Why does everyone believe there MUST be a playable Animal Crossing character?

There's more evidence for the inclusion of an AC rep than there isn't. Claiming that EVERYTHING will be revamped is silly. Yes, many things will be different, but I'm sure trivial things like emblems will remain the same. No one is to say though, but I stick to the first sentence of my argument. We'll just have to wait and see. Never deny anything. Not at this point. Expect anything and everything.

This isn't SSB or Melee. This is Brawl.

Smashville is the AC rep. there will be no character.

Off-topic:Falco>Krystal. A bird can be more unique than a female Fox with a stick.

SO, this is Brawl...It's still Smash. You actually have a point to prove anything?

I don't kill messengers. Good messengers are hard to find these days.

I wrote something of a response and then noticed that he replied, and it pretty much answered what I was asking...so now I've gotten rid of that part. I don't think Krystal is any worse of a character individually because of what they did to the game. I AM irritated at how Nintendo, for some reason, thought it would be a smart idea to take what was a pretty cool original idea and said, "Hey Rare, LOOK! Is that an anthropomorphic fox looking character in your game? Why, we've got one of those! You should put him in the game instead. And by should we mean WILL since we fund all your games." But Krystal as a character still has more potential than she's ever gotten to show on her own.

And besides, for an adventure game, it really wasn't THAT bad. But it wasn't a Star Fox game by any stretch of the imagination. You should just do what I do: ignore her role in all games after SFA and pretend that she was actually the main character like she should have been.

And why is Xanderous laughing at me?
Yeah I remember hearing about that, how Fox just kinda took over an already-existing game. Kinda lame. I wish they hadn't done it. That still doesn't mean Krystal, a cool character, can't be in.

I guess it must be some strange sense of irony then, because ANYONE with a stick (even an Animal Crossing rep) would be more unique than what they ended up doing with Falco in the LAST Smash Bros. game...

Yes, I went there.

Okay, I skipped through the whole thread because I was feeling lazy. I'm just going to say what I think. The reason that I think there pretty much must be an Animal Crossing character in Brawl is because there is pretty much no reason for there not to be one. Sakurai is not one to avoid a character , even if the character is weird and doesn't fight, just look at Pokemon Trainer. If there is a franchise, Sakurai can make a character out of it and will make a character out of it. It if he has the time to make a stage, he has the time to make a character.

Okay, after reading all of this, I've concluded to this idea:

Although I'd rather not have it, there will probably be an AC rep. With all the AC things already there, it is almost inevitable to believe there will not be one. I'm in doubt but I'm admitting to defeat so bear with me.

There is one other thing to consider though:
This is Sakurai we're talking about here. He could put in any random character he'd like and he could take out any character he'd want. So even though it's an almost yes, I'd give it a 10 percent chance that there might not be an AC rep at all.

Ummmmmmmm, to answer your question maybe because the Animal Crossing franchise is really popular right now. Why wouldn't they include a playable from this series?

...Which is STILL a safer bet than basing it on something OTHER than past games.

He's a boss, not a fighter. That doesn't prove anything either way.

You want an argument that there won't be an AC character? I'd look to the fact that they revealed the AC level BEFORE they revealed a character.

Remember they revealed Ike's level only after revealing Ike, but then again, they revealed Yoshi's level before Yoshi, but they also revealed both Ike's level and Yoshi's in the first trailer so it's hard to say what that means, if anything.

I think it's still up in the air.
They revealed Yoshi's Stage AND Music before hand like you said, so that isn't really a valid argument. There WILL be a rep.

...Animal Crossing Emblem, Animal Crossing Stage, Animal Crossing Music, Animal Crossing Item, Animal Crossing Assist Trophy...

Thus far it's the update equivalent to Sakurai kneeling on our chests and wailing on our heads while going, "ANIMAL CROSSING'S GOING TO HAVE A PLAYABLE CHARACTER! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

I don't care how unique they are. Falco was good in Melee, and everyone dang well knows it.

I'd rather have a clone character if the clone has a better moveset than he/she/it/bob would have had if he/she/it/bob were unique.

in all honesty, clonez pwnz.

EDIT: oh, and about the AC character, I still don't bvelieve it. Prove it. *grins*

Maybe I don't have anything against Krystal. Maybe it's just me feeling bitter that there hasn't been a quality Starfox game in a decade.

And on that I totally agree.

Perhaps the next incarnation on the Wii will fix that. All they have to do is follow the formula from 64 and give us new stages and scenarios. Keep the whole choosing our own path thing, take OUT those dumb "Fly here to collect stuff in the stage!" thing and just have it be based on SHOOTING PEOPLE DOWN like it SHOULD be, and don't give us any ground stages of suck.

Hear hear! Though I wouldn't want all of the non-Arwing stages removed; the original Landmaster stages were great (a heck of a lot better than the Armada ones), and the Blue Marine was cool too. But then again, that's because they followed the on-rails SHOOT STUFF methodology.

Edited to stay somewhat on topic, I figure the evidence is pretty compelling that there will be a playable AC rep. I think it's the icon that does it most for me, though I'm not up to snuff on the whole "Icon Theory" thing.

indeed, I'm sensing that the Starfox games hold the same values.
I pesonally didn't mind the ground stages, but I will admit that I did have more funn on the shoot-the-idiots-down stages.

