Yeah, there's been no actual confirmation of Sony slipping from the date. People just keep assuming they'll move it because the display units at TGS were overheating.

I had always imagined that the Wii would release before the PS3.

If the release date of the PS3 is firm, and if Bungie keeps their word, Halo 3 will be on store shelves next month.

.. did I miss something? Bungie has never said Halo 3 would be out in time for the 2006 Holiday season. You know, at the end of the E3 trailer it says "Finish the Fight. 2007."? Yeah.

Bungie hinted that Halo 3 will be released on the same day as the PS3. I'm assuming they expected the PS3 hit stores in 2007.

Wow.

Bill Gates said that as a joke, if I remember correctly:

"Note to the hard-core faithful: the next version of Halo will not, repeat not, be ready in time for the launch of Xbox 360. It will be part of the all-important second wave next spring. 'It's perfect,' Gates says, radiant with bloodlust. 'The day Sony launches [the new PlayStation], and they walk right into Halo 3.'"
That comment was made in May of 2005. A LOT has changed since then.

Oh hey, Nin said they would release before the PS3, and now they are; you don't think they anticipated that, do you? At least the stores won't be as crowded probably.
Gah, sorry about that. I forgot the first rule of posting a supposed fact on the Internet, double check your source. :( But I do have this month's EGM in front of me, and on page 32 it says "Sony already announced it nixed its original shipment to Europe," so at least in Europe Nin could be, or actually is, launching first. >.>

I don't know who that guy with the horns and dark skin is supposed to be, but I like it anyway. It shows the Mii maker's options aside from trying to create as close as possible to what we really look like. Oh, and on that note, who does this look like?

That was initially an accident, and then my brother just added to it to make it closer to the show. (I still want the Hylian crest on my back :`(. At least those controller skins make me feel better about the Wii only launching in white.)

Churck Norris should die. No one should make anything about Norris at all, 'cause the people who do Chuck Norris jokes are the people who walk around screaming 'I'm Rick James, *****!' and saying 'git-r-dun.'

These people should be shot and banished to the sun.

I'm a bit late to this... but this is about as close as I could come to making something that looks like me.

Especially disappointed in the lack of color choices. Regardless, the real thing will be much better.

(And yes, my beard is red, but my hair isn't quite that blonde. All natural)

That is true now, but it was pretty funny... a few years ago. Especially when Conan had the yellow Norris leaver on his show.

Haha, I'm just joking...kinda. You know that a lot of 12 year olds, especially ones that use the Internets, are immature. Of course, with every generalization, there are exceptions.

Congrats, Donutt, you sir are an exception!

[Edit:]

See, at least I'm not mean about it, like Mr. Guy Above Me.

Ok, sorry. This is way after the fact (oh, not really, it was earlier today!)...but I'm pretty sure that this is not true.

I thought I read somewhere that the Wii would be exclusive to GameStop locations for at least a little while. Lemme see if I can dig that up...

Cash eating babies and being mean is life? Hmm...so:

Cash+Babies+mean=Life.
Cash+Mean Babies=Life.
Life-Mean Babies=Cash.

GJ Cash. If Life didn't contain mean babies, it would be you. :-D

Jeah, I'm tired. Deal.

Let's get straight to the point: what does my age relate to? My fanboyism (not a real word) towards the Wii?

Cashed, please...
Wow, you must be pretty mature for a thirteen-year-old. Most the ones I know, or even fifteen-year-olds I know, would have reacted very immaturely to that.

Cashed isn't mean so much as strict and at times brutally honest. But on the Internet, there really isn't a whole lot of difference. Hey Cashed, your dad isn't a drill seargent or anything like that, is he?...

Sensai, what's so confusing about this? "While Sony recently made it clear that they are spending $30 million to get their PlayStation 3 demo stations in 15,000 retail locations across North America, GameStop may be the only place that consumers will get a chance to test out the Wii during the launch period. 'Getting that controller into someone's hands is very important,' said GameStop president Steve Morgan." Gamestop is getting the demo stations exclusively, not the Wii itself.

No, not at all. People can be fanboys at any age. Look at me: I'm 38 and I live in my mother's basement...speaking of which...

