Lol could someone please show me what chu dat's done other than place 5th here in Socal, dropping sets to chillin in md/va, and not really placing top 5 at EC regionals (Not 100% on this one)

you're diminishing the quality of socal by saying that! socal just *****!

chu datz and chillin play all the time... there are few foxes better at vs ICs than chillin. what if i played you all the time hugo? you really think you wouldn't drop sets to me and my sheik? you don't think my familiarity against your style offers me a competitive advantage that out of region players never have?

daniel, why do you include chops?

Zhu is an interesting case because out of the top 10 players besides Mango and Hbox he has the greatest potential to beat Hbox(Zhu knows the matchup IMO) and Mewtwoking( Already did once). The only matchup Zhu might be iffy at is ICs, but I'm sure he can iron that out.
When I see zhu play against anyone besides Mango, it;s usually his own mistakes that kill him not him really being out played. That might not make sense because I guess mistakes are part of getting outplayed. That said I really want to see PP tested vs high level marths and falcons before I put him above Zhu because even though Zhu might not be the greatest vs ICs characters like Falcon and marth are much more important to know well. Zhu is phenomenal at those those match ups. This is just my opinion, I'm not looking to attack players etc.
I'd love to see Zhu use fox again for the Ic's matchup.

Chops is probably one of the most confusing people to rank. Occasionally has bad loses, but can also hang with many top tier players, which is why he doesn't get top 10 by any means, but he's in that ambiguous 11-25 zone.

Edited my previous post, but posting again anyway with a more comprehensive argument for SilentSpectre and HugS:

You look at the tourney resume for SS and it's nothing but consistency all around. 9th at Pound 4 pretty much dismissed the old EC notion that Jeff had a gimmicky playstyle. Also... 3rd at Mango Juice, 3rd at Pat's House, top 2 at pretty much all NorCal events. I believe SS has proven that out of all the top Falcons, his playing style is the most versatile against opponents of different regions. His only "blemish" is Genesis where he got 25th in an extremely difficult bracket. If I were to tell you that I lost to Tope and Jman in bracket, you'd probably guess that I placed somewhere in the top 10-15 at a national.

As for HugS, he had one "bad" tourney, Pound 4, where he got placed in possibly the worst death pool of all time in the 3rd round. Ever since then he's been dominating. His playing style with Samus is comparable to Hungrybox's style with Puff, in my opinion, in that he very rarely ever loses consecutive stocks against anyone except Mango. Pure stage control when he gets back to center stage, especially with respawn invincibility. And this makes him a really strong contender for any upcoming national.

i agree with you w/ ss but you didn't address any of my previous points with hugo! he didn't make it out of pools! case closed! you can't be the model of consistency when you don't make it out of pools at a national! this is not 2006 anymore! everyone in socal know we all can beat hugo!

pretty deathly, but not as bad as that one 3rd round pool from pound3 iirc

i don't remember it completely, but they moved m2k out and it was STILL the hardest pool by far

I'm wondering if Axe is placing high because he plays such a weird character., not to downplay Axe's skills.
I remember Axe demolished Lovage at Pat's House, but Lovage figured out the matchup and beat Axe at NSH. Also, I think Forward and Taj do well against Axe, don't they?

So for now, Axe is a top 10 for sure, but I'm wondering, as the metagame develops, if more people will beat Axe.

LOL all I had to do was lose to SS and Tope, it didn't matter how well I did otherwise. Whatever, you're right though, I wasn't ready for the pressure. I'm better at dealing with it now, and I can't solidly claim anything until I go to another national.

Your argument is perfectly valid, and although I feel like top 10 material, few agree with it because all they have is my pound 4 performance. So I gotta wait I guess.

However, I don't get what you're saying about socal knowing they can all beat me. LoL, My consistency in Socal is 2nd only to mango's, hence why I'm ranked second. I have a lot of close matches, don't get me wrong, but I'm almost certain my only Socal losses since march have been to Zhu(once) and Mango(everytime). (Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember)

brian don't be so quick to label what you don't understand. question it and you'll understand!

daniel l's post was, quite simply, ignorant imo. i pointed out his ignorance in my own little way. you may agree or disagree with it but responding negatively is just going to lead to another negative response 99 percent of the time. is that really what you want? imo coming out of the blue just to post a negative response (you really needed to get that off your chest?) says more about yourself than anything else.

hugo: i just gotta beat you so i can add my name to that list!

kris: that was random =P. working out ***** though! i'm in the process of slimming myself and becoming fast (i think i'm down to 148; my normal weight is 155-160) because like iron mike says, speed kills!

I know Axe plays Falco too, which he used to beat Dr. PP at Pound 4 in one of the matches, but as Brian mentioned previously, Axe used pikachu to beat Dashizwiz and Jman. Axe is still an amazing player, regardless. I rated Axe very high and put him in the current top 10, but I was just wondering if it were a matter of lack of matchup experience against pikachu moreso than anything. I know it's no johns for shiz and jman.

The example I demonstrated with Lovage makes it difficult to properly rate Axe.

Edit: I realized I forgot to put Axe in the rankings, lol.

1. Mango
2. Hungrybox
3. Mew2King

5. Dr. PeePee

ah, those were good times. you left out SwiftBass though. He was there too...

EDIT:
i remember it came to that cuz stupid stuff happened. chu went pikachu in 2nd pools and got a 3rd seed. i think forward lost to hugo in 2nd pools so he got a 2nd seed. and i have no idea how they put m2k with azen and chu and didn't see that as a problem.

Sliq was a top seed and ended up in that pool. seems like a death pool to me still, haha.

and for the most part i'd agree, but if (hypothetically) 4 of the top 10 players in the nation sandbag in round 2 pools and get 2nd and 3rd seeds, and then the next set of pools is randomly generated by seed (which was the case at pound 3) you could still end up in a death pool even with a first seed. it'd be kind of what happened here to a much greater extent

well the top 3 were Azen, Chu, and Foward

i think sliq beat forward, which made wobbles sad cuz it stopped him from advancing. it was really close for that 4th spot if i remember right. swift beat wobbles, i beat swift, wobbles beat me, wobbles beat sliq, sliq beat me, swift beat sliq, and some other nonsense. i'm pretty sure out of the tangle wobbles had it, but sliq had the win against forward, which put him over by 1 match or something even though rob had the head to head.

It was my understanding that Plank goes by head-to-head in deciding pools, while Alex Strife goes by number of wins. Sliq shouldn't have made it out lol.

# of wins vs head-to-head came up at one of the oxnard ranbats recently

because it was just a small tourney, we did tie breakers

i think head-to-head is a better method

Set Counts-Head to Head-Record.

The only way record should matter is if its a 3 way tie or best of 2 and the players went 1-1.
