Have heard almost all of these before, good taste.
You should check out all of DJ Shadow, Bjork, and The Cure's stuff if you haven't.

Particularly the albums Endtroducing, Homogenic/Debut/Post/Vespertine, and Disintregation/Pornography.

Can you edit these videos to just a hyperlink?
I wanna view this thread later but it lags my computer to an insane level.

I can barely define my top one hundred favorite albums as is, but I'll take a stab at my top ten favorite songs for my mood right now.. I guess.

10. Radiohead - Let Down
9. Kayo Dot - The Manifold Curiosity
8. Charles Mingus - Track B: Duet Solo Dancers
7. Kashiwa Daisuke - Stella
6. Women - China Steps
5. Animal Collective - La Rapet
4. Unwound - Terminus
3. Mark Hollis - The Gift
2. DjRum - Mountains Pt. 1
1. maudlin of the Well - Secret Song
0. Talk Talk - New Grass

Also, just judging your taste that you've shown me.. I absolutely have to recommend you Kate Bush's - Hounds of Love. I discovered it through a friend of mine like a good two months ago and it's a complete masterpiece. Breaks so many barriers and concepts of music that people around her time didn't even know existed.

I guess these would be them. It's actually pretty hard to pick single "favorites", since I like pretty much all work from some of these artists listed.

Seeing as that the internet I'm on right now isn't stable enough to load youtube videos, I can't click anyone's links unfortunately, but I should be able to link some of these (note that not all of them are on youtube. I also can't watch the videos to check quality but yeah, should be fine.)

My tastes change from time to time obviously, but as of now it's...

1. Paid in Full - Sonata Arctica
2. Seasons - Dragonforce
3. Fallen World - Dragonforce
4. Inventory - Travis Ratledge
5. The Last Amazing Grays - Sonata Arctica
6. Cruelty OST - FoxAmoore (I'm not linking this one because of the comic it's for and some of the ads on the site)
7. Dark City - Machinae Supremacy
8. Long Comes The Night - Silent Call
9. Subdivisions - Rush
10. The Memory Of Trees - Enya

My reasonings for each:

1. Paid in Full is just a really addicting and catchy song IMO, and really fun to play on both keyboards and bass, and to sing, and I love what the song is about.

2. Seasons caught me off-guard when I listened to the new Dragonforce album because it's actually a mid-tempo song, which is unusual for them to do, and they did it amazingly well. I love how the song is simple and catchy and easy to follow along with, yet complex at the same time (Both the bass and Sam's Guitar in the chorus are marvelous). It's also one of their few songs where I actually like their lyrics because they're singing about something rather than putting in random words (It's a song about getting over a breakup).

3. Fallen World is a song I like because it's just so fun to sing, and I love the mixing job as well as all of the backing vocals in it (Especially the subtle growling backing vocals, which I normally hate, but it works well in this song). I also feel like it showcases their new singer's voice very well. There's also the fact that unlike Dragonforce's old albums, they didn't pack their songs on this album with tons and tons of guitar solos that get old.

4. Inventory is probably not a song people would expect me to list in my top ten considering that my top three songs were all metal, but I love the simple guitar and keyboards and calmness of the song, and I love the singer's voice. I usually tend to like songs with just guitar and piano though. I also love the lyrics, and the "ooh"s during the chorus.

5. The Last Amazing Grays is my favorite song overall as far as time has gone, though I've been over-listening to it lately. It's fun to play on bass, though the bass is really simple for it. I like the piano thrown in, and I love the lyrics (plus it's a song using a wolf metaphor, which works well for me).

6. Cruelty OST... well, it's a song that someone wrote for a comic, though in my opinion it doesn't fit the comic at all. While the comic was pretty dark, the song is very light and VERY calming. It has piano, guitar, and some orchestral sounds in it. It's very movie soundtrack-ish.

7. Dark City is one of the main songs that got me in to Machinae Supremacy, and I liked it a lot for a while, then grew tired of it. Later, I watched someone on youtube play a guitar cover of it and I fell in love with the song again. I usually don't pay much attention to electric guitar in songs, but I realized how good the guitars to this song were, and they're the main thing I pay attention to in the song now.

