X is when the MegaMan series started to go somewhere. Not that the Mega Man games aren't good but they have virtually no plot potential/direction. In the X and later Zero series you actually found good characters with fast, difficult battles. X & Zero series are the more mature version of Mega Man games. (spoiler alert)

Instead of having Dr.Willy be the main bad guy, the X series had him in the shadows as Zero and Sigma's creator by the name Dr.Wile (or something). Zero dreams about him.
Sigma is in the spotlight until he corrupts Dr.Dopler in x3, uses Replaforce in X4 (worst cut-scene acting EVER), starts the disaster where the viral space colony crashes on Earth in x5, then Gate steals the spotlight, uses Zero's DNA (WTF?) to create the 'Zero Nightmare' in X6 and Sigma is only revived at the very end as the final boss. The Zero series have a decent story that fills in a time gap between the 2 series and Wile finally is reviled in the end of Z2, and plays a role in Z3 and Z4.

I do not care about plot in a platformer. Things like people expecting delicate complex story lines and other things that DO NOT MATTER FOR MAKING A GOOD GAME makes me sad. It took Capcom til Megaman X4 to actually try and make the game have an intense mature storyline, the story in Megaman X-X3 are NOT much better than the stories in Megaman 1-6. The difference is that megaman has a campy feel to it where as X is supposed to be a bit more serious.

Here you say that megaman games are less than excellent and you don't like the simplicity of the jokes and subtle things going on that aren't nearly as simple. Megaman hits you on all levels possible for your senses, you can even smell the awesomeness in the air.

This says that in the previous games that either the characters aren't fast (could be true, but Bass and the slide and speed running glitches kind of fix it.) and that the boss battles are easier in the classic series or it says that the bosses aren't good and they are slower and not as difficult.

I believe megaman 1 is still voted one of the most difficult games of all time without glitches. Neither X game has been on it, but X3 might belong./editorializing.
