Who's good?

I have just recently downloaded brawl+ to my wii and its plain awesome! I've had the chance to play against every character. overall the game is pretty balanced. but obviously there will always be a best in the game what i really wanted to know does the brawl+ community have any clue who the best character in the game is? my first instinct says snake, he's way to good. but i really dont know much about the game so i want people to tell me otherwise

I wouldn't be sure if this should be in this forum, but I'll talk.

General consensus seems to say that Marth is good. Otherwise, I've heard a lot of good things about Meta Knight, Ivysaur, Falco, etc.

I do agree that it's much more balanced than before. I don't know if there is even one character that I can think of that is bad.

To answer your question; everyone is good. To be more specific, Marth, Fox, Metaknight and Squirtle are generally agreed as top tier material.

Next time, don't make a topic like this in the character discussion.

First - there's a "Top 10" thread in the normal workshop, though it may have fizzled out.
Second - In before locked.
Third - Just use whomever, the tiers have been condensed enough that it's not a huge deal anymore, which is great.

It's generally assumed that marth fox and squrtle are top 3 will kirby falco luigi and mk rounding out top 5 depending on who you ask. However the level between tiers isn't nearly as huge as it is in vbrawl. You can pick up any one and have a solid secondary(as matchups still applies) and compete with the best of them!

Don't listen to anything else, bowser and ivysaur are not high tier.

Play the game. Whoever you're best with = best character. Screw tiers and all that crap. A character is really only as good as the player, especially now with the characters more balanced.
Example: I was absolutely horrible with MK in the original Brawl. Yes, Metaknight, Mr. Broken God Tier himself. (Now that he's not as broken anymore [if at all], I'd get my *** kicked within 10 seconds of a match starting. XD) Unless you're good with a character, it doesn't matter if they're "top tier" or not.

Yeah, but it's asking it just to know. I diasagree with the statement falco is better than squirtle, I think that squirtle actually beat fox for best in the game.

Again, there isn't really a best or worst. Any character can be good in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.

I can be cheap with MK in brawl, and I still can in b+. It's just a tad harder.

But not by much, imo.

From personal experience I know squirtle is now extremely good, Luigi was also buffed a lot, and Lucas (my main) though perhaps not in the very top tier, is still a ton better than before.

But yeah. Screw what tiers say. Listen to those other people. Use who YOU want. Not whom others prefer. Everyone's going to say their main + MK are the best.

But really, focusing on who's good or not isn't really what you should be doing. At this point there are a number of good characters, and a few bad characters. If anything, avoid the bad characters and you'll be fine.

Even this isn't necessary, as those working on balancing Brawl+ are fixing these characters up on a weekly basis.

I really believe that every character is now viable, although I would agree with most people's top picks on here. I still think that MK is number one; it's just that a lot of people play B+ to get away from ridiculous MK shenanigans so he doesn't see as much exposure as the other top characters.

Tiers exist wether you like it or not, and they represent who is the best character in the current metagame.

With so many different characters, one is bound to be the best, if you fail with MK doesnt mean MK isnt the best.

**** right. I'm sick of people saying "Noez it all dependz on teh pleyarr!!" Go to a tournament with your favorite character (specially if it's a low/bottom tier) and ACTUALLY WIN

With the way Brawl+ works, I would suggest that the best way to win tournaments would be to pick a character who you truly favour and play best as. Then play against a range of people to find out your weakest matchups and hardest fights. Use this knowledge to pick up 1-2 backup characters designed for winning these matchups.

In Brawl it's safe to main only one character because of the dominance that a few of them have over the rest of the cast. But in Brawl+ you're going to see a lot of games going based on the matchup rather than their absolute ranking as a character.

I understand what your saying dont try to take the the wrong way in bringing up this topic. I have no intentions to start a tier list argument. I just find it intersesting about how much each character has changed from vbrawl to brawl+.

Seriously this is the kind of feedback im looking for, I understand that there will always be a best character in any fighting game.but brawl+ is closing the gap to make it more balanced, regardless of whos the best in the game i will keep my mains of samus and captain falcon.

A better character is sumed up on several factors.

But in a nutshell, it's their strengths, and it's ability to cover up weaknesses.


Being lightweight is a weakness, unless this character has the strength to cover up this weakness, he will be considered an inferior character.
There are better characters, and for the most part these are decided through records, with proof being the criterias listed above--AND- the player's ability to make use of it., if you disagree with these said records is to get in tournaments and rank high with whoever, a lot.
You're right by saying a skilled player can control any character really well, but that alone does not say that the said character is good, it just means that the player is good.

Luigi was top of ten period.

Before he got nerfed. (But he's more fun to play as now=useless moves became useable)

Ness WAS in the top 10 before his OPn Fair got nerfed.