8. Long Comes The Night is, well I'd actually call it average as far as the band Silent Call goes, and yet I still like it a LOT. Usually when I like a song, it's because there's something that stands out about the song for me, but this song is just good all around in my opinion.

9. Subdivisions is one of the songs that got me into liking music, period. I've liked this song since I was... three or four years old? Back then I obviously didn't understand much about music, I just knew that I loved how it sounded. Now that I have a much better knowledge of music and understanding of it, things such as the odd time signatures in the beginning make me love the song even more.

10. The Memory Of Trees is a song that I like mainly because of the memories I have attached to it. Basically, when I was younger, my mom and I used to work on jigsaw puzzles (usually 500-2000 pieces) and she'd put either one of two Enya CDs in, and this was the first song on one of them. So when I listen to it now, I get very relaxed.

Edit: Part of the reason why I have some of the songs listed that I do is because of the fact that I've been using terrible internet for over 3 months so I have no way of listening to any new music, I can only listen to what I have on my laptop.

A Tribe Called Quest-Check the Rhime
Because...it's A Tribe Called Quest, dammit!

Slipknot-People=****
Pretty much my theme song for life.

Florence and the Machine-Take Care
Because sometimes Falcon likes to cry himself to sleep to something other than Linkin Park.

Metroid Metal-Sector 1
I remember when that game Alien Swarm came out, you could switch out the "stuff's happening" music with a custom track. Put this in and totally forgot about it. Then stuff happened and I was all AAAWWWW YEEEEEAAAAAAA.

Beastie Boys-Root Down live
I love Beastie Boys with a passion.

Chopin-Raindrops Prelude
Because Halo 3 marketing says so.

Zelda Anniversary-The Wind Waker Symphonic Movement
Made buying Skyward Sword worth it.

De La Soul-Oodles of O's
Also Ego Trippin. De La Soul is legit. Old rap is legit.

Breaking Benjamin-Polyamorous

One of my all time faves.

Ko Otani-Shadow of the Colossus Prologue
The game's ost touches my heart in a way I really don't think anything else does.

Blue - Eiffel 65: Too much nostalgia wrapped up in one song. Catchy as hell regardless, but basically when this plays, images of Pokémon, Baby Aliens, yo-yos, you know that era, they all flash in my mind. Great stuff.

Burn it All - A Dark Halo: Steps outside my usual boundaries since I generally dislike Metal with unmelodious screaming, but this song is a great fusion of so many different musical styles and ideas, incoporating the aggression of Metal to really add imapct. ADH is my favourite band, and I'm not even big on their genre. Ha.

Final Hour - Koji Kondo (Majora's Mask OST): Tbqh, I could fill up this entire list with Majora's Mask compositions alone. Technically not a song but **** it I've never liked songs that much anyway. A piece that manages to be haunting, depressing, heart wrenching, beautiful, melancholy, serene, mysterious, ominous and about a million other different moods all mixed up in one. It is for me what makes great music so complete. We often feel a rush of different emotions when reacting to situations, we have those intangible feelings, that complex mesh of emotions that we just can't put into words. That is what this piece is, and also what I feel sets first rate compositions apart from average ones. In the context of the game, there are several moments when one ends up having to hear it as part of the story, and when it strikes it just sets an incredible mood. Not enough superlatives for this piece. Decided to add the version with the bell tolling because I feel that just adds an atmsophere to it, but still truly beautiful without. I'm just a sucker for bells and chimes. Hornourable mention could go to all the great tracks like Song of Healing, Stone Tower Temple etc, but I feel the great number of dimensions to this piece and its incredible beauty despite technically being extremely dissonant in tone makes it truly shine above all others.

