Why non-legendaries are called legendaries? O_o

Legendary = Pokemon you can only catch once, that cannot breed or evolve/be evolved into. Growlithe can be caught many times and evolved into Arcanine, Arcanine can breed back into Growlithe, thus he is not legendary.

And no, Lucario is NOT legendary. Don't go by the anime, the games came first. Lucario is obtainable only by the Riolu Egg in D/P. But you can breed him, evolve into him, etc.

I think he meant Arcanine being of a Legendary species, not him actually being legendary.

Well when someone says "Legendary" referring to Pokemon, that's what they mean, "super uber Pokemon that have no gender". What I said before is the definition of "legendary" in Pokemon. You may have your own definition, but don't expect the rest of the community to see it the same way.

Lucario is NOT a legendary, even by anime standards tbh. He's just ancient in the anime is all.

Usually has no Gender and (usually) can't breed.
I don't think Rotom is a legendary... he's weak.... can breed.... and.. well.... kind of weird....

Since everyone here is just attacking you and not reading what you actually mean, let me say that by a Pokedex Perspective, Arcanine is legendary. So are other rarely seen things like Relicanth and Lucario. So yea, Legendary Pokemon that aren't Legendary Pokemon.

As for the anime, my theory is Lucario is legendary, there was only one of his kind, he was basically the start of the species, since he went through his life training and not having babies, and then went to the future and died, he never got a chance to continue the breed, therefore making him legendary.

Although, what about those Pokemon that have Dex entries that say something like, "This Pokemon is often referred to in legends and stories" I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I figure they would be ghost or dark types. Maybe Absol or something.