'MOM, MORE HOTPOCKETS!'

Not really. I am a Nintendo fanboy though, age 17.

The thing about age isn't really about young and old..it's about people who are around 12-14 years old. No offense meant, of course. The thing is, these people usually tend to be hormonal and are thus the ones who do stupid (among other not thought through) things, such as typing in all caps or telling Chuck Norris jokes.

But really, I usually mean it as a way to insult people who do things (in this case, whomever would dare mention Norris), by saying that they're younger then they really are and also by putting them into a category of usually immature people.

Hey, I just noticed no one guessed my Wii creation. Somebody on here has to know!
I don't mind mean people, not saying anyone's mean. In fact, if I had my choice, I'd much rather have mean people than dumb people.

Nothing's confusing about it. What I was saying is that the Target thing looked to be some kind of demo unit, where it actually isn't. THAT'S what I don't get.

And I haven't even seen your Wii creation, haha.

If you check the PS3 topic you'd see that it's only going to be launching 2 days before the Wii in Japan and US. Everywhere else has been delayed to about end of Q1 start of Q2 of 07.

Yeah, good point... *thumps forehead with the heel of my palm* I'm not interested in the PS3 right now, so I haven't been looking in that thread.

Yeah, he's done that before. You better start compiling random information that was already compiled on other sites, or you may be out of a job.
LOL

Sensai, I didn't see Target or their logo on that page, and now it's not displaying the pictures, so... :/

According to an IGN Insider Mathu83, the latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine reveals the following about ReedSteel:

“Controls have been vastly improved, due to three aspects. Final build Wiimote, refined sensor bar (most likely the one we saw last week at the Nintendo World Store), and Ubisoft’s time spent tweaking the game. Gesture towards defeated enemies to tell them where to go. Some aspects of the game are still a secret.”

“Graphics are simply amazing. Forget everything you have seen from all the Red Steel videos up until now. Unbelievably smooth character animations, night time dojo level is gorgeous, rain and lighting storm is very well done, compared to RE4’s village area, but more impressive. One portion of the game has you escaping a burning dojo that features ” the best fire effects we’ve ever seen”. Version of the game played was 16:9 widescreen 480p at 60 frames per second.”

CHEAP COMPONENT CABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Third-Party accessory company Pelican is manufacturing component cables for the Wii according to my US wholesaler contact. While an original cable might cost around $60 or so, Pelican’s Component Cable accessory should cost as little as $15! The following is a description of the item:

“Component Video Cable Wii. Pelican’s Component Video Cables provide more color detail than S-Video and are an ideal solution for using your Wii with your HDTV. Delivers a more vivid and vibrant picture and true 75-Ohm impedance for the ultimate home theater experience.”

Also pre-orders for PS3 started today.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6159525.html

by the time u read this they are all ready gone,AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, but the good news is that when i went to gamestop they said the wii preorders WILL HAPPEN this week. so i suggest yall all go to gamestop by friday and try and reserve a wii. i know the link to the PS3 thing is off topic, sorry.

Oh well. And good work on finding all those 3rd party things.

I'm sorry. I'm a technical idiot...what does this mean? I mean, I know it means that it'll look better (slightly? Hugely?) on a HDTV, but what about us poor guys who just have normal TV's? Is there any advantage in buying one, save that we MIGHT upgrade?

To blaksheap82:

These links LOOK to be Wii demo booths, but the article I linked earlier (http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=13980) says that they can't be, because only GameStop locations will have demo booths.

Sensai, the thing with component cables is that they're only used with TVs with component acceptors--you know, the green, red, and blue ones instead of the the standard A/V yellow, red, and white. All HDTVs should be component compatible; however, there are some standard non-HD TVs that still accept component cables anyways.

And yes, component cables will increase the quality of the picture, especially if you put it in progressive scan. However, the improvement isn't that big of a jump if you're already using S-video. Still looks great though.

If you don't have a TV that's component-ready, then don't worry about it. . .you shouldn't spend a huge wad of cash just to increase picture quality when S-video does almost the same thing. Things would be different if you were looking to enter the HDTV market though. . .