So Cold
- Breaking Benjamin: BB have a lot of great songs, Burnley has a really powerful voice that can achieve a lot of different effects other singers wish they could. He can bring out power without resorting to screaming and shouting, he can sing softly to great effect, and of course, can shout and scream just fine. So Cold to me is one of BB's most moving songs, I dunno why, I suppose because it's sort of abstract in its choice of lyrics. They paint some sort of picture but really it can be interpreted in many ways. I like that, Generally stuff that's sort of spoonfed like "oh girl I luv u come bak 2 ma crib yeayeayeaaaaaaa dis b mo***** Usherrrrrrr ohohohhhhhh ma heart be in so much pain gurl". Multidimensional, I think that's sort of a general theme in the music I like, ambiguous.

Nocturne in C Minor Op 48. No.1 - Frédéric Chopin: Again not a song but **** it people usually mean music in general when they use the word song. Tbh I'm gonna end up putting down a bunch of these, but yeah this is imo the greatest of his nocturnes. My opinion doesn't mean much, and really it's not like you can objectively judge these things, but this piece is just so perfectly structured in whatever it is trying to portray. The way it builds and builds before completely exploding into a dramatic climax (yeah yeah make your jokes), then not quite settling down where others might just sort of say "oh we've had that big part time to calm down", is so brilliant. Just like if you have an enormous emotional outpouring/outburst, you don't just sit down all like "wow I'm all chilled out now", your hands and entire body still tremble and your breathing is more rapid and shallow, you have intermittent residual peaks and troughs of emotion before you finally cool off. This is what I get from this piece, there is something about the way Chopin writes his music that I find immediately relatable and get drawn in. Ohter composers I can respect but never really be moved by, but Chopin always moves me.

Nocturne in B Flat Minor Op. 9 No. 1 - Frédéric Chopin: Yay for his first published nocturne (not his first actual nocturne mind you). I can personall play this piece which makes me appreciate it infinitely more. To many the middle section may seem to drag on too long and be kinda boring, which I suppose for a listener may be true, but when you're playing it you connect with the notes and it doesn't feel like it drags on at all. I suppose what makes it difficult to listen to for some is how incredibly melodious the first section/main theme is, it's so beautiful that most will juts sit through the middle section twiddling their thumbs thinking "man when the **** is the main theme coming back?" In any case, the middle theme is very mesmerising and you just need to immerse yourself in the current notes and not be thinking ahead in anticipation.

Nocturne in E Minor Op 72 (Posthumous)
- Frédéric Chopin: Oh this guy again? Yes, more and more of this. There is no such thing as too much Chopin. The only criticism I have of Chopin is that he died too young and didn't share enough of his astounding brilliance with the world. It's funny apparently this is supposedly one of his earliest goes at the Nocturne form, yet somehow he felt it unworthy of publication. Funny I actually feel it's stronger than a good number of his published works. I can't really describe what makes this piece so powerful but there is just so much weight to it. The transitional passages are exceptionally well done, fluid transitions between sections is something I truly admire in a piece of music. It's not all that hard to come up with a great musical idea, but to add contrasting or additional themes and mesh them with your main musical thought is imo the most brain melting part of composition. So yeah stuff stuff Chopin is better than you at everything.

Nocturne in D Flat Major Op 27 No. 2
-
Frédéric Chopin: I promise it's the last nocturne I'm gonna list! Hey have you ever wondered whether you're in love or have ever been in love? If you feel/felt like what this piece feels like, then the answer is yes! Also I could tie to to intense nostalgia as well, or soaring through a world of dreams. Again that's my view and you could see something completely different in it. In any case, I feel that's more than enough said.

Piano Concerto Op 21 Mov 2 (Larghetto)
- Frédéric Chopin: Last Chopin! A lot like above, but a lot more dreamlike imo, and probably my favourite of Chopin's works. The other two movements of the concerto are nice and all, but I dunno, this particular movement is just... something else. This is played on a period instrument (basically that's a lot like the sort of piano Chopin himself would have played), and I actually prefer that sound to the general modern grand pianos when it comes to this piece. Suppose it's because most concert halls and recordings are done on American Steinways, with all those overtones and incredible power, I just feel that those pianos don't lend themselves well to this piece. Only advantage I suppose it does have is its considerably longer note decay time.

