does vancouver have a hip hop scene? That's a nice loophole to tie in anything to this thread.

I definitely wanna move somewhere with a more active hip hop scene.

I feel like Cali has hip hop and smash. Knock this bull**** degree out this fall and that's where I'm trying to find work. Or maybe Chicago.
if you wanna play melee and love hip-hop socal is your mecca

what did you guys not like about it exactly? Was it the actual song you dont like or just the performance? I enjoyed that a lot. But maybe its just cuz i do like that song. and im high.

On the topic of big sean, i like that song "dance (a$$)", it hits hellaa hard. Still havent heard his album though.

I'm not familiar with the song. It sounds decent, but Kanye gotta be wasted. He makes it sound like ***.

give the original song a shot. It definitely is party music caliber but lyrically, its at an above averge level (for party rap). Big sean is good at that. Dance hip hop. While still keeping the rapping abilities hot.

Btw, im in my car right now listening to WTT, and on track 12 (dont know the name at this moment), jay-z is at his best i think. He ***** that track.

Why I Love You, if I'm not mistaken.

Watch the Throne is solid, but my god, does it flow so awkwardly. That, and the lyrical content is so inconsistant at times.

My main problem with it is it's lack of fluidity. Plus, I could easily sense a lack of chemistry between the two on a few tracks.

Other than that, I really really like this album.

Yeah... I have yet to touch his other albums.

An artist's first major label debut is usually going to be their best work.

As proven with Jay, 'Ye, Em, Game, 50, Nas, etc.

EDIT: Watch the Throne did 436,000 in its first week. I thought it would have done 500k, but that's just me.

not true. Debut albums have a special place, but its not like auto downhill.

Jay - I like blueprint more
Ye - ya still my favorite
Em - MMLP >
Game - ????
50 - lol50. I actually was listening to Get Rich or Die trying a month or two ago and it just felt so corny to me.
Nas - It was written, Stillmatic

but it is a notable trend. I love Mos and Lupe's first albums aloot more than their subsequent stuff.

Artists put their soul into that first album. Still enjoying Kendrick's debut. Cole's will be special too I think. Blu's Warner brothers solo debut will prolly be wack tho, judging from the electro **** I've heard so far. His real debut was Below The Heavens...

Since I posted here I think it's only fair I follow on.

Something new for you guys since you probably won't know about anyone from the UK, especially if they were early 2000s Anyway they're called Mis-Teeq.

Kind of a fusion of garabge and R&B, but imo their best songs aren't really R&B but whatever.

[yt]WGX4CWCKkp8[/yt]

Song name: All I Want

Their debut single totally garage (UK underground hip hop in case you didn't know).

[yt]CzJ-_tWFXrA[/yt]

Song name: Scandalous

Beastly song, probably my favourite of theirs, just listen it's really hot.

I enjoy Blueprint more, but that doesn't make it a better album.

SSLP is better than MMLP, IMHO. Both are still amazing as ****.

Game had The Documentary. Y'know. How We Do? With 50? Hate It or Love It?

Illmatic >>>>>>>>> IWW/Stillmatic.

Lupe, Snoop, Dr. Dre, DMX, Jeezy and Kendrick Lamar only help to prove my point

Exceptions would be Wayne, Ross, Big Sean, T.I., Outkast, and Ludacris.

Did you ever so slightly say IWW is better than Illmatic?

I can't listen to GRODT either. I won't call it a gimmick but that's really how it feels listening to that shit.

Power of a Dollar >> GRODT >> any of 50's other shiz.

Started getting into Hopsin and SwizZz's music. Listened to Raw...****'s niiiice...I recommend picking that album up if you're into lyrics and haven't heard their stuff already.

Pretty ill song with both of em on it: How you like me now?

For a somewhat new artist, his hooks are really good.

You like Hopsins hooks? Really?

That's normally used against him because they're usually really generic and late 90s early 2000s sounding. Same with his beats. His lyrical abilities lets him overcome that **** tho
