Why is it wrong to kill and do you think it is ok to kill? I know, laws but I mean from a moral view. Animals kill each other, nature insists on survival and I think people should kill.

I don't get it.

Are you trolling? Because I can't see why a person would be serious about this.
Can you go more into detail about your reasons please?

I'm 90% sure he is a troll, and 95% sure this question is based off of Death Note.

Killing infringes the rights of others. It's as clear as that.

It was a simple question. After watching shows on animal planet, they constantly say it is ok for the animals to kill and never help the deer that is getting gunted, natures course. I was just implying that we are animals too as much as we think we are not, we have the same needs and so on. Humans are in constant war with one another and do it for survival, people fight in selfdefense and so on, survive. Is it ok to kill because governement tell you too? I was just exploring what everyone's view was.

I hate new forums, people assume I am trolling because my question isn't their own or if they dissagree with me.

Oh god.

I'd write a decently long post on my views about the subject and whatnot. But unfortunately I haven't quite mastered the art of typing while laughing uncontrollably.

People aren't hating you for your opinion(?), you just weren't clear in explaining what you're talking about.

You originally asked if it was ok for humans to kill based on what animals in the wild do.

LT responded by saying humans don't need to kill to survive.

You responded by saying "what about Hitler and other world wars!!"

Do you see where the confusion comes from now?

Please, if you guys do not wish to share your views on the topic I presented, then find some other thread to troll. I do not have time for immature children derailing my thread with nonesense.

LT said "Because we don't need to kill other humans in order to survive?" He answered with a question, his presentation wasn't good enough and was to vague. I thought he was being a smartass, sorry if he wasn't.

But unless we do it for self defense we really don't need to kill to survive. =P

I saw this, thought about just ignoring it, then thought "eh, why not".

Not wanting to kill others is on the basis of ideas like the golden rule.

From Wikipedia:

1. One should treat others according to how one would like others to treat one's self (positive, passive form)
2. Treat others as you would like to be treated (positive, active form)
3. One should not treat others in ways one would not like to be treated (prohibitive, passive form)
4. Do not treat others in ways you would not like to be treated (prohibitive, active form. Also called the Silver Rule)

Yeah.

You win this thread.

Anyways, we don't hate you, lol.
However, calling us immature children doesn't really make us want to answer your question...

Puu pretty much summed it up, though. ;)

To be fair, some of the people responding to this thread are actually being more immature than Ryuk is.

Some are, yes, but you can't overlook those of us who have contributed to the topic can you?
Basically, the question has been answered already.

It's wrong because humanity kinda decided it is. I mean, ask yourself. Is it ok to kill? Would you feel good about killing someone? You'd say no because it IS wrong, as defined by humanity (which you are a part of). If there was only two humans left in the world, and one of them thought it was ok to kill, it would simply be a matter of opinion.

If we take a look at nature, we'll see that animals don't kill each other. They only kill other animals apart from their own group or species. If individuals of a certain species had a tendency to kill each other, that species would go extinct. It's an evolutionary dead end.

Self defence, or hunting to gather food.

Only reason we could think killing is bad because we're intelligent enough to tell whats right and wrong.

It would make more sense to kill a mammoth for its pelt and bones for shelter, and use its meat as food, instead of senselessly killing each one of them as an act of revenge for killing your family or something.

Of course there will always be someone who thinks otherwise.

(well that explained everything...)

As the conversation went on, it made more sense, but the initial thread post is quite clearly trolling.

Excuse me, but someone who joined last month shouldn't be using join date as a sign for trolls.

Thank you for noticing that Tiger, but how exactly did you know? :ohwell:
I feel like I'm missing something obvious, lol.

Ill give him the benefit of the doubt and tell him that he should have joined the Temp Debators group and made this thread in the debate room.

I'd agree with you there, but seriously, the affirmative of the debate would be pathetic, and it's obvious that no one agrees that it's justified to kill. And if you go through a fun list of topics then you see a thread asking why it's wrong to kill, am I wrong to find it trolling?

EDIT: PD4FR yeah lol I knew someone would mention that, but my point there was...how the **** do you get 6 ban points in 3 days without doing something undeniably stupid? SECOND EDIT: Actually, I meant 1 day! I looked at his profile...he just joined today...

I always think of things like how it's okay to kill much smaller life than us, like insects. Nobody bats an eye at obliterating insects or pests. It's interesting to ponder exactly where the line is "supposed" to be drawn.

I've always thought about that, too, but I've never heard anyone actually state it. I actually never really thought about asking people what they think about it...so if anyone has an opinion on this, please tell.

I'm just going to summarize my thoughts into these words: Life is precious; Why take it away from anything that has it?

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm glad people are still coming to this forum. :)
1 day is pretty bad though, lol, I'm just glad our Moderators are on top of things.
They don't get enough credit for what they do; well done, Mods! :bee:

It's fairly difficult to logically establish or ague why killing is wrong, as with just about any right vs. wrong scenario. Typically morality is derived from popular or traditional opinion, although it can change, I doubt killing [humans] will ever be viewed as socially or legally acceptable.

Not really. It is the ultimate violation of someone else's most basic right- life. I don't think it's very hard to establish why it's "wrong" in a modern civilized society.

The moral quandary comes in the hypocrisy of it being okay to kill some kinds of life but not others.