Piano Sonata No. 8 "Grande Sonata Pathétique" - Ludwig van Beethoven: Only linked the 1st movement but I'm talking about the piece as a whole. Furious, powerful, and so full of obstinacy and desperation. Just awesome, also probably one of his most entertaning of sonatas, you don't have to think too hard to enjoy it but that doesn't make it any less deep, just very accessible.

Honourable mentions since I seem to have hit ten even though this is in no particular order and I could keep going.

Piano Sonatas 14 and 23 "Moonlight" (ugh) and "Appassionata respectively - Ludwig van Beethoven: Basically one thing to consider with these names and why they are in inverted commas is because they were not given by the composer, although the names Pathétique and Appassionata were suggested by publishers during Beethoven's life, and he seemed to like or at the very least have zero objections to the name (although considering how stubborn and fiery he was, he probably would have burned the publishing house down if he didn't like the names). The point was that these weren't necessarily names the composer had in mind when writing the pieces, and this was because the idea of differing interpretation was so important to the composers. However, the name "Moonlight" wasn't even given during Beethoven's life and only comes from some dude sitting on a lake during a moonlit night going "wow this reminds me of the first movement of Sonata 14", and it just sort of stuck. Of course sadly many people don't even realise that the sonata consists of three movements, and so don't realise how contextually wrong that name would be. The only way it would be right is if the sonata were played leading up to and during the crashing of the moon during Majora's Mask, just listen to the third movement and you'll see the point. In any case, it's still a great piece, but I dunno I feel it's admired so incorrectly. Hilariously enough the first movement was so popular even during Beethoven's day, that it pissed him off to the point of making the remark "surely I've written better things!". He has! Also Appassionata will draw you in from the first damn note. I don't even need to explain.

Stuff and stuff I'll shut up now.

Today I discovered that Jam Stunna has possibly the most similar music taste to mine that I've ever seen, and game/anime taste too I guess.

And that Teran likes Chopin a lot. I like Chopin too. Maybe we can be friends.

Hmm let's see here...

1) Blush - Up, Up, and Away
I couldn't find a Youtube video that wasn't taken down do to stupid copyright -.-
Loved this song since it came out about last year, still not old :D
It's fun, and the chorus is the best part, love the synths in the background and their harmony goes really well in this song.

2) Bridgit Mendler - Ready or Not
A nice change of pace from the usual mainstream dance music out there. Really good for a Disney star.

3) Lights - Suspension
A weird electropop/dubstep song, pretty catchy.
Fell in love with her music a couple months ago, it's really neat and she has some pretty good songs.

4) Madonna - Girl Gone Wild
Very catchy :p
Fun to dance to, lyrics are a little generic but w/e lol.

5) Madonna - Girl Gone Wild (Avicii Remix)
Even more Catchy O.o
AMZING REMIX. The bass drop is just fantastic and I could press repeat all day.

6) Demi Lovato - Unbroken
Catchy, fun dance song. Actually have this in SSBB on Final Destination lol.

7) Miley Cyrus - Who Owns My Heart
This song is surprisingly good. Extremely catchy, and have listened to it almost everyday since it came out in 2010, lol.

8) Muse - Uprising
It's Muse.
Lol I love the spacerock here, the conspiracy lyrics etc. :p

9) Ke$ha - Die Young
She always has a catchy single, and this isn't any different. Lyrics are a little underwhelming though =/

10) Jennifer Lopez - Dance Again (Solo Version)
Loved this song the first time I heard it. Very catchy, and there's no Pitbull here :D

music/art is one of the only things I'm interested in talking about. these are my favs at the moment, kinda jivied around to include only songs that are available on youtube or some other easy listening format:

1. Rolo Tomassi - "Howl" is the perfect opener to my favorite album of the year, from my favorite band. Opens with a haunting but invitingly mysterious circular synthline as booming tension is built up more and more and more until everything explodes and the vocals come in. Then we hear the band's signature insane chaotic mathcore stylings. The whole song just hits perfectly for me at 2:39 when the intro synthline burst back into the song with a full band accompaniment.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yk32SPjXzpQ

