Pit is not a Marth counter.

Marth wins this match-up 60/40.

Only thing Pit has on Marth is arrows.

Which are annoying, but not deadly.

lol marth wins 60 of 40 matches played? That means he wins 150% of the time! **** this makes marth god tier.

Hey Emblem Lord...how do you get that small Marth icon thing next to your online status? :p Sorry if too many ppl ask you.
I think its in ur profile, you get to choose which char appears there...

But anyways i was wondering if marth can still stop projectiles (pit's arrow specifically) with his sword like in melee

I fought yesterday a wolf that seriously kicked my ***.
After analyzing the fights... i see that marth has a lot of trouble against this guy. His smashes are insanely cheap and his forward smash covers absurd distance. His proyectile is good and a lot of his moves do serious knockback.

No one have had a difficult time against a good wolf?

im yet to fight a good wolf, his foreward smash covers a distance but is pretty slow-easy to counter or dodge.

i have no real problem with his very slow lazer that covers a short distance and cant curve, you might even be able to duck under it(i doubt it, but i will test this theory when i get home today) and if worst comes first, marth's attacks definately take priority over it, and you could always sidestep.

lol have you seen the distance he can cover with just the up B? he can easily fly out of your range, and since marth has no projectiles, it's harder to edge him to death.

TAKE IS RIGHT, HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.

not to mention he can attack out of his up B up until the last frame- there he cant do anything.

so annoying, and for some reason I think he outranges marth ??_??
Pit doesn't outrange Marth, pit's strength against Marth is that he's quicker, and he has one of the fastest reactions in the game.

Pit can't use his up-B again if he's hit in the air, not to mention that it offers him no protection whatsoever.
To say his recovery is from hell is quite the exaggeration. In essence, you have to edgeguard him to death before he does the same to you.
Pit doesnt have to up-b in the air. For you who know how to play Pit, instead of up-bing, you glide onto the stage from your jump, as any great Pit player knows.

Exactly. As a player who likes to pursue off stage, Pit doesn't seem to give me problems.

Wait for a Pit player to use their recovery, fall off stage and hit them once, and then recover back to the stage.

dead pit.
IWAN, read aboves response to their quote.

Haha, Emblem Lord, this guy is just stupid, never-the-less.

And I may not know what I'm talking about, but, for what it's worth, I am the Pit in the video.

There are many more to come with takeurlife2 and myself.

Ok, why am I being blatantly insulted yet again?

I have not insulted anyone in this thread and everything I have said I backed up with logic and evidence.

I'm not saying Pit sucks or that Marth dominates.

I'm saying Marth ahs slight advantage.

If you want my opinion about both characters, I think they are both top tier.

But in this particular match-up of Marth vs Pit, Marth has slight advantage.

That' s all.

How to deal with arrows:

Powersheild dash powersheild dash powersheild x n.

If you get hit, let the next arrow hit you then time a powersheild then. Run up to them real close, they'll probably sidestep/roll/jump or fsmash. Expect their first reaction to be their most common one.

Thank you LK.

I love you.

Also Marth can jab arrows. Just throwing that out there.

While I think Emblem Lord is a douchebag, he's got a point.

Pit can't use his side-b in this matchup. If he does, it's a Dolphin Slash in the face.

Just get past the arrows. They aren't going to be able to spam them the entire match.

Marth completely outranges Pit (with that short little dagger lol).

Use side-b to remove your move degration and rack up damage. You'll kill a lot more easily.

Pit's fsmash is a worse kill move than his ftilt. Pit's a backwards character. His tilts are more similar to smashes than his smashes. The second hit of his fsmash is the same attack power as his ftilt. And his ftilt sends them at a better killing angle for bair off the ledge spammage. His dsmash sucks at killing. It's a great "GET OFF ME!" move. His dtilt is complete trash though. I thought it would be really good after seeing what direction it sent. It's IASA frames are non-existent. So it just has a lot of lag.

Marth can get beaten by Pit, but that doesn't mean it's easy for Pit. Bit has to go out there and hit Marth before he uses his up-b. Marth's like Ike. If he starts using that up-b, just give up on edgeguarding and go find something else to do until he gets back on the stage.

Or Pit can just stall on the ledge with up-b and use gained invincibility to not get hit with Dolphin Slash, and edgehog a helpless Marth.

ya... pit doesnt give me a problem anymore(probly cause im so used to him), but for others i could see him as a real threat.

you get used to the arrows just like you got used to falco's lasers.

EL, something I'm wondering about, is Marth supposed to be approaching by WALKING? His dash seems absurdly long, and in Brawl you can't shield until after the opening frames of dash. If anything, shielding the arrows seems like a less effective approach than making quick shorthop > doublejumps.

I might be wrong though, I dunno. I never played against a good Pit yet.

Walking is top tier in brawl.

Approach Pit by rolling, instant double jumping, SH to airdodge, full jumping, and d-tilt crawling.

D-tilt Crawling is just repeated d-tilts to move slowly across the stage.

Good for spacing when you are closer.

Godda keep in mind, the arrows cause you to flinch but they do next to no damage. The Pit in the video wasn't really spamming arrows, i saw more Marth fair's then arrows, but anyway when it comes to fighting Pit, don't be afraid to take your battle off the edge. Pit may have wings but he seems to lose the ability to use them really quickly when you go out and nudge him.

nub, it needs to known that pit counters marth. shut up
well for one thing emblem lord states that marth holds more advantages to pit than pit does to marth and most people agree with him, so pit doesn't actually counter marth.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=160991

and im pretty sure we'll trust emblem lord's judgement over yours since he's said a lot more things these boards agree with. That and bumping a topic thats 3 months old will seem extremely idiotic to most people on these boards.

Pit has a black hole though; it is mean.

:(

Still, the fact that Marth outranges pit in like everything leaves me to lulz.
LA LA.

Also: People are using the Marth avatar that EL has been using too much now.
Whenever I am scrolling through posts and see it I go "ooh, time for some WISDOM" (the type that breaks your teeth ;)), but alas, it is some guy who is not EL, I *sigh* and the motivation gain that quickly passes through the voids of time.

i use his arrows to recover sometimes. just before one hits you, do an up b to shoot at it and you get another up b. yaaaaaaaaaaay. oh, and when you do dancing blade you're pressing it too fast so it doesnt complete. unless you meant to do that. nice edge guards for both of you but... you SD'd. it made me barf. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. eeeeeeeeew.

Good Pit players don't arrow spam. Pit is a very technique heavy character and if you don't know how to play him right then your forced to arrow spam. Pit and Marth are always a good match at least in my experience with two pretty good Marth players. Even though Pits recovery is very easy to gimp most good players don't use it except for mind games gliding is alot better and more efficient.