Itd be weird to have a stage and an symbol, and no PC to represent them, dont u think?? some people say that based on past games, every character has his/her symbol and stage, and ur answer is that those are previous games and this is a new one... THATS ur defense?? i mean, using ur logic then we shouldnt even be sure if brawl will be a fighting game, cause u know, the past games were, but this is a new game! ¬¬

So, i guess thats it, of course no one knows for sure who will be, but chances are that there WILL be one

But well, thats just my opinion (and lots of people agree) but if thats not enough for u, then check this out: http://wii.ign.com/articles/823/823398p1.html

For the lazy ones here is the important part:
-A recent interview with an Animal Crossing developer suggests that yes, indeed, AC will get a fighter to call Smashville his home – using the axe, fishing rod, and other environment-interacting items from the game as the basis of his moveset. But would it really be the generic human character, the "Animal Crosser"? Or would it be a more recognized icon like Nook?-

It says he suggests that there should be an AC fighter and yet it's not their decision to confirm them in the game. It's Sakurai and I'd rather some other character rather than an AC.

Are they referring to the supposed "fake" interview that was brought up on gamefaqs? I've heard the saying, "you can't spell ignorant without IGN", but I didn't agree with it until now....

Unless, the interview wasn't a fake, just the screenshots were.....

It's hard to tell. The screenshots were "proved" fake (because in all honesty, I can't read Japanese. So there's always a chance someone said they were fake and they really weren't... kinda makes me feel like I can't trust anything...), but we can't really know about the interview. Personal opinion, fake until proven real. Even if the interview is real, Sakurai can cut or add any character he wants at any time he wants, regardless of other people's interviews...

havent been on here for a while. so thought i'd sign in just to say. im one of the most anti AC people. i'll give my reasons quick and not so much in detail until later. i got things to do. so anyway for the gazillionth time. the animal crossing icon represents the series as a stage. it wouldnt make any sense for them to give an Ac stage a smash symbol. so ta da Ac crossing leaf. it doesnt gurantee a charcter whatsoever. them being in the background should be enough for people to finally except it. mr resetti anint playable and people still go on. seriously now. it's kinda tired.

The only problem I have with any icon argument is what happened to Petey... I don't care if he's a boss for Smash or anything like that, he's a Mario character and they gave him a Smash icon instead. That makes no sense to me. There isn't a good reason for it. Maybe the stage reps AC, maybe a character will, either way it's hard to tell what the icons "mean."

BTW, no precedent is very good from SSB or SSBM because it's only 2 games. There isn't enough examples. It's not good statistics.

Seriously, what's wrong with clones?

You see ppl complaining about Ryu/Ken all the time?

And there will not be an AC character because all of them appear in the stage already.

WHAT ABOUT THE ICON? Well the Icon is there to present the stage... it's an AC stage not a Smash Bros stage... so it gets an AC icon and not a Smash icon

Seriously ppl like to speculate too much... it's like that bullcrap sum guys used to say about the Ridley appearing in the clouds lololol

I guess theres too many kids on the brawl boards

LOL!

I'm sorry, but that statement was just so funny, I just had to laugh!
That books is more true than anything I've heard today... People today are a joke... But if you actually did research instead of letting people tell you what to think we wouldn't have that problem... and that further proves why people today are jokes.

Anyway, the humans characters were never deconfirmed (which isn't even a word), that's like saying that game and watch was deconfirmed because there were versions of him on the stage. They can make up a human character if they wanted. Also SMASHVILLE could be enough to give the stage a Smash con. And what's the point of giving an icon to a franchise and it ONLY being used on the STAGE SELECT SCREEN? It's a waste, and you people know it. People aren't trying to think anymore, and it's sad, it really is. This is not speculation, it's common sense and logic, a thing people lack these days.

When Petey appears in the Subspace Mode do you think they're going to flash a huge icon on the screen so you know what series he's from? No.

The AC icon is for the stage, plain and simple. Smashville is a better rep for AC than a character.

What is wrong with you? With that logic, assist trophy should not get franchise icons either, and this is for the site mind you. He could have EASILY put up a Mushroom con for Petey. Are all these anti-AC character people not wanting a character just because they don't want one? If so, there really is no point arguing anymore... I'm mean of course when we've got people questioning what is wrong clones I think that should have then first red flag to begin with.

^Exactly, most of the AC characters have been deconfirmed already.
Only one Animal Crossing character has been officially deconfirmed.

It'll probably be the AC human anyway. Maybe he will get his classic viking helmet look.

Ok, some people say there has to be an AC character, in all truth, there does not HAVE to be one, its just somthing we want. Like Sonic, people want him, but he doesn't HAVE to be in.

We want an AC rep, just because its a cool franchise, and it would be cool to have another unique character.

It's not there HAS to be one, it's just that it is MOST LIKELY that there WILL be one or there SHOULD be one.

What are they going to add? I mean it's like Sakurai is showing all of this AC characters, deconfirming everything. There will NOT be an AC CHARACTER, ALL OF THEM HAVE BEEN DECONFIRMED ALREADY.
