I think hip-hop is garbage. It's so played out, mainstream, everyone listens to it, annoying, doesn't take skill to create, no talent, and just overall useless, not to mention the lyrics are trash.

but RnB has those rifts man, I love it. Same with soul. It's such a good genre, with amazing talent, and isn't bred by the entertainment industry to become "entertainers"
they are actually, artists :)
RnB makes me sick.

my three main "branches" are hip hop, rock, and techno.

for hiphop i basically like everything
rock is mostly metal, but i do love me some punk, progressive, and SOAD
techno i like mainly the dance varieties. house, hardcore, hardstyle, happy hardcore, jungle, acid house etc.

here's a track I really like, from Prefuse 73's Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives which features MF Doom and Aesop Rock. I think they work pretty well on this beat, and it's a little ways from the commercial sound we all know. I would also recommend this:

Which kinda has the same attitude as R&B but it's obviously more hip-hop. this is the Strange Fruit Project and the beat's from 9th Wonder, who was mentioned before in this threat.
Another song would be this, which is cool. Atmosphere is Slug and Ant.

also guys, recommend me hiphop artists!

lol
i don't know what trolling is so if you could inform me so i won't do it? and yeah
i was just stating my opinion, I didn't mean to get everyone so heated, i'm actually a rock kinda guy but I can see how what I said was offenseive.
Trolling means intentionally using outrageous or offensive statements in order to cause conflict. I don't think you were trying to be a troll, but if you come into a hip hop thread just to say "hip hop sucks" then of course people are going to label you a troll.

alright. let's not turn this into a genre-flame thread. i personally like rock, r&b, and rap : ).
lol ageed. I can really pretty much tolerate any genre, though hip hop is by far my favorite. I'm a rock fan as well, and I also enjoy funk, RnB, jazz, and orchestra music.

Atmosphere is AWESOME. So is Slug by himself. He has a great verse on Put Your Quarter Up (Molemen featuring Slug, MF Doom, and Aesop Rock).

Also: Someone give me some good Papoose tracks. I only know alphabetical slaughter, lol.

I'm in love with Eyedea and Slug now.

Discuss. I will link songs for people that aren't familiar with these amazing artists.

My favourite Eyedea songs are Burn Fetish and The Dive.

I think you're underrating Eyedea, but Slug does take it to a completely different level in terms of lyrical ability and story telling.

For example, Yesterday

Guys like these are why I devote myself to underground rap and ignore mainstream.

I'm not underrating him. I can't simply judge based off how lyrical someone is. Sometimes, their **** is just boring. :rocket:

Yesterday is a great song but he has better stories than that : )

I love Eyedea, stuff like "The Dive" and "Burn Fetish" aren't boring lol.

Nobody produces perfect tracks every time, but opinions are opinions.

Word? Link me to some?

Even though I absolutely hate my father because of how bad he abused me as a child, this song still touched my heart because I felt it from Slug's viewpoint.

It's a really nice song.

I've heard nothing but good news about "When Life Gives You Lemons."

I'll be checking it out.

Collectively, Slug is better than Eyedea. Not going to lie.

Checking out those links, I'm in the mood for some fresh dope underground music.

About my dad, don't worry about it. Drugs destroy you from the inside out, that is all.