2. Flying Lotus "Hunger" brought actual tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. It's a slow burn, but the emotional awkwardness of the first half of the song is rewarded tenfold when Niki Randa sings "I've hungered for you for far too long to stop now" and then the music changes...the gloomy heaviness is lifted and a glorious choir fades in with one of the most achingly pretty chord progressions I've ever heard...and under all this is a frenetic slinking bassline that gives me shivers. It's perfection and I'm always sad when it's over.

http://soundcloud.com/slashmaster/flying-lotus-hunger

3. Crystal Castles "Sad Eyes" is I suppose a typical Crystal Castles song, but it's just so fantastic and dreamy that I can't help but be taken away. This song has a tremendous melody that is enhanced by the large amount of vocal modulation and processing effects. These effects make it nearly impossible to discern the lyricism of the song, but that in itself is more expressive to me than hearing a pitch perfect clear voice enunciating every word perfectly.

http://youtu.be/UuMkILY0s_Q

4. MONO and World's End Girlfriend's "Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain Part 03" is a perfect song. It is an instrumental post-rock song. I've listened to this song more than any other this whole year, which is notable because this song is 17 minutes long. That's all I will say.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0J10jXbNSc

5. Between the Buried and Me "Silent Flight Parliament" is another long track, clocking it at 15+ minutes. It's one of the greatest achievements this band has ever done, and I probably consider BTBAM to be THE greatest band working today. If you have an open mind and are willing to experience many different genres at once check this song and album out.

http://youtu.be/8IrkC32OCck

6. Kanye West "Say You Will" is the best song from one of the most underrated rnb albums of all time. The production and lyrics on this song give me chills and are intensely, intensely relatable for me personally. This song is ice cold.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfrenkSar8Y

7. Gillian Carter "Dialogue" is the greatest screamo song (real screamo) written in the past 10 years.

http://gilliancarter.bandcamp.com/track/dialogue

8. Lantlos "Coma" is an intensely sensitive and emotional black post-metal song. I implore everyone to give this song a chance. It is not typical black metal at all and it's hard to compare this band to anyone else. It's more about atmosphere and mournful melodies than brutality.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz735HTbs8E

9. Rilo Kiley "Hail to Whatever You Found in the Sunlight That Surrounds You" a somewhat atypical song from this band as it's not lyric-centric like much of their work is. It's haunting, passionate and mantra-like in its lyricism and its ghostly picked chord progression. Catchy but intensely emotionally resonant. One of my favorite bands of the 2000s. Jenny Lewis is an absolute genius.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbfmwKM2zFg

10. HORSE the band "The Failure of All Things" might not be my all time favorite song by this band (which is my favorite band of all time) but it's the one that I can relate to the most at this point in my life. It's basically about getting out of control, destroying things and hurting people and the despair you feel when you come back to your senses. I've been souring a lot of relationships because of alcohol and other things lately and this song just hits me hard. Also, the buildup at 3:31 that is underlined with the repeated chant of "i'm certain that the cats are still hungry" and then eventually exploding into one of the most brutally syncopated breakdowns ever...man, it's just perfect.

Have you seen this? It almost brought tears to my eyes. The meaning (well, what I got from the film anyways) is so profound and beautiful to me and FlyLo's music makes it really awesome.

A couple of my favourites:

Chopin: Op. 64 no. 1 - 'The Minute Waltz': A long time favourite of mine, I always wished to learn it on the piano for the fun of it. Not a favourite favourite but one i'd be happy to listen to if it came on the radio, etc.

Pathetique pt. II: Sorry, this could actually be called 2nd movement, i'm not entirely sure (I looked in Teran's pathetique for this part of it but couldn't find). Anyway, this is beautiful. It weeps emotion and if i'm not mistaken, a version of this was played on Crystal (or Krystal) night. It was the night that signified the end for many Jews in Western Europe in the Holocaust. The Orchestra playing it were Jewish and knew that they couldn't get out of the country in time, thus they still played the piece that night, knowing it was likely their last time playing music in an Orchestra. The version they composed has very few records but my family does have one of them and while I haven't listened to the exact piece i've been told that it's one of the best versions ever done.

