I just played through Awakening (twice, actually), and I gotta say.. before playing this game, I thought Chrom should be included on the Smash 4 roster, but now I really want Lucina.

I literally mixed up Chrom with Ike all the time, even still. I'll be looking in my character list for Ike.. like where the hell is Ike? And then realize that's not his name. They're interchangeable in my mind now, and it got really confusing. I'm still on the Lyn train.. think she'd be a great character in Smash, but Lucina would be a great option too, even if she looks a lot like Marth.

If you need your Ike in Awakening get him from Spotpass's bonus box

Simple way to make Marth and Lucina not look too similar to each other is have Marth given his Shadow Dragon/Heroes of Light and Shadow appearance

That FE13 design for Marth happened to be among the most popular re-designs for all of the lords (in both Japan and the West), and was offered as free DLC for every region. There is a very good chance we will get it.

The reason why the redesign for Marth got positive reception is because it's one of the few designs that's not incredibly stupid. Need I remind you of Tinman Ike and KAWAII UGUU~ Micaiah?

The only "stupid" re-designs were Ike, Micaiah, Eirika, and Cellica. Most of them at least had good or decent re-designs.

Marth's fine though, nothing really changed from his original look, would bet on the FE11/12 myself, however, due to Iwata Sakurai Asks: FE11

Lots of people do, at least for Marth and Roy. Ike may get an entirely new design made exclusively for Smash Bros. considering his re-design was the most infamous of the male lords.

The only bad DLC redesigns for me were Ike, Seliph, Micaiah and Elincia, IMO.

Silly wedding dress aside, Eirika looks well designed from an artistic standpoint. Lyn and Celica could have been better, but they aren't as bad as the above.

The best looking designs for me are Marth, Roy, Ephraim, Alm and Katarina. The pegasus sisters don't look bad either and of the three, Catria has the best design.

I digged Cellica's myself. Eirika's wasn't too bad either (even if the idea itself was out-of-place). Robo-Ike and ScantyCaiah though, everyone agrees they're the worst.

Also for Celice's redesign, I don't get why it gets so much flak though. I guess it's the artist's style, but look at my dang avatar for how it can look very good actually. I really love him in that outfit (and besides it's what Swordmasters wear in FE13 anyway, but his has some extra flair.)

Weird thing is that we're mostly criticizing the way artists have drawn the characters, when to tell you the truth, a lot of the characters wear just tweaked outfits for their respective classes in FE13. It works for most, but not for many. Which is why I dig everyone's outfits except Tellius's Lords.

Also Est's Slasher Smile get that away from me.

Probably the only one who thinks this but, how do those guest artworks hold any significance in the long run of things as well as beat out their original designs? Roy I can understand, however, for getting a somewhat updated design, though I doubt it'd reflect his new mercenary outfit.

And I'm still kinda angry that Hector, Eliwood, and Sigurd didn't get redesigns. Though I imagine Hector would look quite silly in the FE13 General armor...

That regal pretty boy look in his redesign is absolutely stunning. I am truly captivated by Marth's fabulousness.

I don't think they'll use a specific design, but perhaps keeping Smash's own portrayal of Marth...who knows. Appearances is one thing I'm excited about though.

It will interesting to see (assuming the previous FE lords return for it) the designs used for the FE lords in SMT x FE. There is a good chance we will find out in 1.5 months anyway (if SMT x FE is shown).

I think that FE characters in Smash that had DLC redesigns (Marth, Roy, Ike...) could:

1. Have both original game and Awakening costumes.
2. Have an amalgam of both original and Awakening costumes (kind of like Fox, Falco and Wolf whose designs are a mix between SF64's and Command's designs with some extra details thrown in)

That's reasoning for want, I'm trying to reason for practicality, not to put anyone's opinions directly down or anything. Problem is only a few of them look any decent. They each have their own guest artist, and when put together they don't mix well at all, many characters are plain unrecognizable. Plus DLC and whatnot.

Default costumes are the only thing I'm really hammering on here. I'm probably just acting spicy like Hanbanero or cranky like Shortie here, but I do think that it's ridiculous to think that they hold any real significance outside of IS wanting to do something special. They're redesigns, done by guest artists, for optional DLC cameos, to which feature characters that were already available for free via Spotpass.

To restate a previous post I made, I think Marth's a special case because he changed the least out of all the guest interpretations and was the only lord to keep his original character class (more or less). Though I'd still bet on FE11/12 Marth mostly due to the games themselves and Iwata Sakurai Asks: FE11 where he laments over not having the time to put FE11 Marth into Brawl.

Roy is definitely due for an update, but I doubt it would reflect his mercenary outfit (anyone else remember when we first saw it? We didn't even recognize him until it was confirmed on the main site. lol) or become something radical like Brawl Pit. Something like OoT to TP Link or Melee to FE11 Marth.

I am pretty sure most people were able to recognize if for nothing else that he was unveiled in a Nintendo Direct and Iwata referred to him as Roy the moment he was unveiled.

If Micaiah gets in I assume most people would want Radiant Dawn, so that would probably be the one. If they tossed the Awakening one in as an ALT or DLC I could see it.

Ike is most likely going to be Radiant Dawn.

If Lyn or Roy show up then chances are for Awakening forms for them, which would be for the better.

I'll have to disagree. There's something about Est and Catrias' designs that just rubs me the wrong way. Pallas' is the best in my opinion.
