Why do you play your character?

Falco, Marth and Captain Falcon because I played them in Brawl as well, and it was slightly easier to pick them up when I started playing Melee. But I'm crap with them so I only use them in friendlies now.

Mewtwo because I am a huge fan of Pokemon and Pikachu/Jiggs/Pichu just didn't feel natural to me. Also because it seems nobody can sdi Nair.

Ganodorf because I was playing friendlies with this guy at my first tournament and ganondorf was the only character I could win with. (which is wierd because I'd never him before that day)

I find it weird what a huge portion of the competitive community play a character because of top player inspiration like Ken or Shiz or whatever. I guess I'm one of the few who tries all the decently tiered characters and picks the one that feels the best to me?

haha but really because he was always my favorite character growing up with this game, he's just so different from the other characters, which is what makes him so much fun to play.
I thought I would have to give him up cuz he's g-tier when I started playing competitive, but I decided, screw it, why not try to become one of the best ness' (since like nobody plays him xD)?
Also Earthbound/the MOTHER series is awesome.

Falco: Funnest character for me by far. I like tech and muscle-memory-related things <_< also feels more rhythmical than playing Fox. Also Zhu.

Pikachu: The only reason I heard about smash was because I was obsessed with Pokemon in 3rd grade, which led me to finding the smashbros site.

Mewtwo for being a personal favorite since childhood years in the games. Seriously... he's the best. And tipping with uair is SO satisfying. So is standing around charging the Shadow Ball and throwing it 3 seconds later only to charge another one immediately after. Too much.

I still main Pikachu for the reason I listed in the OP and because of Axe. I picked up Fox as a secondary after watching Silent wolf and Lovage. Fox is fun to use too.

1. Luigi, because he's my top one favorite character ever, love him in the Mario games as well is Luigi's Mansion one of my most replayed games of all time.

3. Ness, the Mother series are awesome and is seriously underrated. Bless them!
4. Jigglypuff, she's one of my top 5 Pokemons of all time. X3

I think people subconsciously become "comfortable" with a character as a wanting to become there smash "idol"

So I loved M2K's Marth when I first started,so I mained Marth and It felt "right" turns out I was overly aggressive, switched to Fox, and in less then half the time I used Marth in tournament, Im already having greater "success".

Though being honest I dont know If Im truly happy as a Fox main... He's a lot of fun, but I just dont feel content..

At tournaments during friendlies Im a character *****. I ALWAYS Use Falcon first though.

Like I'll be playing friendlies with a new guy and they'll see me change characters every match and ask "uhh who do you play as?" Just to have someone lean in and go "You've never met Bing? He uses EVERYBODY, even characters that arent even in the game." I love it XD