Basically this piece carries with it a lot of meaning for me.

Moonlight Sonata: A piece that I learnt a lot of on the piano by ear. Again, a beautiful piece that I find invokes images in my head, often the classic lake turned silver by the moon but sometimes other images.

On to other types of music:

Mumford & Sons: Little Lion Man: An incredible song that makes me think of the wild savannah every time (don't kill me for saying that just because of the title - the rhythm of the song and the way it's depicted also contribute to that!).

Jason Mraz: Lucky: A great duet. I don't know what else to say about it.

Trivium: The end of everything (+ Rain): The end of everything is stunning. Done by a metal band, it leads in to Rain which is by all standards a full on metal tune but the two do fit together. The end of everything is a truly amazing piano piece which, added to the increasingly climactic choir voices with it just make this beautiful piece. Can't recommend it highly enough. As a special mention, a similar piece which I enjoy, which is like this piece is No dreams breed in breathless sleep by dissection which is also melodic and beautiful in a darker sense. It's also something that you'd expect to hear in Game of Thrones, which is kind of cool haha.

To OSTs:

Final Fantasy V: Dear Friends: This piece is particularly suited for remembering old times and past friendships, in fact it entirely suits an online game I play known as Oberin for it's unique-ness and incredible community (I mean, Smash has a fine community but honestly, i've never met such an incredible group of people playing Oberin. It's lifespan probably isn't very long now because Lion can't support it and the way around that has peroblems associated with it. However, it will always be a game i remember and treasure). It's original version is the best and it's a rather beautiful tune to listen to. In the game itself, it is played after the final battle when [I think it's] the protagonist (or possibly a secondary character) reflects on what happened to the four characters in the years following the final battle.

Chrono Trigger: Boss battle 2 (The battle at hand!): I was thinking of putting up another FF piece but come to think of it, a lot of Chrono Trigger's tracks are really, really good. It's a piece used when you fight a significant and important boss and they're usually extremely difficult (gah mr. T-rex!). The music suits the epicness of the battle and is really fun to listen to when fighting them.

My final two come from the same game, one is longastanding, the other new. These are my top two:

Terranigma: Sadness (remastered by kitara): The actual piece from the game was okay, not one of my favourites but decent from the awe-inspiring soundtrack from this game. This remastered version of it rockets it up to number two though. It's taken up to the next level and puts a ton of emotion in to it that is magnified if you've played the game (which is my favourite game of all time). Really beautiful and also rather sad, though inspiring and almost happy at the same time. it's hard to capture the true feel of the song. It's worth listening, though.

And my final, all time favourite is:

Terranigma: A hero's final day: It may seem fitting that my favourite song comes from my favourite game. This piece is fraught with emotion and it made me cry at the end of Terranigma, one of the few games that has left me crying by the end. However, it's also the beginning of something new.

I can't say more about this piece without becoming emotional haha. Playing the game is my preferred method of being introduced to this piece but if you're not going to play the game then listening to it this way is fine. ^^

So there's a top ten for you. I hope you enjoy!

Some of you guys have pretty good taste in popular classical.
Sonata 7 is forever Mozart's best from the Moonlight Sonatas though hehehe.

I don't usually categorize most classical pieces as songs, but since there's a precedent for that in this thread, I'll go ahead. I'll restrict myself to at most one piece per composer for the sake of keeping this short and relatively easy.

Piano Sonata No.32- One of my favorite Beethoven compositions. I love his late piano sonatas in general.

Erwartung- An early atonal piece before Schönberg came up with his dodecaphonic method. Very eery and atmospheric.

Symphony No. 9- One of Mahler's last works and one of my favorite symphonies ever.

Quartet for the End of Time- An eery work from Messiaen with an interesting back-story. A strong contender for my favorite 20th century work.

Concord Sonata- My favorite composition by my favorite American musician.

Désordre- Ligeti is amazing in general and it's hard for me to pick what to go with from him; here's a short piano etude from his later years that's pretty different from the micropolyphonic style he became famous for earlier on.

