i'd say mid-90s, it was just between Nas and Big. Jay took over in the late 90s. i guess ja rule had it in 2001 to 2002? 50 had it in 2003.

this is a strange thing to ponder lol.

I heard she was kicked out for not giving sexual favors to 50 and the other members of G-Unit, if so that's some funny *** **** on them being rich as hell and still being turned shot like that. But then again big *** props to Olivia for not being a hoe and having morals + standards... even if it cost her fame.. lol

Oh yeah, that's a good point. Both were very major around the turn of the 21st century. But since when was DMX fat? Or was that "heavyweights" comment just applying to Pun?

Undeniably Jay. His overall status,body of work, and level of respect in the hip-hop community at this point is hard to argue against. Ask any rapper who's boss right now...

Ah man soap that Dynasty Intro is sooooo good.

Big was definitely on top in NY in the mid 90s and then Jay took over after that. Nas wasn't a strong commercial success and probably gained more fans later on after people heard he was working with Dr Dre tbh.

50 was cool for a bit he was definitely buzzing in NY before aftermath ever came into the picture and then obviously he absolutely exploded in popularity afterwards. But Jay never fell off at that point and then after Jay decided to retire 50 promptly fell off so he never really got considered. Plus getting ethered by Jadakiss didn't help.
