Gale) Bow and Arrow, Bombs, Clawshot, etc. All I want is for them to be enhanced, or buffed.
However, if Link is going to indeed get his boomerang replaced, I'd prefer the Beetle or Skyward Strike, though I still want to keep all his other gear from Melee and Brawl.
Also, maybe Toon Link will be Luigi-fied, due to his 'new' game?
I, for the record, despised fire arrows. But that's just me.

The link in Smash 64 was more or less based on OoT Link...BUT also included the Boomerang.

There is no reason to completely change Link's specials because they represent some of the most occurring items throughout the series

This. Again, I wouldn't mind, say, the Skyward Strike, but I absolutely do not want the Boomerang to go.

Well the sword beam can certainly help in differentiating Link and Toon Link some more, that's for certain. I can see it pretty much work like how the boomerang did, only it can't come back to you. saving Link an extra animation.

Maybe give Toon Link the ice arrows instead of fire? I think Ice arrow's could be more useful as in that they can help freeze you're opponent very briefly?

As for Pit's bow and Link's. Yes close, but Link has more freedom to how he can aim his shot's if you get what I mean.

Maybe that's really what this whole "customizable character" thing is going to be about. As in, you can choose to give Link a boomerang or let him use the Skyward Strike instead etc. It should make everyone happy then shouldn't it?

Or, why not change Toon Link's specials, instead giving him the Gust Blower thing from Minish Cap as his up special, forward special as the Whip, Down special as the Mole Mitts, etc.

I like the way Fire Arrows work in Project M, so they could work like that again. I think Ice Arrows would overall be more helpful unless Fire Arrows work like a PK Fire (Ness). And I think between the Skyward Strike and hammer (two other major recurring items) they could make Toon and regular Link unique.

I'm against customizable characters myself.

Yep, I would only want Mii to be custom, but I don't even want Mii, so...
I suppose the Fire Arrows could be like PK Fire, so I'm fine with that.

Well they've got load's of option's. But I doubt Toon Link would be receiving a drastic change like that.

Then how about a way to toggle what type of arrow you want to fire? Or randomized arrow's?

Well we'll see how this whole customizable character thing work's out I suppose. :/

I know Toon Link won't change that quickly, just some ideas.
Eh, I still would prefer basic arrows being the only arrows available, but...

Why? Personally I prefer the idea of other arrows because they may work better as ways to delay the enemy. Light as a ranged Deku Net or some such would be really nice. Random is alright, but only if both Link and Toon get different Arrows.

It's a kind of mental peeve, I guess. I hate it when something in canon is strong, but here it's weak. so thats why. Overall, I would not protest elemental arrows.

@fallkoopa I suppose that's also a possibility yes.

@mirron Well what about Link getting the Bomb Arrow's and Silver arrow's
And Toon Link the Fire Arrow's and Ice Arrow's?

They can both trigger normal arrows though.

So each have three options? I'm fine with that. Just need to be unique. If you can control which you choose I can see the perk in that, but I like random elements myself. Olimar is so good to me because of that.

Eh, the power level is all over the place, and how individual things match up is hard to say. *shrugs* I like SSB for being the silly place it is, trying to pay special attention to canon would be silly, especially since who would beat who isn't regularly apparent in the majority of matchups.

True.
Besides, if we went by canon power, Samus and Ganondorf would be unbeatable.

Meanwhile in the future, Jigglypuff is defeating Samus, Ganondorf, and Palutena all at once.

Full charged arrow from Toon Link should be Fire and Ice elemental yeah.

And I'll be honest, I don't like Smash canon much either. Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Samus and Ness shouldn't be kicked around so easily.

Especially not by Fox, Falco, Peach, Jigglypuff and Sheik... :smirk:

Funny how, acording to canon, the strongest are mid-low tier (Samus, Ganon, Ness) and the weaker people (Olimar, Jiggz in Melee, etc.) are high-top tier.

I'll just abstain from participating in canon battles, since I think my thoughts on it are vastly different. Kind of detracting from the original point anyways.

I think Bomb Arrows as a PK Fire (Lucas) like effect is best. Silver Arrow as a ranged Deku Nut (less stun though) is good. Silver is probably the rarer of the two.

Yep, back on topic, I actually like the idea of Deku Nuts randomly shooting out. Perhaps they would be rarer then Silver arrows? (Like Peach's Bomb-ombs?)

Impa should have Deku Nuts. What's your opinion of her?