Trois poèmes d'Henri Michaux:
I. Pensées
II. Le Grand Combat
III. Repos dans le Malheur- Probably my second favorite Lutoslawski piece after his famous cello concerto.

Symphony Op. 21- One of Webern's few works. Very interesting music.

Music for 18 Musicians- Reich's most famous piece.

Symphony of Psalms:
I.
II.
III.- A very good Stravinsky piece. I read mixed things about most of the performances of this I found on YT and haven't gotten around to listening to this one yet, so hopefully it's good.

I think I'll leave it at that.

Oliver Messiaen is absolutely phenomenal.

Similarly, I've been in love with Arvo Part for a while now. I heard his piece "Fratres" in There Will Be Blood and once I looked him up I've been hooked ever since.

the aforementioned Fratres, and a fantastic interpretation by Repin and Lugansky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FukUz9z9HkY . the violin line is iconic and pierces the heart.

another favorite of mine is "Silentium" from Tabula Rasa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK-KC2aQpcI

and for a little less depressing, anxious gloominess, the lovely and relaxing "Spiegel im Spiegel" ("mirror in the mirror")http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYypmgIYOVQ

which in turn reminds me of something kind of sort of barely related, World's End Girlfriend's "Der Spiegel im Spiegel im Spiegel" ("the mirror in the mirror in the mirror"), which is utter insanity in audio form http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6zb8YpL5-w

@Illmatic:

Well, he didn't work with Part, exactly. Fratres is an older piece that was just used in the film, separate from Greenwood's work. Also, Convergence was written for another film called Bodysong. The TWBB soundtrack is mostly comprised of previously-written material. Part's "Fratres", the Brahms piece (sorry I can't remember which it is, it's brilliant though), and even much of Greenwood's music is taken from an earlier composition he wrote called "Popcorn Superhet Reciever". Only a small portion of the film's score was specifically written for the film. That's why it couldn't be nominated for any awards.

buuuuut, while I'm on the subject, Greenwood's score for The Master is nearly entirely new and original work and it is a much stronger soundtrack than TWBB imo.

and Greenwood actually did work with another iconic 20th century minimalist composer, Krystof Penderecki. They had a joint concert and put an album recording out with some of Penderecki's well-known works, Greenwood's "Popcorn" and some other new stuff that is direct in response to Penderecki's style.

This thread is amazing!

Here are my stop and listen songs in no particular order:

[COLLAPSE="Songs"]

6.) Angels: Within Temptation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK9qfVQ4Z04

I just found out about this band this summer. I love how the lead singer can hit the high notes in this song. The lyrics in this song are cool to me as well. This is my discover band for 2012. I wish I had known about them over the past 7-10 years.

5.) Square One: Coldplay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRralTaPR9I

The very first note of this song, to the very first song off the X & Y cd gives me instant flashbacks to the summer of 2005. It was the summer going into my Senior year of high school.

4.) Falling Down: Staind - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu3L4AiRbb4

14 Shades of Grey. is my favorite album. It's the only album I listened to in my cd player non-stop for weeks in my life. It came out in May of 2003, but I got it Wednesday, August 6th that year. Falling Down was my favorite song on it, and I always think of how it blew me away the 1st time I heard it at my friend's house. We both craved the album.

3.) No One Cares: Atreyu - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYXLAupRn2c

I purchased this cd on Sunday, December 2nd 2007 at about 1:30 A.M. at my local Meijer's. A big snowstorm hit during the night while I was at work, which is why I remember. While listening to this cd all the way through for the 1st time at about 2:20 A.M. in the morning, I was playing a 99 stock, 3 way CPU free for all. This song was in my head constantly.

2.) Unknown Soldier: Breaking Benjamin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9HoIPCWGsY

This song makes me think about what might go through the mind of a soldier when about to go into battle with the fear of death at hand. Does that soldier know what he/she is truely fighting for? What is the meaning of life? And why do both sides battle each other and what are both truly trying to reach.

1.) Paper Tiger: Treat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFHfCJSbRhI
I just like this song. It takes me back to the summer of 2011 and is something I just like to sing along to. [/COLLAPSE]
