QFT imoLOL I love this kid, his attitude is so good.
Keep us posted, mayne. :D
I play a semi-decent peach sometimes, I'll try to record and upload some matches. Maybe you'll see something I do that you aren't doing.Lol thanks Shiri! I will for suure.
I've decided that I was just made to play yoshi. He's just my style and I like him the best...I cant believe I used to play sheik...ugh. Yoshi is of a better constitution than any top tier.
Yoshi=ULLLLTIMATE CHARACTER (vs. spacies)
Update- Got to play a friend who's spacies had previously walked all over my yoshi...this time it was the other way around. my Yoshi won 70% of the matches. His marth however still gives me trouble... I guess thats why i also play sheik...heh. And then there's that thing they call Peach... Idk how Yoshi can ever win that fight. I didnt get to do the mu very much. I didnt try too much egg spam. when i did it seemed to work...as long as i hit her. that nair is broken.
<3 shiriI've been playing Yoshi in Melee versus some kids who are more or less around my level (I think).
After almost a decade, I am still amazed at how lopsided this game gets at levels much higher than my own.
I can go even and scrape out wins when I play mostly flawlessly.
I know that even just a few levels above mine, this matchups are so impossible it would make anyone dizzy.
I'm not quite sure what the point of this post was, but if you play people at your level and you're only "decent" or "above average" then Yoshi can still kinda get the job done maybe.
Anything other than that, forget it.
But you all knew that.
Man, this was a completely wasted post; my bad, guys.
I've 3 stocked amsah's fox this weekend, no johns shiri xDI've been playing Yoshi in Melee versus some kids who are more or less around my level (I think).

what aboutI'm probably the only person who thinks Jigglypuff sucks...
...and that there are legitimately broken characters in this game. But oh well.
Anyway, keep Yoshi-ing!
BLOSHI YES
FORWARD TILT AND PIVOTS YES MAN GET EM
Don't get me started on how terribly campy Yoshi vs. Puff is. I mean, it's easy until puff realizes you can usmash through everything, then she just hangs back and breaks your eggs with her aerials, waiting for you to mess up. I played one at SMYM and barely won, but the timer was at 20 seconds, no joke.Sorry but how do you fight puff other than massive camping? I think I did good the last time I dealed with puff. But only because pichu has to master the art of slipping in and I would duck under tha bairs and wd under up-smash and trick puff into doing what i want like i would start jumping above her she would follow me up and i would up-B below her and start hitting her. but if you stop and think puff has like 5 good moves. bair/fair/up-tilt/rest/grab
Amen shiri. I totally agree. I think that's the only reason why this thread is chugging along, and why melee in general is still thriving. Because we always want to improve in some way. It's not so hard to be hopeful as Yoshi for a few reasons.
1] You only really play him if you like the character or the mechanics. Either case requires moderate to extreme dedication and means you're likely to view situations regarding the character in a positive light.
2] You can't practice Yoshi for serious and suck at him. Likewise, you can't just pick Yoshi for fun and be amazing with him. Being bad with Yoshi when you play him more likely means you're a bad player in general. Being good (or not-bad) with Yoshi means you're good at the game and with a not-so-great character and with easily one of the most technically demanding characters in the game. Realizing this keeps your head up, knowing that you're doing well for yourself just by means of sheer dedication.
3] Yoshi has gimmicks, just like most characters, but they're practical gimmicks that work. More than gimmicks, he has solid defense, which most characters in this game, even some of the best ones, just do not have. Knowing this allows Yoshi players to realize that there are situations they can allow themselves to enter into without fear of immediately getting *****.
4] Yoshi is one of the few characters that has so many different but acceptable playstyles. There are a few ways to play Fox, two ways to play Falco, one way to play Marth and Falcon, et cetera. With Yoshi, as long as you can do what you're supposed to, it doesn't matter when you do it or how you do it, as long as you don't mess up. This lets Yoshi players be more expressive and be more comfortable with themselves as players, raising confidence in the playstyle and the character.
5] There is always a better way of doing things. You can always supershield more attacks, you can always tighten your DJC combos, and you can always work more pivots or grabs or better spacing into your game. This unlimited ceiling allows players to surpass the technical requirements of the character and reach into the recesses of the game that call on the basic instincts that most classic fighting games seek to draw out of its players.
All these reasons are why it's "easy" to keep the hope alive with Yoshi (yet still, it ain't easy bein' green). These reasons are mostly absent in Brawl, which is why the character is still cool in that game, but the character's community is @$$.
Or you could forget all the reasons and just like to play Yoshi and stuff.
In short, Mind Trick is right. No johns.
**ahemPALcough**
