nothing major.

Originally i was thinking the 4 members(at 5 stocks) with a sub for a total of 20 stocks(typical melee crew battle format). but shaky wants to be in the crew without being a sub and im sure denti would feel the same way on our side so no big deal. it can be a 5 man crew(at 4 stocks) with a sub for a total of 20 stocks.

esam already recommended the stage selection method and i agreed to it.

timer would be 10min instead of 8.
and in case if timeout*

These are the rules I had for my event:

Crews Ruleset

-Every player must write their character down on a sheet of paper prior to the battle.
-The first stage is Smashville
-Smashville, Battlefield, and Yoshi's Island (Brawl) are on Random
-Final Destination, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon Stadium, Castle Siege, Halberd, Delfino Plaza, and Frigate Orpheon are legal, though not on random
-When a battle ends, the player who won keeps all of the stocks they have remaining. The losing team sends in their next player. This player may either choose a random stage, or to pick a stage from any legal selection. If the player coming in picks a stage, the player staying in from the winning team may pick any character. If random is chosen as the stage, they must stay their character. The player coming in must go the character they wrote on the paper in the beginning, however if their opponent opted to change character, they may pick a different character.
-Every game will have a 10 minute timer. If time runs out, and a player is above in stock, that player will stay and continue with the amount of stocks equal to how many more they have than their opponent. For instance, if time runs out and Player A has 3 stocks and Player B has 2 stocks - Player A will move onto the next game with 1 stock. Both teams will lose 2 stocks from their total because of this. If the two players are tied in stocks, whoever has less percent will move on with one stock remaining.

this is like 98% of what we did in melee.

That part is dumb. Dude is already counterpicking the stage, they should deal with it.

stages should be all legal. random select with the ability to strike 2 stages per player each game. make things interesting.

edit: all the legal stages that is

I don't think we ever got an answer if a time out happened in crews...
read below.

there are a few ways you can deal with it.

1. redo the match one more time. if there is another timeout by the same player, he loses.
2. if its clear who timed out who, punish that player. punish him by declaring the loser of the match a winner. ex: if shaky times me out. i win.
3. no timer. and risk having a 12min, 20min, 1hr long match. now what if that happens more than once during the crew battle.....its gonna add up to be a long *** night.
im open to other ideas like chibos or w/e. just recommend.

@Xyro: Having a timer AT ALL in crew battles is dumb. Obviously the loser should be approaching, but I've had aggressive 3 stock matches with Seibrik last 5-6 minutes with 3 stocks. If I'm playing a little more carefully the matches can go to 7 minutes. Since we have more stocks, the timer would increase. IDK, timers in crews is weird. It isn't like we will be running away, but having no time limit gives us no incentive to run (although no incentive to approach). If I came in against, let's say, Razer and he had 3 stocks and I had 5, I would NEVER have to approach because he is already at a 2 stock deficit IF THERE IS TIME!

Time sucks, and so do Brawl crews. I've never been hyped for them...ever. I like the thought of the exhibition, but the particulars of the game don't work. In Melee, everybody is aggressive so you don't need to worry about time. In Brawl, being defensive is advantageous, so you want to curb it by having time. However, if there is time, you are REALLY encouraging players to time others out since we have multiple stocks.

Then again, I don't like crew battles to begin with. ****'s stupid, I would rather have everybody MM everybody on the other team and just show which group had more set wins. I HATE the idea of crews, and this is coming from somebody who played Melee.

Let's just not do crews.
Unless you'd actually block us from entering.
I'd much rather play random people.

Wynaut? HYPE! XD

And we all know the matches won't go that long. Cmon now.
its the concept thats important, not the example.

a person who has the goal of timing out will timeout regardless of time. placing a timer on that particular player keeps their retardism in check. thats why id allow a 10min timer. but to tunr off a timer is extremely unsafe because what if several matchs go over 8 min or 10min or 12 min? i got **** to run and people to do so wtf would i wanna sit through this **** and have it clog up space and people attention. you know?

I just don't think it's fair if like ex: Seibrik's Wario times out someoen then Seibrik loses for it. Shouldn't Seibrik win for that?

It's a crew battle.
You should not be aiming for a time-out.
You should be aiming to take stocks.

If thats the case then a 10min timer shouldn't be an issue should it?. if there is one thing ive learned in life, its that you can never take anybody for their word. let actions do the "talking"

I mean I don't like time outs either. I'd rather people win by taking stocks. Idk just kinda confused I guess cause I know people win by timing out in tourneys so I thought the same would apply in crews. Well I also never seen crews with a timer before. XD
