Why does everyone believe there MUST be a playable Animal Crossing character?

Dont they base the stages off of a character they have in the game either if they are playable or non playable character by non playable character meaning a character that just shows in the game for like kicks and stuff. But i do believe there MIGHT, MIGHT key word.... be a playable character. but to me i think the stages or characters assist or not, should be on there because its a big franchaise now. Ignore me if my statement doesnt fit the post >_>

Even though it isn't proof of anything, a stage not having a playable rep from the same franchise would be awkward.
Any more awkward than a character without a stage (Marth and Roy in Melee)?

Makes just as much sense to me.

You could also try to blame that on time constraints.

I think it makes more sense to have a character w/o a stage than a stage w/o a character.
What represents game franchises better, a stage or a character?

I'd take a character to represent any game over a stage any day.

So wait, the Animal Crossing human might be named "Citizen"? Pokemon Trainer is an okay name, mainly because it would be cool to be a pokemon trainer (like it'd be cool to be Link, or Samus, or Fox...). I'm already a "citizen"... If the AC character is the human player, I sure hope they give it a good name...

Personally, I am 100% convinced that there will be an AC playable rep - Franchise Icon = Character, PLAIN and SIMPLE. People will disagrere with me and say "That just means the stage", and you know what? Go ahead.

Because I thought of a rather interesting counterpoint. Despite my own feelings I'll play Devil's Advocate here for a moment.

Smashville, the stage, IS the character

Think about it; Animal Crossing is unlike any other game out there. You have a playable character, but does the plot really revolve around him or her? Not so much. It's really about the town and its citizens. The whole game is centered aroung the life, status, and health (weeds, popularity) of the town itself. The TOWN can be considered the character. And like some have said, Smashville is probably the most vibrant and dynamic and fun stage in Brawl, and with good reason - it's an Animal Crossing stage.

So, in that case... I rephrase my first statement and say "I am 100% convinced that we are getting a SECOND Animal Crossing character" ;)

You'd prefer Krystal? A character created for a game that only serves as an insult to its own series? A fox with sex appeal? A ****ing furry? Seek help.
I can't wait to get this game, choose AC character go on wifi and beat people like this (who don't think an AC rep is a good idea) into the cold hard crusty dirty ground.

The only things that i think is weird is why they show these characters in the background of a stage first and lead people to believe there not playable?

...Does this mean the stage can attack you?
Of course not. Like any of the stages in Melee ever attacked you, psh. I can promise that they would never shoot any giant Bullet Bills or drop wrenches and buckets or fire lasers at you.

Wait a sec...

You'd prefer Krystal?
Why yes, I would, though at this point it's unknown if she'll show up. I would put good odds on it though.

A character created for a game that only serves as an insult to its own series?
I'm sorry, could you run that by me again? Possibly phrased so that I can understand the intended insult?

A fox with sex appeal?
I don't know, do you find her sexy?

A ****ing furry?
Fox is no less a furry than Krystal. So automatically because the character is female we're just going to label her in a way that we think is supposed to be derogatory and yet is actually neutral. Sounds pretty ignorant and sexist to me.

Seek help.
Seek manners.

Good points Sinn. Besides, Krystal would be a very unique character with that staff and all. And if you think "sex appeal" is a problem for this game check out some of the newer shots of Snake.

And Zero Suit Samus. Even if Zelda is prettier than she is. That staff is going to be an awesome weapon though <3

Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet is an insult to the Star Fox series, which was brilliant before that trash made its way out of development. Krystal is a lame character from a horrible game. I wish we could all just forget about her.

I don't kill messengers. Good messengers are hard to find these days.

I wrote something of a response and then noticed that he replied, and it pretty much answered what I was asking...so now I've gotten rid of that part. I don't think Krystal is any worse of a character individually because of what they did to the game. I AM irritated at how Nintendo, for some reason, thought it would be a smart idea to take what was a pretty cool original idea and said, "Hey Rare, LOOK! Is that an anthropomorphic fox looking character in your game? Why, we've got one of those! You should put him in the game instead. And by should we mean WILL since we fund all your games." But Krystal as a character still has more potential than she's ever gotten to show on her own.

And besides, for an adventure game, it really wasn't THAT bad. But it wasn't a Star Fox game by any stretch of the imagination. You should just do what I do: ignore her role in all games after SFA and pretend that she was actually the main character like she should have been.

And why is Xanderous laughing at me?

Whoever said they were misleading? We THINK they're misleading us.

What I want to know is where the proof for Fire Emblem not having a stage because of time or whatever.. All I see are theories which are no different from those who believe that AC will be repped with a stage and items.

there was the fact that in Melee, if you use the AR, you see a stage...though technically not there...But it's named after a place in Fire Emblem

Anything a bit more solid than that? There can be any number of reasons why that might. (TEST stage for example?)
What the hell else proof does anyone need...That's the best your going to get

This whole part doesn't even have meaning into the main argument anyway

In the past 2 Smash Bros. games, there haven't been any stages without characters to go with them, with the exception of the "Smash Bros." stages, which have no previous franchise of which to speak.

This isn't SSB or Melee. This is Brawl.

Smashville is the AC rep. there will be no character.

Off-topic:Falco>Krystal. A bird can be more unique than a female Fox with a stick.
